Chapter 2435: Chapter 2436: Crystal Shell
"Because this bottle contains the crystal shell Shed by Sheath."
Angel had previously guessed whether the crystals in the bottle might be from Sheath’s body, and now the Observer has confirmed it. However, the term used by the Observer is "shed," which is quite interesting.
"Can Sheath shed its shell?"
Observer: "Of course, with a better shell, it will naturally be replaced."
Seeing that Angel still had doubts in his eyes, the Observer thought for a moment and didn’t mind explaining.
As it turns out, the purple-black crystals covering Sheath’s body are actually a kind of "exoskeleton" crystal shell that Sheath constructs externally through digesting certain kinds of extraordinary materials. It can serve both as a medium for energy release within Sheath and provide a certain level of defense.
This exoskeleton is naturally not unchanging; when Sheath digests the extraordinary materials more suited for it, it constructs a new exoskeleton. Generally speaking, the new exoskeleton is more superior than the old shell that was shed.
This can actually be considered a form of evolution.
After listening to the Observer’s explanation, Angel understood.
In simple terms, what the bottle contains is an extraordinary organ. Judging by its design, it likely also carries Soul Arms.
The reason Angel wasn’t initially certain whether the bottle contained Sheath’s organ was because the Sheath larva was clearly alive, so how could an organ have been removed?
It turns out, Sheath can shed its shell, shedding the old exoskeleton and constructing a new crystal shell.
This makes sense now.
Since No. 01 discovered Sheath’s Nest, they surely visited multiple times, stealing the crystal shell from its Nest for use in Soul Arms experiments.
The hidden room’s box had indentations for two bottles, suggesting No. 01 made two crystal shell organs, possibly having used the other one.
Though there’s some regret, obtaining one is already quite good.
Moreover, since Sheath’s crystal shell is an exoskeleton, if its effects are good, it could be grafted.
The organs found by Nis didn’t catch Angel’s attention, he was originally prepared not to graft any, so the surprise was quite welcome.
However, amidst the surprise, Angel also felt some concern.
"Sir, if I want to use this crystal shell, will I be targeted by Phantom Spirit City?"
Observer: "As long as you don’t encounter that Diamond Citizen, everything should be fine. But if you do meet it, and it takes issue, then the consequences are hard to predict."
The Diamond Citizen the Observer mentioned is the Sheath personally taken from Devil’s Sea by Gluz Deward, and is also the bloodline ancestor of the current Sheath larva.
The Observer’s words reassured Angel, as he hadn’t planned to go to Phantom Spirit City anyway. Plus, due to Toby’s presence, he wouldn’t even get near Phantom Spirit City, let alone seek it out.
"Of course, if you establish certain status in the Origin World, even if you meet that Diamond Citizen, it won’t do anything to you. After all, you didn’t harm the Sheath larva; this is merely an insignificant, shed shell." The Observer gave Angel a meaningful look and spoke in an enigmatic tone.
Angel perceived an underlying message from the Observer but couldn’t decipher it, so stopped thinking about it.
With the bottle’s mystery solved, Angel set his mind at ease.
Angel sensed the spatial ripple surrounding him to confirm Sanders hadn’t appeared yet, thus continued waiting. At this moment, his gaze inadvertently fell on Reynaud not far away.
Suddenly, a question popped into his mind; one he had been most curious and puzzled about in recent times.
"Sir, does a Luck Talent exist in this world?" Angel asked.
Observer glanced at Reynaud: "You want to ask about his situation?"
Angel nodded with embarrassment.
"Luck Talent, I’ve never heard of it. But his situation is indeed very peculiar..."
The Observer couldn’t definitively explain the reason behind Reynaud’s "luck," but he had a hypothesis. This hypothesis involved certain knowledge.
This knowledge wasn’t considered secret in the Origin World, but knowledge is knowledge; its essence doesn’t change regardless of how widely spread it is. In the World of Wizards, the most valuable thing is knowledge.
The Observer hesitated to continue because he was pondering whether to tell Angel for free.
While the Observer contemplated, Angel suddenly turned toward a certain spot.
The Observer was also startled and followed Angel’s gaze.
About a hundred meters away from them, spatial ripples appeared one after another, these ripples vibrated in rings, splitting the stable space into crack-like fissures reminiscent of a spider’s web pattern.
"This is... a Plane Corridor!" Observer’s eyes gleamed with doubt.
Angel and Nis exchanged glances, as Nis slightly nodded to him: "It should be your Mentor arriving."
After a pause, Nis couldn’t help but feel a bit envious: "He’s really fast. Before, when I sought Lord Eternal Night, I had to wait for quite a while."
Angel ignored Nis’ idle talk and continued to carefully watch the spatial ripples in the distance. The Plane Corridor’s signs had just appeared; whether it was Sanders was still uncertain. Should it unexpectedly not be Sanders, he needed to stay alert.
While Angel remained vigilant, the Observer had already seen through distorted Law to identify the one arriving through the Plane Corridor.
Having served as the Southern Domain’s Observer for nearly a millennium, he would pay attention to the happenings in the Southern Domain even in his leisure time, so was familiar with its renowned wizards.
He had seen Sanders before, especially after the Eternal Night Country incident, where he secretly observed Sanders for a period.
Thus, he was very certain that the one arriving was Angel’s Mentor, Sanders, who is also referred to as the "Illusion Master."
Upon seeing Sanders’ arrival, the Observer was genuinely a bit dazed.
Previously he thought Nis and Angel had played a comedy before him, as merely dreaming couldn’t contact others. Yet reality surprised him, Sanders has indeed come!
How did they make contact?
Was it really through dreams?
Could it be, in this region of the Southern Domain—where it has not seen the birth of a Legendary Wizard for years, and even in the Origin World people say it is close to becoming a Law Relief zone—a genius spell creator has emerged? Created long-distance dreaming spell?
Dreaming itself isn’t difficult, but long-distance dreaming is quite startling, which implies someone can locate coordinates in the Dream Realm!
The Dream Realm, similar to the Quest World, is a special world.
Special worlds imply endless possibilities!
The Quest World has already ’Spirit Realm Walker’ gradually unveil its mysteries, yet the Dream Realm remains unexplored by Dream Sorcerers. Perhaps some have, but the Observer has never heard.
Such an acknowledged boundless special world can locate coordinates—what this signifies, the Observer understood too well!
Is long-distance dreaming real? Is there truly such an outstandingly talented spell creator?
As the Observer’s gaze quickly shifted, the space rift in the distance gradually opened.
Sanders, dressed in traditional black gentleman’s attire, stepped out from the rift.
As soon as Sanders appeared, without even observing his surroundings, he sensed something was amiss, such as the strange attraction in the distance, tempting him to glance that way.
But the attraction was secondary; what surprised him the most was that Angel had actually activated the Domain Field of his right eye, and... that white-haired old man.
Nis, in a hurry when contacting Sanders through the tree cluster, had not explained the situation in detail. So, he had no idea about the existence of the white-haired old man.
Now, upon seeing this white-haired old man, Sanders immediately sensed something peculiar.
This white-haired old man and everything around him exuded an air of alienation, as if he existed in a twisted realm. What stood before them now was merely a phantom.
Yet, even if it was just a phantom, it possessed an incredibly terrifying aura. This aura was such that even Sanders couldn’t directly face it; a single glance required him to withdraw his gaze.
However, Sanders noticed that Nis seemed unaffected by the aura of the white-haired old man.
Sanders wasn’t foolish. If even Angel could see something amiss, how could he not understand? He realized immediately that this white-haired old man hadn’t done anything; the deeper one’s understanding of this world and its laws, the more one would be affected by the old man.
Nis was clearly a novice in terms of laws and did not feel anything wrong with the old man’s presence. But it was different for Sanders; the world he perceived was closer to the rules, more real, so the pressure he felt from the white-haired old man was the greatest among everyone present, except for Kanter in the sky.
Sanders even found it difficult to move his steps, not daring to get closer.
Seeing Sanders frozen in place, Angel guessed the reason in his heart. He proactively approached, and with the coverage of the Domain Field, the pressure Sanders felt significantly reduced.
Only then did Sanders recover from his tense state.
Sanders gave Angel a look, immediately understanding the meaning in Sanders’ eyes.
"Mentor, this is Lord Observer." Angel deliberately emphasized the word "Observer".
Previously, Sanders had heard from Angel about the "Culori Chronicles" and immediately understood who was before him.
Legendary Wizard!
Why was such a Legendary Wizard here? And hadn’t he just seen Angel standing next to him?
What exactly was Angel up to? How had he gotten involved with an existence above legendary once more?
Also, hadn’t Nis said Angel was in trouble? But he seemed perfectly fine here!
Could it be that the trouble Nis mentioned wasn’t physical trouble?
But rather... was Angel causing trouble again and needed him to come clean up the aftermath?
If that were the case, Sanders suddenly had the urge to curse.
Hadn’t Angel just stirred up the Tidal World not long ago? Was he causing trouble again?
Sanders suddenly regretted not discussing with Lord Reine earlier and bringing him along. Could he handle this alone?
Sanders forcibly suppressed the emotions surging within him, coldly glanced at Angel, and stepped forward to bow respectfully to the Observer.
The Observer waved his hand indifferently. He didn’t care much for etiquette but was curious about how they managed to notify Sanders.
The Observer pondered for a moment, then looked at Angel, "I didn’t expect you to call for reinforcements, and they arrived faster than I anticipated."
The Observer seemed to calmly state a fact, but Angel, Sanders, and Nis all heard the undertone.
Nis and Sanders directed their gazes toward Angel.
Sanders: "Doesn’t the Observer know about the Wilderness of Dreams?"
Nis: "What are you going to do now?"
Angel nodded slightly at Nis and Sanders without saying anything. He had foreseen this situation when he sent Nis to request reinforcements.
If the Observer didn’t mention it, it indicated that it wasn’t a big deal to them, and Angel didn’t need to go out of his way to explain.
But now that the Observer mentioned it, even without inquiring, he had a hint of exploration in mind. Angel wasn’t sure if the Observer was serious or just casually bringing it up, but he didn’t plan to hide it.
The New City’s construction was nearing completion, and the Tea Party was approaching. Many Wizard Apprentices from the Barbarian Cave had already entered the Wilderness of Dreams.
At this point, it indicated that soon, the Wilderness of Dreams would enter the public’s transcendent view.
Were it not for Lord Reine suppressing the information and sealing off the Mirror World, someone might already know by now, especially since the Barbarian Cave had spies from other Witcher Organizations.
But inevitably, opening it was certain.
And the opening wasn’t far off.
Since it would be open soon and the Observer would know by then, Angel thought it didn’t matter to reveal it now. Moreover, he had already mastered the core authority of the Wilderness of Dreams, so there was no threat of it being taken away.
With this mindset, Angel hadn’t hidden anything previously.
...
While Angel’s thoughts were swirling, the Observer’s gaze slowly shifted from Nis to Angel.
Initially, the Observer thought Nis was in charge, as Nis had contacted Sanders first.
But now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Both Sanders and Nis had their sights set on Angel, which was intriguing.
Angel seemed to be the focal point of the "Dream Projection"?
The Observer saw Angel’s long silence and wondered if it was related to secrets. Should he insist on exploring further?
From the perspective of the Observer’s rules and his dignity, he didn’t want to trouble a young Wizard of a younger generation.
However, considering the Dream Realm’s uniqueness, he was very intrigued to explore its secrets.
Perhaps he could pretend not to ask, then secretly observe and explore later? The Observer thought this approach was good—it wouldn’t break rules, nor require compensatory exchanges due to breaking rules.
Just as the Observer was making his decision, Angel suddenly spoke, "The reason my mentor arrived so quickly is due to the support of the Wilderness of Dreams and the Mother Tree Network."
"Wilderness of Dreams? Mother Tree Network?" The Observer was stunned for a moment. What were these things? They seemed unrelated to "Dream Projection."
"Explaining in detail is somewhat complex, and there’s little time right now." Angel said while taking out a monocle on a chain from his pocket and handing it to the Observer, "If Lord Observer has the time, he might as well visit the Wilderness of Dreams for a look."
