Overpowered Resident Doctor

Chapter 802: Cold-Blooded

When Yan Feifan said it was business as usual, he wasn’t just talking.

Upon returning to his office in the Little Red House, he unceremoniously dismissed his followers to go about their own business. Then, taking Zhu Jian and Berry with him, he sat down with the waiting Ji Meng to discuss her plastic surgery plan.

Yan Feifan handed Ji Meng two hand-drawn sketches—one of her face from the front, and another showing her left profile. The facial details in these two sketches were drawn with such remarkable clarity and precision that they looked nearly as realistic as photographs.

Ji Meng fell in love at first sight, instantly captivated the moment she took the sketches. They gave her an intense feeling of something both familiar and foreign, as if she were looking at a masterfully retouched selfie. But more than that, it looked like the absolute most beautiful version of herself, captured by a master photographer and further enhanced by a Photoshop expert.

It was simply breathtaking!

That large, charming dimple; those inviting lips that made people want to take a bite; those deep, mesmerizing almond eyes; and that exquisite nose, as flawless as carved jade…

She was in love. Truly in love.

Ji Meng cried out in sheer excitement, “This is the me I’ve been waiting for! The me in my dreams! The perfect me! Mr. Yan, can this really be achieved?”

Yan Feifan replied cautiously, “It should be possible!”

This response left Ji Meng both satisfied and slightly disappointed. She turned her gaze back to the sketches in her hands and suddenly noticed something.

“Ah, why is there only one dimple?

“Mr. Yan, aren’t dimples usually symmetrical, one on each side? Why is it only on the left cheek?

“Isn’t it imperfect if one is missing?”

Yan Feifan was highly satisfied that she had finally noticed his meticulous design choice. This meant the design had achieved its purpose.

He had been observing Ji Meng’s reactions all along. Her suddenly dilated pupils and rapidly flaring nostrils upon seeing the sketches proved that the design had left a strong impact on her. By delivering a visual shock that exceeded her expectations, Yan Feifan figured he had successfully nailed the “stunning” aspect. The fact that she only pointed out the single dimple now also indicated that the imperfection of asymmetry didn’t detract much from the overall beauty.

Slowly explaining his proud masterpiece, Yan Feifan said, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s subjective, and extreme beauty is even harder to grasp.

“However, there is one undeniable fact: to anyone, beauty can be compared and ranked.

“Just as you said, Ji Meng, everyone has a perfect Prince Charming or Princess in their hearts.

“This comparison can also be applied to a person’s face.

“This single dimple is an intentional imperfection I designed. Not only does it lower people’s initial expectations, which then further accentuates the beauty of your lips, eyes, and nose, but it also serves as a focal point to draw people’s attention.

“When others see you, they will first be stunned by your overall beauty. Then, their gaze will zero in on your dimple, before naturally moving to your lips, your eyes, and your nose.

“At the same time, a single dimple will spark their imagination.

“They will wonder: ‘If she’s this beautiful with just one dimple, how incredible would she look with two?'”

With a solemn expression, Yan Feifan added, “Ji Meng, beauty without any room for imagination only holds a fleeting attraction.”

Ji Meng nodded thoughtfully. “Mr. Yan, I understand what you mean.

“It’s like how a completely naked woman might actually be less enticing to you men than one who is half-dressed and leaves something to the imagination.”

Ji Meng turned her eyes back to the sketches. “Mr. Yan, placing this dimple on the left cheek, as well as its shape, size, and exact position… these were all meticulously calculated, right?”

“Ms. Ji Meng, you are absolutely correct.” Thrilled that she had picked up on his stroke of genius, Yan Feifan enthusiastically elaborated. “As an entertainer, you surely know that a person’s left profile is always considered more attractive and photogenic than their right.

“There is a medical reason for this.

“Simply put, our brain is divided into left and right hemispheres. The right hemisphere plays a more crucial role in processing and expressing facial emotions.

“The right side of the brain controls the left side of the body.

“Therefore, when expressing genuine emotions, our brain sends stronger motor commands to the left side of the face, making emotional expressions much more prominent there.

“Because of this, whether the emotion is positive or negative, the left half of the face exhibits more movement. Its emotional expression is superior, richer, and more authentic.

“Through long-term evolution, humans have naturally become biased toward observing the emotional changes on the left side of a face.

“As for the shape and size of this dimple, and its exact placement on your left cheek…”

Yan Feifan feigned a casual tone. “Ms. Ji Meng, believe it or not, this was the final choice I made after comparing thousands of design variations.”

“I believe you, Mr. Yan. I believe you!” Ji Meng smiled radiantly, her face like a blooming flower. “Mr. Yan, when I brought you that picture of the internet’s most beautiful woman the other day, I didn’t actually have a concrete concept of what extreme beauty was.

“Frankly speaking, even if you had transformed me to look exactly like that picture, I wouldn’t have been fully satisfied.

“But the very first time I laid eyes on your sketches…”

Ji Meng placed a hand over her left breast. “…my heart in here wouldn’t stop going THUMP THUMP.

“Its intense beating was telling me that this is it. This is exactly what I want.

“Mr. Yan, you truly live up to your reputation as the top plastic surgery master in the country. We’re going with this plan. I can’t imagine a single alteration that could make it any better.

“Mr. Yan, I’m leaving everything in your hands.”

With that, Ji Meng stood up and gave Yan Feifan a deep, respectful bow.

Yan Feifan also stood. “Ms. Ji Meng, I will do my absolute best.” After a brief pause, he mused, “Let’s do this. Come to the hospital on Friday to handle the admission procedures.

“The surgery will be on Saturday…”

After seeing Ji Meng out, Yan Feifan glanced at Zhu Jian and Berry, who were still standing by his side. “Do you two have any suggestions regarding Ji Meng’s surgical plan?”

Zhu Jian shook his head vigorously like a rattle-drum, quick to flatter him. “None at all. Teacher, your design is a perfect masterpiece that defies imagination. Not a single detail can be changed.”

Not wanting to be outdone, Berry chimed in, “Teacher, your design can only be described as amazing. It’s truly incredible.”

Yan Feifan rolled his eyes in slight disdain. “Do you have any other business here?”

Zhu Jian and Berry shook their heads again.

Yan Feifan’s face hardened. “Then why are you still standing around? Hoping I’ll treat you to lunch?”

Seeing their teacher getting annoyed, the two quickly made themselves scarce and bolted.

As soon as they left the small office, Yan Ziruo pushed the door open and walked in.

“Feifan, why take your bad mood out on your students? I could hear you scolding them from the office next door.”

Yan Feifan defended himself, “I’m not in a bad mood. Besides, I criticize them exactly like this whenever they don’t perform well.”

Yan Ziruo smiled. “Never mind that.

“It’s time for lunch. Chuan ordered takeout from a high-end restaurant, and it’s all your favorites.

“Let’s eat together…”

Around one or two in the afternoon, an article began spreading rapidly across the internet and social media feeds.

The article accused Yan Feifan of being unusually cold-blooded. It claimed that after causing a patient to die on the operating table due to his surgical error, not only did he fail to immediately apologize and offer condolences to the deceased’s family, but he actually had the audacity to feast and drink merrily…
