Chapter 3179 - 3180: The Breath of Hai Kute

Chapter 3179: Chapter 3180: The Breath of Hai Kute

There are four entries on the mysterious object list.

The first and second entries are clues about the ’Unknown Smooth Arm’ and the ’Growth Ray’.

These two can be set aside for now.

The third entry is the Spiral Patterned Sharp Fruit.

This is a type of fruit, there is an illustration of it on the list, it looks like a sharp-bottomed apple, but the skin is covered in spiral patterns.

Although it’s Angel’s first time seeing this fruit, he has heard of the species known as "Sharp Fruit".

The name Sharp Fruit is quite ordinary, but its background is significant, traceable even to the Deity.

Sharp Fruit comes from the Druna Plane, a realm where a very rare humanoid race—the Sharp People—live, named so because the top of their skulls are in a pointed cone shape.

The civilization of the Sharp People is still in the primitive tribal stage; each tribe worships its own Deity, which are mostly beast-shaped gods, also called "Beast Gods" or "Outer Gods" by wizards.

The so-called "Sharp Fruit" actually refers to the fruit borne by the Sacred Tree of the Sharp People tribes.

The seeds of the Sacred Tree are said to be gifts from the Deity, and therefore, the Sacred Trees of different Sharp People tribes vary.

Naturally, the "Sharp Fruits" borne by different Sacred Trees also differ.

The only similarity is that consuming the fruit grants unbelievable powers.

So, if the "Spiral Patterned Sharp Fruit" on this list is truly from the Druna Plane, should it also possess some special effects?

However, even if it does have special effects, Angel couldn’t possibly buy it to eat. After all, the seeds of the Sacred Tree come from Outer Gods, who knows if there’s a trap from them in the fruit?

Though eating it is out of the question, it doesn’t stop Angel from being curious about the Sharp Fruit.

"May I take a look at the Sharp Fruit first?" Angel looked at the man in the black robe.

He had only ever seen records of Sharp Fruit in books and had never seen it with his own eyes; if the man in the black robe would allow it, this would be a great opportunity for observation.

Man in Black Robe: "If the guest wants a look, that’s no problem. But is the guest only curious about the Sharp Fruit? Aren’t you interested in clues about the Mysterious Object?"

The man in the black robe looked at Angel, although his face was shadowed, Angel could still feel his scrutinizing gaze.

Angel: "Having a clue doesn’t necessarily mean you can find it. Moreover, some clues are common and everywhere."

"Also, Mysterious Objects aren’t ordinary Alchemy Tools; with a slight mistake, they might lead to unknown danger." Angel hinted, "Risking your life to chase after elusive Mysterious Objects is not worth it."

After hearing Angel’s words, the man in the black robe was silent for a moment, "Seems I’ve been too clever for my own good."

The man in the black robe then walked forward, gently brushing his hand over the list representing mysterious objects, causing the entries of the first two lines to slowly disappear.

After the two lines disappeared, new characters gradually appeared on the paper.

"Breath of Haitkut."

Angel muttered the new entry softly, looking at the man in the black robe in confusion, "Is this also a clue to a Mysterious Object?"

The man in the black robe shook his head, "No, this is not a clue, but a Secret Treasure, a Secret Treasure that I own."

Secret Treasure.

A day ago, Angel might have thought Secret Treasures were just a generic term, but now he understood that Secret Treasures actually referred to semi-mysterious objects.

The man in the black robe had erased the two useless clues prior, replacing them with a "Secret Treasure" he owned.

"Secret Treasure? Is this something you’re looking to sell?" Although Angel still didn’t know what type of Secret Treasure the ’Breath of Haitkut’ was, it didn’t stop his curiosity towards Secret Treasures.

Even though he could refine so-called "Secret Treasures" himself, Angel knew that his creations depended on the Mad Hat’s support, with their maximum potential greatly limited and hardly having room for further advancement. But a naturally occurring Secret Treasure might have room for more development, just like ’Shock’s Ghost House’, which Angel had a vague feeling held an unspoken secret, and once unveiled, might advance even further. It even might become a true Mysterious Object, not impossible.

So, even though he could refine Secret Treasures, he still was interested in other Secret Treasures.

The man in the black robe shook his head, "No, this Secret Treasure is available for rental, but not for sale."

A Secret Treasure that can be rented is undoubtedly an auxiliary type of Secret Treasure.

Just like Shock’s Ghost House, its replacement of time sense can be considered an auxiliary effect.

"What is its effect?" Angel asked.

The man in the black robe didn’t speak but gestured for Angel to continue looking at the list.

Angel looked down and saw that after the line of ’Breath of Haitkut’, a new line of text had appeared, detailing the effects of this Secret Treasure.

After reading through the effects, Angel was a bit disappointed.

The effects of this Secret Treasure were excellent, but unsuitable for him.

The effect of the "Breath of Haitkut" Secret Treasure is that when the body hosts multiple different bloodlines, the breath blown out by Haitkut can allow the multiple bloodlines to have a higher chance of achieving relative balance.

The more bloodlines hosted, the more unique the bloodlines, the lower the effect of achieving balance.

Generally speaking, the success rate for balancing two ordinary bloodlines is near one hundred percent; but if it is two special bloodlines, the success rate might be only sixty to seventy percent.

If there are more than three bloodlines, the success rate of achieving balance will be increasingly lower.

The effect of this Secret Treasure may not seem substantial, but its actual value is quite high, and if revealed, a wizard might be willing to exchange a real Mysterious Object for it.

Because this Secret Treasure can truly be termed a "Bloodline Modification Artifact".

In the bloodline branch there are three main schools: Blood Origin, Pureblood, and Modification. Modification eschews the quest for bloodline purity, leaning instead towards the pursuit of extraordinary organs, dedicated to enabling multiple bloodlines to coexist within one body.

Once multiple bloodlines succeed in achieving balance within a wizard’s body, the modified wizard will possess multiple extraordinary abilities.

This gives the modification branch far greater diversity in abilities compared to Blood Origin and Pureblood wizards.

However, with advantages come disadvantages.

The biggest flaw of the modification branch is that multiple bloodlines in the body can easily cause conflicts, resulting in rejection effects.

Once rejection occurs, the mild consequence is the loss of a bloodline; the severe is suffering irreversible damage.

Therefore, the modification branch places utmost importance on finding ways to balance and integrate multiple bloodlines through permutation and combination.

Until now, only a scant thousand permutation methods of bloodlines have been found.

If the modification branch obtained the "Breath of Haitkut" Secret Treasure, the number of combinations would directly increase significantly! Although still unable to achieve a qualitative change, it would certainly promote the branch’s development.

It could be said that in the hands of a bloodline wizard from the modification branch, this Secret Treasure would be no less than a true Mysterious Object.

But... unfortunately, this Secret Treasure is of no use to Angel.

The only modified organ he possesses is a part of his skin.

Besides that, there are no other modified organs, naturally making balancing methods unnecessary.

Moreover, Angel had no plans to continue modifying organs... in fact, he might even revert the part of his skin that had been modified with Transforming Soft-bodied Insect back to his original skin once he learned true Shapeshifting Technique in the future.

When that time comes, the "Breath of Haitkut" would be even less useful to him.

Perhaps hearing Angel’s sigh, the man in the black robe wondered aloud, "The guest is not satisfied with this Secret Treasure?"

Angel shook his head, "The effect is strong, but unfortunately, I’m not a Wizard of the transformation lineage."

After a pause, Angel looked at the man in the black robe, "Compared to this Secret Treasure, I am more curious to see the spiked fruit."

The man in the black robe pondered for a moment, then nodded, "Alright, please wait a moment."

The man in the black robe walked to the box labeled "Mysterious Object", opened the lid, and inside the box was the familiar swirling blood mist. He reached in with his hand, and a fruit with spiral patterns appeared in his hand.

He placed the fruit in his palm and handed it to Angel.

Angel did not take it, "Just place it aside, no need to hand it to me. I just want to take a look first..."

The man in the black robe didn’t mind and with a raise of his hand, conjured a metal pedestal.

The spiral-patterned spiked fruit was thus placed on the pedestal, allowing Angel to observe it.

The man in the black robe didn’t mind Angel’s observation, nor did he think Angel could glean any information from the exterior of the spiked fruit. However, when he saw a faint golden light surrounding Angel’s eyes, he was suddenly taken aback.

The Eye of Nalda?

Also known as the Alchemy Eye, which can see through the truth of objects.

Those who can use this Spell Technique are basically Alchemists.

Could it be that this red-haired, golden-eyed guest is an Alchemist? The man in the black robe suddenly recalled that earlier, when that heterochromatic-eyed girl was selecting the "Tools" list, she had said, "Compared to other boxes, I believe you would least want to see the tools box."

At the time, the man in the black robe didn’t understand the meaning, but combined with this guess about "Alchemist," he started to understand a bit.

If this person is an Alchemist, he indeed wouldn’t care about tools, because he could refine them himself.

Thinking of this, aside from being surprised, the man in the black robe was mostly delighted.

An Alchemist... The Darkblood Church doesn’t have Alchemists, and even if they did, they wouldn’t send such talented individuals into the hazardous Mirror Domain!

So, this person is definitely not here to hunt me down.

Connecting it with what he said earlier, perhaps, his hope rests on this person...

The man in the black robe felt a rush of excitement, but he quickly calmed himself. Now is not the time to get too excited; at least he needs to know if the other has the capability... Also, if he wants the other’s help, he will certainly need to offer something in return.

The man in the black robe is not afraid of achieving something for it; what he fears is that Angel has no desires.

As of now, Angel has not shown any longing expression for any commodity, not even for the spiked fruit — he is more in an academic state of mind than wanting to purchase.

This made the man in the black robe somewhat uncomfortable.

Perhaps he can only wait for the other to make a request...

...

Angel didn’t know what was going on in the mind of the man in the black robe; however, he did sense the man’s large emotional fluctuations, but he didn’t pay much heed since these fluctuations appeared after he had activated the Eye of Nalda.

The likelihood is that the other guessed he was an Alchemist.

Alchemists are rare in any place. It’s normal for the man in the black robe to have emotional fluctuations.

More than concerning himself with the man’s emotions, he was now more curious about the spiked fruit.

From appearance alone, this spiked fruit is indeed not extraordinary, a blue peel, no fragrance, and spiral patterns circling around it — it flawlessly captures all the tags that would decrease appetite.

Although the appearance is unimpressive, under the Eye of Nalda, the spiked fruit is constantly emitting the information "I am an apple, I am not an apple, I am an apple again, I am not an apple again."

This conflicting information gave his mind’s "server" the illusion of an upcoming crash.

As for the inside of the spiked fruit... the Eye of Nalda couldn’t perceive it.

However, Angel vaguely felt that the interior of the spiked fruit seemed to contain a kind of unknown energy he had never come in contact with before.

Could this be the energy source that grants the "Special Ability" within the spiked fruit? And is this energy source related to the Outer Gods? Angel couldn’t sense it at the moment.

The energy of gods usually contains some form of divinity, but the inside of the spiked fruit lacked such divinity.

Perhaps the spiked fruit isn’t necessarily created by the Outer Gods?

But even so, Angel didn’t intend to taste it.

After collecting almost enough information, Angel put away the Eye of Nalda, then looked up at the man in the black robe across from him.

He originally wanted to say, "I’ve finished my research; you can take it away now."

But after considering it, he thought that might be a bit inappropriate.

After all, this was someone else’s merchandise, not an experimental object for his research.

Angel coughed lightly, "I heard someone mention spiked fruit before, said to come from the Sharp People Tribe of the Druna Plane. Different tribes’ spiked fruits have differing effects. I wonder what the effect of this spiked fruit is?"

The man in the black robe shook his head, "I came across this spiked fruit by accident. Later I researched a lot of materials, but I couldn’t find any similar spiked fruit, so... I don’t know its specific effect either."

Angel never intended to buy it, and upon hearing that the man in the black robe didn’t know the fruit’s effect, he was prepared to use that as an excuse to refuse.

However, before he could speak, Laplace, beside him, suddenly said, "This is a spiked fruit cultivated by the Beast Tongue Prophet."

Angel and the man in the black robe were both stunned and simultaneously turned to Laplace.

"You recognize it?" Angel asked, puzzled.

Laplace nodded, "I’ve seen similar spiked fruits before; this should be a spiked fruit cultivated by the Beast Tongue Prophet of the Hundred Beasts Tribe."

"The Hundred Beasts Tribe is a mid-sized tribe in the Druna Plane, proficient in beast taming. Their beast taming ability is related to this type of spiked fruit."

The man in the black robe’s eyes lit up and he said excitedly, "Are you saying that this spiked fruit can grant someone the ability to tame beasts?"

If it indeed has the beast taming effect, it would be a significant boon, even for him!

Laplace shook his head, "No, this spiked fruit is not meant for humans, but for Beast Species. Its effect is to give speechless beasts the ability to speak."

Angel, the man in the black robe: "..."

This ability is truly useless.

Extraordinary Monsters, even if they can’t speak, can convey information through spiritual power; and magical creatures that can’t speak generally lack rationality, so even if they could speak, what’s the point? It only allows beasts to speak, not open their minds.

Therefore, this spiked fruit is undoubtedly useless among the useless.

The man in the black robe turned to Angel, "Would you like to look at other items?"

Now, he didn’t even need to politely refuse, the man in the black robe had already assumed the spiked fruit was too worthless and that Angel wouldn’t be interested.

Angel indeed wasn’t interested... Although he could give this spiked fruit to Toby to eat, there was really no need. Even if Toby didn’t speak, Angel could understand Toby’s intentions.

Compared to Toby, the Dalmatian would actually be more suitable.

However, the Dalmatian can talk, it just doesn’t want to speak in front of him... Doesn’t it communicate well with Wang Wang?

Angel didn’t dwell on it further and shifted his gaze to the last item on the Mysterious Object list.
