Chapter 1308: Death Jade

Chapter 1308: Death Jade

"It seems like your sword array has quite an origin as well. But if you think you can break my corpse array here, you are still lacking! Why not bring out your devilish flame banner? Let me see whether this so-called number one astra in the world truly deserves its reputation!" Judge sneered coldly.

Qin Sang remained unmoved. He continued entangling Judge with the sword array alone, while secretly communicating with Bai.

Seeing Qin Sang’s actions, Judge suddenly felt a faint trace of unease.

His primary soul was inhabiting one refined corpse as he stared intently at Qin Sang, yet he could not determine where that unease was coming from.

Sin Abyss had always placed great importance on Qin Sang and had carefully studied his supernatural abilities. Especially after the battle at Shuangjing Mountain, Fairy Qiuzhi had nearly forced out every method Qin Sang possessed, including the Seven-Yin-Soul Killing Array.

Less than a year had passed. By all reason, Qin Sang’s strength should not have improved significantly.

It’s coming! Judge saw the devilish banner spiraling out from Qin Sang’s sleeve, and his heart tightened. Without the slightest hesitation, he immediately unleashed the secret technique he had prepared long ago.

Piercing shrieks erupted from within the corpse array. Then clusters of shimmering blue light floated out from the array.

They were masses of pale blue flame, a kind of yin fire, rising slowly and weightlessly into the air.

Whoosh! The moment the yin fire touched corpse qi, it exploded into a sea of flames. The refined corpses within the array crazily spewed corpse qi, feeding and strengthening the yin fire. Its momentum rapidly rose, and before long, it looked no weaker than the Devilish Flames of Nine Hells.

The next moment, the devilish flames arrived!

The two spiritual flames collided head-on with a thunderous crash. Flames scattered wildly in every direction like stars raining down, while towering waves of fire surged skyward, carrying astonishing force as they crashed toward one another.

Though the corpse array’s yin fire was formidable, it still fell short of the Devilish Flames of Nine Hells.

However, Judge held an advantage. Both the corpse array and the yin fire were entirely under his control.

He did not clash directly against the Devilish Flames of Nine Hells. Under his manipulation, the yin fire shifted endlessly, alternating between solid and illusory, impossible to distinguish. Relying on these transformations, he continuously tangled with the devilish flames.

The yin fire burned the corpse qi inside the refined corpses. Very quickly, some refined corpses were exhausted. The savage glow in their ghostly eyes dimmed, and they collapsed weakly to the ground. Judge felt no pity whatsoever. To stop Qin Sang, such sacrifices were necessary. The moment one fell, another refined corpse immediately filled its place.

Only after personally experiencing the terrifying might of the devilish flames did Judge finally understand why so many of his fellow cultivators had died at Qin Sang’s hands.

Boom! The devilish flames swept forward in an overwhelming tide, unstoppable and irresistible.

At this rate, Judge’s refined corpses were being consumed at a shocking pace.

Suddenly, a figure silently appeared within the corpse array. His blood-red eyes glowed coldly as he stared at one particular refined corpse.

"Who’s there!" Judge was horrified. There was actually a third person hiding here, someone who had silently infiltrated the corpse array and accurately located the refined corpse housing his primary soul!

That figure was Bai.

While Judge fought Qin Sang with everything he had, Bai had quietly observed from the side. Having seen through the mysteries of the corpse array, he located Judge’s primary soul and, relying on his own refined corpse body, silently merged into the array while Judge lacked the focus to notice.

Shocked and alarmed, Judge immediately tried to transfer his primary soul into another refined corpse.

Bai sensed Judge’s movement and let out a cold snort. His hand shot out violently. The hand was slightly gaunt, with slender nails like ghost claws, and it struck toward the refined corpse’s back with blinding speed.

Splurt! His five fingers sank deeply into the refined corpse’s body.

Then corpse qi surged wildly from Bai. Black threads spread from his fingertips like spiderwebs, instantly crawling over the refined corpse’s entire body.

At the same moment, Qin Sang seized the opportunity. He poured all his strength into the devilish banners. The devilish flames surged violently, smashing through the yin fire blockade in one fierce burst. A black sea of fire swallowed the corpse array whole.

Whoosh... Wherever layer upon layer of fire waves passed, refined corpses were instantly reduced to ash.

The corpse array shattered. The refined corpse housing Judge’s primary soul suddenly trembled violently. He could no longer care about the corpse array. He could only resist desperately. A streak of dim light suddenly shot out from the center of its brow, streaking directly toward Bai’s face.

Dong! To Judge’s despair, the dim light struck squarely against a shield. It was the tortoise shell shield Bai had borrowed earlier from Qin Sang.

Rip! Bai tore the refined corpse’s body in half. A mass of yellow light leaped out from the refined corpse’s skull and shot frantically into the distance. Bai caught it in one grab.

Inside the yellow light appeared a pale face. It was Judge himself, staring at Bai in utter terror.

They had actually captured him alive. Joy rose in Qin Sang’s heart. He put away the devilish banners and flashed over. Judge was deeply proficient in corpse refinement techniques. Perhaps he could be interrogated for valuable information.

But then an unexpected scene unfolded. The yellow light flickered violently, and Judge’s face suddenly shattered like a mirror.

Bai let out a soft sound of surprise and thrust his hand into the yellow light, but he was still a step too slow. Judge glared venomously at Bai before completely dissipating.

"This fellow has more than one primary soul." Bai frowned. His hand clenched tight, compressing the fading yellow light into a ball. Along with it, a jade pendant engraved with the character "Death" fell into his palm.

Inside Yu City, Daoist Qi was issuing commands when a miserable scream suddenly rang out.

Beside him, a black-robed cultivator abruptly collapsed to the ground and spat out a mouthful of pitch-black blood, foul-smelling enough to make one nauseous.

"Daoist, you..." Daoist Qi remembered clearly that it was Judge who had been tasked with stopping Qin Sang.

Judge struggled to sit upright, his voice hoarse beyond measure. "I can no longer sense my second primary soul."

"What? Daoist, your corpse array is profoundly mysterious. There should have been no way your refined corpses were exhausted so quickly. Did he use some method to sever your perception?" someone beside him cried out in alarm.

Judge’s expression darkened as rage flashed in his eyes. "It was not severed. My primary soul has perished. Before dying, it failed to send back even the slightest information. I still do not know how my primary soul fell so quickly. Even the Death Jade that controlled the corpse array has fallen into that man’s hands! I will need decades to recover!"

Everyone’s shock deepened. A wave of helplessness washed over them. "Unless that man is also deeply proficient in Corpse Dao secret techniques... But how many years has it been since he broke through to the Spiritual Infant Realm?"

In their eyes, Qin Sang had become even more unfathomable. Every time they thought they had grasped the limits of Qin Sang’s strength, he always revealed another astonishing surprise.

"Daoist Qi, Qu Huan, that traitor, must have leaked our secrets. The Daoists tasked with intercepting Daoist Master Zhenyi and the others are gradually failing as well. Daoist Canghong has yet to return. We can only abandon the outer city now, lest we suffer even greater losses. Most of our resources have already been transferred to the inner city. It is time to decide," the beautiful female cultivator said.

Daoist Qi was unwilling, but after taking a deep breath of qi, he looked once toward the city walls and slowly nodded.

Qin Sang turned the Death Jade over in his hand, already guessing that it was likely the treasure used to control the corpse array. This time, Judge had not only lost a primary soul, he had also lost the Death Jade. His losses were catastrophic.

Unfortunately, they had failed to capture him alive.

Qin Sang turned to Bai. He saw Bai holding the sphere condensed from yellow light as corpse qi poured wildly into it, emitting strange fluctuations. Then the sphere flashed once and sank into Bai’s body.

The corpse qi around Bai immediately became several degrees more solid.

Qin Sang was rather surprised. "I forgot to ask, Brother Bai, how will you cultivate in the future?"

Bai twisted his neck, his face full of satisfaction. "The same as other corpse kings. Find a place where yin qi gathers and absorb yin qi. But there is an even faster method. That is to directly refine the most yin Earth Malevolent Qi."
