Chapter 1269: True Appearance

Chapter 1269: True Appearance

The jade skeleton had been drawn by the qi of the astra, moving involuntarily like a lifeless object. Chains coiled tightly around him, his qi still linked to the seal of the blood pool.

No one could sense any aura from the jade skeleton. It was impossible to tell whether the ancient cultivator had merely been imprisoned by the shackles or had already died.

With a splash, Old Devil Ye and Qingjun almost simultaneously flew out of the blood pool.

Qingjun rode atop the Azure Luan, the Hidden Moon Landscape Scroll circling her body. The Azure Luan puppet cried out repeatedly, its voice filled with fury.

Jingyu emerged last. Her feathers were disheveled, and her aura had weakened. She had expended immense effort breaking the blood-thread curse and had been injured in the ensuing battle.

After dispelling the curse on the white bones and obtaining the Corpseflower Blood Amber, she had rushed over, only to see that Old Devil Ye had already opened the cage and released the jade skeleton. Without hesitation, she urged the Lightning Thought Orb to assist Qingjun.

Old Devil Ye truly deserved his title as the number one figure of the Beichen Realm. Even with Qingjun joining forces with Jingyu, they still could not deal with him.

Jingyu did not dare approach the front lines where the two clashed. Instead, she stayed on the outskirts, unleashing her life-bound supernatural ability. She controlled lightning, firing pillar after pillar of lightning toward Old Devil Ye.

Old Devil Ye fought one against two. Wherever he passed, heavy snow fell, and the blood water froze solid.

Beside him, a white figure constantly lingered. It had merged from several earlier figures, sometimes behaving like a living creature, baring its fangs and claws as it lunged at Qingjun, preventing her and the Azure Luan puppet from approaching the jade skeleton.

At other times, it transformed into a mass of icy mist. Both Jingyu’s lightning pillars and Qingjun’s attacks sank into the mist like stones into the sea, completely absorbed without harming Old Devil Ye in the slightest.

This white figure was a piece of ten-thousand-year mystic ice that Old Devil Ye had obtained by chance in Abyssal Ruin. It had already been refined by an ancient cultivator. After years of study, Old Devil Ye had discovered how to use it.

He had secretly refined another cultivator’s Spiritual Infant and fused it with the mystic ice, turning it into an ice devil.

Though it appeared to be a puppet under his control, its consciousness was chaotic and incapable of independent action. It functioned more like an astra, capable of both offense and defense. It had played a major role in breaking the seal earlier.

Even so, Old Devil Ye did not dare ignore Qingjun and Jingyu’s attacks. Several times, when he tried to approach the jade skeleton, he had been forced back.

All three harbored conflicting thoughts. They were wary of the jade skeleton, yet feared they might be too fragile and be destroyed by the aftermath of their battle, leaving them with nothing.

Thus, they fought cautiously, restraining themselves as they battled from the bottom of the blood pool all the way outside.

Crack! At last, one of the shackles on the jade skeleton shattered under the aftershock of the astra.

Everyone’s pupils constricted. The jade skeleton tumbled within their sight, yet still showed no sign of revival.

Qingjun let out a sharp cry. The scene within the Hidden Moon Landscape Scroll manifested into reality.

Her expression remained unchanged as she gazed at the jade skeleton. Silently reciting an incantation, she summoned a beam of moonlight that illuminated the bones, the lunar radiance opening a path for the Azure Luan.

Screech! The Azure Luan raised its head and, empowered by the moonlight, lunged forward at high speed.

Old Devil Ye’s expression darkened as he also reached out toward the jade skeleton.

Though there was still some distance between them, the ice devil transformed into a cloud of icy mist, flew into his palm, and then became a giant mystic ice hand, appearing instantly beneath the jade skeleton.

On the other side, the blood devil incarnation unleashed every method at his disposal, struggling desperately under the assault of the devilish flames.

Qin Sang held nothing back, fully revealing the terrifying power of the flames before everyone.

The blood light of the Blood Moon Wheel had already been suppressed to its limit. It could barely protect the blood devil incarnation. The dim glow flickered like a candle, nearly invisible within the sea of black flames.

It was on the verge of collapse at any moment. The three blood shadows, unable to evade, were given no chance to recover. Their consumption was immense.

Seeing that Qingjun and Jingyu were safe, Qin Sang felt a slight sense of relief. But witnessing this situation, he knew that victory or defeat would be decided in an instant.

A cold gleam flashed in his eyes as he looked at the blood devil incarnation blocking him with his life. With a cold snort, the endless devilish flames suddenly converged, condensing into a fire dragon that roared as it surged forward.

Shock appeared on the blood devil incarnation’s face. He knew he might not be able to withstand this attack.

Old Devil Ye glanced over and moved his lips slightly.

The blood devil incarnation’s expression stiffened. Then the three blood shadows lunged together, merging into one. Instead of reverting to their original form, they condensed into a fist-sized blood bead that shot straight toward Qin Sang.

Qin Sang frowned, immediately sensing danger. Without hesitation, he summoned his turtle-shell shield. The next moment, a world-shaking explosion erupted within the flames.

Boom! Old Devil Ye had actually detonated the blood devil incarnation!

The devilish flames took the full impact and were torn apart by the shockwave.

In an instant, countless strands of flame scattered wildly. Waves of fire surged in all directions. The blood devil incarnation and the blood bead vanished entirely, leaving the battlefield in chaos.

Qin Sang had not expected Old Devil Ye to be so ruthless as to self-destruct his own incarnation. Caught off guard, he had no time to evade.

Together with his devilish banners, he was engulfed by the rebounding flames, his fate unknown.

Everyone’s attention had been focused on the struggle for the jade skeleton. No one had anticipated such a devastating outcome from Qin Sang and the blood devil incarnation’s clash.

Old Devil Ye’s incarnation, fighting Qin Sang alone without assistance, had been driven to such a desperate end!

The crowd gained a new understanding of the terrifying power of the devilish flames and the strength of Demon King Ming Yue. Shock filled their faces. Some even wondered if he was actually the Feathered Demon King in disguise.

Small Cold Domain was both shocked and delighted.

Old Devil Ye losing his incarnation was like losing an arm. His vital energy would be greatly damaged. Even if they failed to seize the jade skeleton, the trip would not have been in vain.

What worried them, however, was the eerie silence at the center of the flames. They did not know what had become of Demon King Ming Yue.

The self-destruction of the blood devil incarnation was no trivial matter, and it had been aimed directly at him.

He was caught off guard. Has he fallen? They all thought.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Suddenly, the scattered flames began to surge back inward.

The scene at the center was revealed. The eighteen devilish banners stood crooked and unstable. The array had been impacted, though most of the force had been absorbed by the flames.

At the center of the banners, a figure appeared behind the turtle-shell shield. His aura was extremely unstable. His hair hung loose, his face pale and ashen, yet he still stood tall and unyielding!

"Huh?" someone suddenly exclaimed in surprise.

Demon King Ming Yue’s mask was gone. It had been destroyed in the explosion, revealing his true face.

Since his emergence, he had always worn a mask. Now that they saw his true appearance, the crowd could not help but feel puzzled.

Though he appeared somewhat too young, almost like a youth, there was nothing unusual about his features. Why had he bothered to conceal his face and act so mysterious?

However, a few who had once attended the council at Cangheng Island felt a sense of familiarity upon seeing his face. Suddenly, they recalled a past event.

This man was Qin Sang, who had once appeared unexpectedly to demand the reward promised to him by the Two-Domain Alliance two hundred years ago.

He had originally been a disciple of Shaohua Mountain, yet had stood beside Leng Yuntian, that was, Qingjun, and had been at odds with his grandmaster Dongyang Bo. There had clearly been hidden enmity between them.

"It’s him!"

"He’s a human cultivator, not a demon king. This is a blessing for our race, a blessing for Small Cold Domain!"

"So that’s how it is!"

These people were all sharp-minded. In an instant, they understood why Qin Sang had concealed his identity, and realization dawned on them.
