Chapter 2885: Chapter 2886: Survival in the Crevices
Although Angel is not currently in the Crystal Origin of Dreams, he sees the scene through the Gate of Dreams.
Why did two spider monsters explode out?
Are they split, or are they newly generated? Or is it a kind of avatar ability?
In his bewilderment, Angel does not forget to use the Dream Conch to pull the slough into the Crystal Origin of Dreams.
After Laplace receives the slough, she immediately bombs one-fifth of the scales at the spider monster, targeting the newly born spider monster.
The reason for not detonating all the slough at once is to test the strength of the newly born spider monster. How much of the scale bombing can it withstand?
The newly born spider monster is very fast, almost comparable to the original one. But no matter how fast, under the bombardment resembling a sky net, it cannot escape.
With a huge roar, the newly born spider monster is directly bombed to Corpse Mountain, raising countless monster carcasses.
However, as the remnants fall like rain, revealing the spider monster inside, Laplace and Angel fall silent.
The spider monster indeed suffered injuries, covered with various wounds, but compared to the one-fifth scale bombardment used by Laplace, these wounds are very slight.
Laplace grits her teeth, and while the spider monster is still reeling, she detonates the remaining slough all at once.
The target is still the newly born spider monster.
This time the explosion is several times more intense than before, causing Corpse Mountain to collapse a thousand meters.
When the smoke dissipates and the dust settles, Laplace looks at the fragmented spider monster carcass below and finally breathes a sigh of relief.
At least, it can still be killed.
After killing the newly born spider monster, Laplace receives Angel’s replenishment of slough again. She does not hesitate and immediately targets the spider monster in the air.
Previously, the spider monster in the air did not join the other spider monster in attacking Laplace, not because it spared Laplace, but because... it was weaving a net.
Clearly unsupported sky, in the eyes of the spider monster, appears like a curtain where any area can attach silk threads.
In just dozens of seconds, the threads in the sky have formed a circle of webs. Moreover, the webs are expanding outward circle after circle.
The spider monster weaving webs might be for its own backup or to restrict Laplace’s actions... Whatever the reason, it indicates the web’s tenacity and sharpness from the side.
Looking at the interlaced webs in the sky, Laplace has no doubt that if she accidentally charges into the web, her body will definitely be sliced into countless pieces.
Laplace is not foolish; knowing the sharpness of the web, she naturally won’t rush into it. Instead, she moves closer to initiate an attack on the spider monster.
This time, Laplace does not hesitate at all, using her strongest attack! She detonates the entire slough!
Angel watches the earth-shattering bombardment through the Gate of Dreams, contemplating deeply. Such terrifying attacks would be hard to withstand, even in the Wizards’ Realm. Surely, the spider monster must be doomed this time?
When the flames of the explosion fade, the first thing Angel sees is the shattered web... But only a small part is shattered, less than one-twentieth, showing the sturdiness of the web.
Soon after, Angel sees the spider monster’s remains, all its remnants hanging on the web, making it hard to ignore.
However, despite seeing the spider monster’s "body," Angel feels something odd.
Has the Eliminator just died? Is it really resolved so simply? Didn’t it become two before?
As Angel muses, the spider monster’s remains lightly move...
Seconds later—
When the spider monster’s remains reassemble and another spider monster appears on the web in the sky, Angel is not surprised, rather he feels... Somehow this feels right.
Though his notion has been a bit misled, Angel’s hands don’t hesitate to continue supplying Laplace with slough.
Time passes little by little, and as Angel supplies Laplace with slough for the sixth time, he has discerned some features of the spider monster.
First, this spider monster has intelligence, even though he hasn’t communicated with it, the combat details reveal that its intelligence might not be low.
Second, the spider monster has a very high comprehensive physical quality, with strong speed, power, and defense. Just talking about defense, among the magical creatures Angel has encountered, only Leviathan Hall and Seed can compare to it.
Third, when the main body is killed, a new spider monster appears immediately. Angel hasn’t discerned a solution for this ability yet, but he’s sure it’s not splitting, more like growth.
The feature of splitting is that the new life created by splitting has much lower strength than the main body. However, these ’splits’ created by the spider monster have strength no less than the main body, and their comprehensive physical qualities are almost identical to the main body.
The only difference is the following point.
Fourth, when a split is killed, it won’t resurrect. But when the main body is killed, splits will endlessly grow.
Just like now, Laplace is focused on killing the main body, which has already been killed four times, yet the main body revives perfectly each time while splits have simultaneously appeared four times.
These four splits, along with the main body, are now hanging on the web in the sky, glaring at Laplace.
This ability is very powerful and peculiar; to this day, Angel still hasn’t seen a weakness in it... it seems entirely unrestricted, with endless avatars.
When Angel hands the slough to Laplace for the seventh time, Laplace doesn’t attack, instead descends from the sky into the safe zone.
Angel thinks Laplace might be tired and needs to rest in the safe zone; but after a while, with Laplace not exiting the safe zone, Angel instantly understands that Laplace might have something to tell him.
Perhaps Laplace is prepared to give up? If it were him, facing endless avatars without finding a flaw, he might also give up.
Angel sighs lightly in his heart, closes his eyes, and enters the Crystal Origin of Dreams.
When Angel appears in the safe zone, Laplace is gazing at the sky.
Angel also gazes, seeing the spider monster not pursuing Laplace, but rather the four splits and one main body are weaving the web quickly.
It seems they’re planning to turn the entire sky into a "grid."
"Should we continue fighting?" Angel softly asks.
Angel is already prepared for Laplace’s retreat; he doesn’t blame her, it’s just that these Eliminators have strange abilities. Breaking through the Eliminator’s blockade is still too difficult with Angel’s current abilities.
Even without the appearance of massive beasts, just relying on a spider monster with unique abilities forces Angel to retreat.
Expand the Wilderness of Dreams territory?
For now, let’s leave it be.
Seeing Laplace still gazing at the sky without speaking, Angel said softly, "It’s okay. I didn’t expect to truly win against the Eliminators from the start. You’ve already impressed me by reaching this point."
After a pause, Angel continued, "Whether we’re successful or not, I’ll give you an explanation after we leave here."
Angel spoke for quite a while, then Laplace finally opened her mouth: "It’s different."
"Ah?" Angel looked at Laplace in confusion: "What’s different?"
Laplace: "This Magic Monster is different from those before... I’m very sure."
The spider Magic Monster is different from the previous army of Magic Monsters? Angel recalled Laplace mentioning this before, though at the time, she didn’t elaborate.
Now, she brought up the topic again, could it be that she discovered something?
Curious, Angel asked, "How is it different?"
Laplace finally turned her head, looking at Angel: "Those previous Magic Monsters, I don’t know whether they’re the so-called Eliminators, but you said they’re from the Dream Realm, and I believe you."
"But this spider Magic Monster is different; it’s not like it’s from the Dream Realm."
Angel originally thought Laplace would say the strength or intelligence was different, but didn’t expect Laplace to drop such a bombshell.
"Spider Magic Monster isn’t from the Dream Realm?!" Angel’s expression was full of surprise.
If it’s not an Eliminator from the Dream Realm, could this spider Magic Monster be a creature from the Void? Did they just have bad luck and accidentally encounter it?
Angel pondered a moment, then asked: "How are you sure it’s not from the Dream Realm?"
Laplace: "Aura, the aura is completely different."
Laplace glanced at Angel: "Like your aura, the Sage’s aura; in my eyes, they’re the same, all auras from the Wizards’ Realm."
"And those previous Magic Monsters, their auras were ethereal and faint, even with a hint of Illusion taste, unlike any Magical Creature I’ve encountered. You said they were Magic Monsters from the Dream Realm, and I believe you."
"But this spider Magic Monster is different. Its aura, after I continuously killed its true form several times, I already sensed it."
Laplace whispered as she spoke: "It’s not from the Dream Realm, nor is it from the Wizards’ Realm, rather... the Mirror World."
Angel was just surprised before, but now he stepped back in shock: "It’s a Magic Monster from the Mirror World?! Are you sure?"
Laplace nodded: "Though its aura is somewhat abnormal, not like the biological aura from the Mirror Domain I’m in, when it splits, the energy core produced is Aggregation Energy, I’m very sure I didn’t sense wrong."
Angel naturally trusts Laplace’s judgment, and upon deeper thought, he also believes this matter is highly possible.
Be it the Wilderness of Dreams, the Wilderness of Dreams again, or today’s Crystal Origin of Dreams, they’re all actually crevices between different worlds.
The Wilderness of Dreams is a crevice among the Wizards’ Realm, the Dream Realm, and the Nightmare Realm.
The Wilderness of Dreams again is a crevice among the Abyss, the Dream Realm, and the Nightmare Realm.
The Crystal Origin of Dreams is a crevice among the Mirror World, the Dream Realm, and the Nightmare Realm.
Given these crevices among three worlds, there are channels to the Dream Realm and the Nightmare Realm, and there must correspondingly be channels to the Wizards’ Realm, Abyss, and Mirror World.
Thus, Eliminators could very well come from three worlds.
It’s just that in the Nightmare Realm, Angel is a "notable figure", so the Nightmare Realm’s Eliminators don’t require consideration. But Eliminators from the other two realms are quite possible.
Back during the establishment of the Wilderness of Dreams, the Dream Realm sent Eliminators, which were defeated by Shava. The intentions of the Wizards’ Realm perhaps realized they couldn’t deal with Shava and simply withdrew, not sending Eliminators from the Wizards’ Realm to make fools of themselves.
And for the Wilderness of Dreams again... the Dream Realm’s Eliminators directly tore it apart, so the Abyss didn’t need to send any Eliminators.
But now the Crystal Origin of Dreams is different, the Dream Realm’s Eliminators, being the initial army of Magic Monsters, were eradicated by Laplace.
The Dream Realm’s Eliminators are barely dealt with, so naturally, the Mirror World’s Eliminators emerge on cue.
This spider Magic Monster is the Eliminator sent by the Mirror World!
After realizing this, Angel felt deeply sentimental.
The first establishment of the Wilderness of Dreams was far too easy, leading him to miss out on much intelligence for mapping new territories, what encounters, entanglements, could there be gambling, how many sides’ Eliminators... all these issues were unknown to him.
Only this time, by personally establishing the Crystal Origin of Dreams, these previously overlooked issues were addressed one by one.
While feeling sentimental, Angel also felt somewhat at ease.
This time’s creation of the Crystal Origin of Dreams was too rushed; everything starts anew, and he had to accept every obstacle he encountered. Now, even if the construction of the Crystal Origin of Dreams fails, Angel accepts it.
At least, he learned the difficulties in expanding territories, and also learned Eliminators do not only come from the Dream Realm; all this intelligence is extremely useful.
When future opportunities arise to expand his map again, he will naturally make more comprehensive preparations.
Just as Angel was expressing his relief and indicating he’d give up, on the other side, Laplace turned towards him, looking puzzled: "When did I say I was going to give up?"
Angel was taken aback. Weren’t your words an indication of giving up?
Laplace: "Since I’ve confirmed this spider Magic Monster is a creature of the Mirror World, I naturally have a way to deal with it. However, I need you to cooperate with me."
Angel was helpless when he talked about giving up. If there really is a chance to drive away the Eliminators, he wouldn’t give up. Now that Laplace says there’s a way to deal with the spider Magic Monster, Angel immediately regains his spirit:
"How do I cooperate?"
Laplace: "The avatars you see are actually a type of variation of the Temporal Body."
Angel: "So?"
Laplace: "The essence of the Temporal Body is actually memory. Previously, when I killed a split of the spider Magic Monster, I could clearly perceive that indeed memory detached from the split after its death. Moreover, this memory is almost identical to the memory from the Sea of Void Mirror."
That is to say, the spider Magic Monster is also a creature from the Sea of Void Mirror, though perhaps not from the Mirror Domain Laplace resides in, but another Mirror Domain’s Sea of Void Mirror.
The spider Magic Monster absorbs the memory of the Sea of Void Mirror to create Temporal Bodies; these Temporal Bodies are what we call the splits.
"To deal with Temporal Bodies centered around memory, I have a very effective method."
Angel: "What’s the method?"
Laplace said quietly: "...Forest of Memories."
