Chapter 535 - 534: Uninvited Guests

Chapter 535: Chapter 534: Uninvited Guests

"Feifan, it’s morning. Time to get up..."

Awakened by the call, Yan Feifan forced his eyelids open.

He shot his sister a disgruntled look, then rolled over in response, pulling a warm, soft body into his arms.

However, the tender moment didn’t last five seconds before a heavy slap landed on Yan Feifan’s shoulder.

"Get up now, or I’ll have to get rough!"

Instantly awake, Yan Feifan sat up in a huff.

Lying beside him, Yu Suye could no longer pretend to be asleep and quickly sat up as well.

Yan Feifan glanced at the clock on the wall and got even angrier.

"Sis, what are you doing?"

"It’s Saturday, and it’s not even six in the morning."

Yan Ziruo barked her orders, "We’re eating early today so we can get to the new villa at Phoenix Tail Mountain and get it cleaned up."

"We have a lot of guests coming this afternoon, and there’s a ton of work to do."

Yan Feifan was exasperated. "Sis, why were you in such a hurry to invite guests over?" he complained.

"Wouldn’t it have been better to finish setting up the house slowly and *then* invite people?"

Yan Ziruo put her hands on her hips and explained, "I did it to work around your schedule! I checked, and you barely have any free time in August."

"Now hurry up, get out of bed, and wash up!"

As she spoke, Yan Ziruo’s right hand expertly grabbed her brother’s ear...

After finishing breakfast at a small diner outside their residential complex, the Yan siblings, Yu Suye, Zeng Ni, and Du Qiu drove their Cayenne and Beetle to a large farmers’ market nearby.

Yan Feifan watched as his sister went on a shopping spree, buying lots of fruit, fresh vegetables, meat, eggs, poultry, fish, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, tea, rice, flour, and more.

"Sis, are we cooking for the party tonight ourselves?"

Yan Ziruo explained, "I already arranged for a catered banquet for tonight through Mr. Wang."

"Other than the fruit for serving guests today, everything else we’re buying now is for us to use when we’re living in the villa."

Yan Feifan let out a sound of understanding.

This major shopping trip required several trips back and forth to the cars. They bought so much that they practically filled the trunks and back seats of both vehicles.

Then, they drove straight to Phoenix Tail Mountain in the southern suburbs.

Phoenix Mountain Villa was situated in a scenic, semi-circular hollow on Phoenix Tail Mountain and was divided into three villa zones.

A branch road ran along the foot of the mountain in this hollow, leading to the city.

This branch road split into three winding mountain roads that followed the rolling hills all the way to the top.

Each of these ascending roads branched out like a tree, with smaller paths extending out to the sides of the mountain.

At the junction or end of each of these offshoots was a villa, each built into the mountainside and unique in style.

On the flat land at the foot of the mountain, nearly a hundred villas of varying sizes and appearances were scattered about.

Each mountain road constituted a villa zone. From east to west, they were Zone A, Zone B, and Zone C.

Wang Chuan’s villa was at the highest point of Zone C, commanding a panoramic view of the mountains below.

The Yan siblings’ villa was located halfway up the mountain in Zone B.

Getting out of the car, Yan Feifan studied the three-story villa before him and noticed its striking orange-red exterior.

The yard and building that met his eyes were clearly more than a size smaller than Mr. Wang’s villa.

The yard was about seventy or eighty square meters, mostly a gentle slope, and at least half of it was paved with colorful pebbles and cement.

The yard also had four flowerbeds of various sizes, planted with an assortment of flowers and shrubs.

However, in two of the flowerbeds, half the area was fresh soil, where plants had clearly been dug up and the ground leveled.

There was also a flat area of about fifteen or sixteen square meters in the yard, where a large, retractable canvas awning had been set up.

Just then, Yan Ziruo’s loud voice rang out.

"Feifan, Su Ye, Zeng Ni, I’ll give you all a proper tour of the villa first, and then we’ll move the stuff."

For the next half hour, Yan Ziruo, playing the part of the hostess, excitedly gave everyone a detailed tour of the villa.

The first floor had a two-car garage, a large living room with a high ceiling, a kitchen, a dining room, a bathroom, and a room for an elderly person with its own private bathroom.

The second floor had a small sitting room, a large entertainment room, a bathroom, a secondary bedroom with an en suite bathroom and walk-in closet, and two guest rooms.

The third floor was half the size of the floors below.

It had a master bedroom with a luxury bathroom and separate walk-in closets for a man and a woman, as well as an adjoining study.

In addition, there was a large terrace perfect for sightseeing and barbecues.

Yan Feifan was quite satisfied with the villa’s layout. At the very least, it had no fewer rooms than Mr. Wang’s villa.

What it lacked in comparison were perhaps the luxuriously large living room and entertainment room, big enough to host a ball or serve as a gym.

Of course, the garage, dining room, master bedroom, and other areas were also clearly a size smaller.

Yu Suye sidled up to Yan Feifan and whispered with a pout, "Feifan, I think I’m falling in love with a small villa like this."

"What should I do?"

Yan Feifan waved his hand magnanimously. "Easy. We’ll have my sister keep an eye on the local listings. If someone’s selling, we’ll buy it."

"It’s only forty or fifty million. A drop in the bucket..."

Yu Suye giggled. "Then it’s a deal..."

After the tour, they started moving things from the cars.

Before they were even finished, a delivery truck arrived.

It was a truck full of bedding that Yan Ziruo had ordered the previous night.

Soon after, another delivery brought a complete set of imported kitchenware, as well as sets of dinnerware in various patterns, enough for a six-table banquet.

To Yan Feifan’s surprise, someone else delivered several sets of skincare and toiletries, as well as incense, mosquito and insect repellents, bathroom cleaning supplies, and other items.

Although these items only filled a few small boxes, the bill came out to tens of thousands, making Yan Feifan grind his teeth in distress.

Yan Feifan did a quick calculation.

Just from the deliveries this morning alone, nearly a million yuan had flowed away like water.

’She really doesn’t feel the pain when it’s not her own money she’s spending! A single set of bedding costs nearly a hundred thousand.’

’We used to sleep on sheets, duvet covers, and blankets that cost a few dozen or a few hundred yuan, and we slept just fine!’

Yan Ziruo shot him a look and said smugly, "My dear brother, this is called a consumer upgrade and lifestyle matching. Get it?"

"You’re living in a villa worth tens of millions. You can’t possibly use bedding that costs a few hundred or a thousand yuan a set, can you?"

Yan Feifan said, thoroughly annoyed, "I get the logic."

"It’s like when you buy a designer bag for tens of thousands, you have to upgrade your whole wardrobe—clothes, shoes, everything—to match its class."

He reached out and tapped his sister on the forehead, adding with a grin, "Too bad I can’t trade you in for a new sister."

Yan Ziruo glared at him and said haughtily, "A sister like me is one of a kind. You should be thrilled to have me as your sister, and you want to trade me in?"

"Are you trying to rebel?!"

As she said this, she raised her hand and swung it at Yan Feifan.

But when the slap landed, it was soft and weak.

"You brat. I’m in a good mood today, so I won’t hit you. I’ll let you get away with your insubordination this once."

"Now get back to work..."

Around noon, the guests Yan Ziruo had invited began to arrive one after another.

First came Mr. Tian, Mrs. Tian, and Xiaoyu, a family of three. They were followed by Song Yi, and then Yu Chuanbai and his fiancée.

Next were two of Yan Ziruo’s colleagues from the hospital she got along with, as well as three of her longtime female friends.

After that came her younger maternal uncle, Shu Lei, and Mrs. Xia.

Around two in the afternoon, Wang Chuan and Ouyang Yanran arrived together.

The next guests, however, were somewhat unexpected by Yan Ziruo—they were all uninvited...
