Chapter 3267 - 3268: Dog Deacon

Chapter 3267: Chapter 3268: Dog Deacon

Temporal Body?!

Angel looked at Laplace in astonishment; this was completely unexpected.

Not only was Angel surprised, but Gutalace next to him widened her eyes in shock. In the Cross All Things House, the most famous deacon was undoubtedly the Dog Deacon.

Its abilities were simply the nemesis of all Mirror Domain creatures.

Fortunately, the Dog Deacon basically never leaves the Everything House, otherwise, it would definitely be specifically targeted.

It was even said that when Gutalace was investigating the Everything House, she had carefully considered whether she should find an opportunity to eliminate the Dog Deacon if it left the Everything House alone and she happened to encounter it. After all, she didn’t want her inner thoughts to be probed.

And such a famous Dog Deacon turned out to be the temporal body of Laplace?

Gutalace only felt a sense of disarray in the wind; previously, she had contemplated intercepting the Dog Deacon, but now it seemed like a complete joke.

"Is it really your Temporal Body?" Gutalace couldn’t help but ask.

If the Dog Deacon is Laplace’s temporal body, does that mean Laplace can also share the ability to penetrate minds?

"It’s both a yes and a no."

Laplace gave a rather ambiguous answer, but she didn’t intend to conceal the truth, as she proceeded to explain why she said this.

"Its body was created by me, but its soul kernel still belongs to itself."

Simply put, when Laplace rescued ’Meatball’ from the Sea of Void Mirror, she found out that its body was actually almost fractured.

After all, Meatball’s body was just a slightly spiritual little dog.

Extraordinary creatures couldn’t withstand the erosion of the Sea of Void Mirror, let alone a mundane domesticated dog with merely a touch of spirituality like Meatball.

When rescuing Meatball, its body already had cracks, and according to usual convention, Meatball would undoubtedly die.

Laplace felt regretful but didn’t take much action, nor did she offer further help.

In the Sea of Void Mirror, she had seen too many hollow creatures eroded to fracturing, and it was impossible for her to rescue every one she saw. She had already shown mercy by lifting Meatball out.

However, just as Meatball was about to burst and dissipate, it suddenly opened its eyes and barked "Wang Wang Wang" at Laplace.

Laplace didn’t understand Meatball’s dog language, but she heard the abundant emotions in its bark.

This shocked Laplace greatly.

You must know, any life that falls into the Sea of Void Mirror will quickly be eroded into hollow creatures. "Hollow" means devoid of emotion, consciousness, memory, and spirituality.

Unless if you fell for a brief period and were lucky enough to be rescued, otherwise, in no time, you’ll turn into a completely unaware empty shell.

Just look at the Star Servant; he hasn’t even restored his ability to think yet.

The force of erosion is really powerful, that much is evident.

Yet Meatball, after being eroded for so long in the Sea of Void Mirror, still had full emotions? The most significant aspect is, Meatball was flushed out from the Sea Eye.

The erosion force around the Sea Eye is the most raging in the entire Sea of Void Mirror.

Even Laplace didn’t dare to casually approach the Sea Eye.

And of the lives that can be flushed out from the Sea Eye, even with Laplace’s rescue, ninety-nine out of a hundred would shatter; the remaining one, even if barely keeping the flesh, would absolutely turn into a hollow life.

Meatball was the first exception Laplace had seen in so many years.

Moreover, it was just a domestic dog.

So due to Meatball’s series of "Wang Wang" barks, Laplace was moved with compassion and used some means to preserve Meatball’s near-bursting body.

Then, Laplace placed Meatball into the Memory Forest; she needed the Law Vein power within the Memory Forest to determine if Meatball truly possessed emotions.

Through the reflection of the Memory Forest, even though Meatball couldn’t express through words, Laplace still saw Meatball’s memories.

Meatball’s memories had actually faded a lot, but its core memory had not been eroded away.

And Meatball’s core memory was a fragment about a little girl—

A filthy, scarred little puppy was lying in the snow, on the verge of death. As the wind and snow were about to carry it to its end, suddenly, a flame ignited in the darkness, and the puppy opened its frost-covered eyelids and vaguely saw a little girl lighting a match.

After being picked up by the little girl, the puppy gained a new life. Its mangy fur gradually became thick; its skinny physique turned rounded. Most importantly, its dim eyes regained their former brightness.

The puppy continually accompanied the little girl as she grew up; the girl turned into a young lady, and the puppy became a mature dog.

And this mature dog was Meatball.

The above was Meatball’s most precious, core memory. How it rushed into the Sea Eye was not shown.

The only known fact was that Meatball guarded this most precious fragment of memory cautiously, preserving it through the Sea Eye’s crossing and its impending body burst without discarding it.

Although Laplace didn’t know how Meatball managed to traverse the Sea Eye while retaining her memory, there are always unique talent possessors in this world. Just as Laplace doesn’t know why she herself doesn’t fear the Sea of Void Mirror.

Perhaps Meatball also possesses some peculiar talent.

Upon discovering that Meatball indeed retained basic emotions, Laplace decided to save it.

She wanted to study the unique aspect of Meatball.

However, Meatball’s body was already at the brink of bursting, and there were only two ways to save it. Either freeze its body and repair it slowly with special healing techniques, or simply give it a new body.

The former takes time, and Laplace cannot guarantee this method wouldn’t harm Meatball’s fragile consciousness.

Replacing the body seemed difficult, but for Laplace, it was the easiest method.

Because, inside the Memory Forest, she had stored countless temporal bodies.

Though these temporal bodies were either half-finished or discarded ones, they were more than sufficient for Meatball’s use.

However, Laplace didn’t really select a temporal body from the Memory Forest for Meatball, mainly because those stored in the Memory Forest each had their own memories which, once lit, could possibly form new personalities.

This means if Meatball inhabited these temporal bodies, its fragile consciousness could possibly be replaced by the newborn consciousness.

To avoid this, Laplace straightforwardly custom-made a new temporal body for Meatball.

She used Meatball’s memory projected in the Memory Forest and combined it with Meatball’s shattered body to create a temporal body. The form of the temporal body was identical to Meatball’s.

Additionally, she input some basic knowledge of the Daylight Mirror Domain into the temporal body to help Meatball better adapt to this world upon awakening.

But, although it is called a "Temporal Body," there is no memory of Laplace itself inside the meatball’s body.

So, it’s more like an avatar that Laplace crafted with their own hands.

If we talk about authority...

That is, the meatball has the usage rights of this body, as well as consciousness autonomy. But if Laplace wants to take over, they can instantly seize control.

"So, you can control the meat... Dog Deacon’s body at any time now?" Gutalace asked.

Laplace shook their head: "I could in the past, but not now."

"Why?" Gutalace asked in confusion. Based on Laplace’s description, shouldn’t she have absolute control over the meatball’s body?

She could in the past, but not now? Is it because the meatball joined Cross All Things House? Can a certain deacon in the House shield Laplace’s control with a special ability?

"Don’t overthink. It’s not that complicated," Glaipnir seemed to see through Gutalace’s thoughts and spoke.

Gutalace: "You can read my mind?"

Glaipnir sneered: "I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I know your thoughts have never been normal."

Gutalace: "..."

At this moment, Laplace also spoke out the answer, and the answer showed that Gutalace indeed overthought.

"About a hundred years ago, the meatball came to the Sea of Void Mirror to find me..."

After Laplace researched the meatball’s Special Talent, they asked what the meatball planned to do next. The meatball said it wanted to find its owner.

But the meatball has too few preserved memories, and even Laplace couldn’t analyze which world the meatball came from, let alone search for a girl with vague memories.

The meatball knew the possibility was very slim, but it was determined to leave anyway.

Laplace didn’t stop it and even instructed Glaipnir to send it out of the Sea of Void Mirror.

Since then, Laplace hadn’t cared about the meatball’s whereabouts.

Until a hundred years ago, when the meatball returned to the Sea of Void Mirror with Glaipnir’s help to see Laplace.

It was during that meeting that Laplace learned the meatball had joined a place called "Cross All Things House."

And the meatball joined the House with a simple intention: to find its owner with the help of the House’s power.

Yes, it still hadn’t forgotten the girl who saved it during its childhood.

Even though a hundred years passed in the blink of an eye, and the other party might have already passed away, it still wanted to see the place where she once lived.

During that meeting, the meatball and Laplace chatted about many stories of its wandering in the Mirror Domain over the years and its dreams... When the meatball left, Laplace released the control.

Completely giving freedom to the meatball.

So, although the meatball is Laplace’s Temporal Body, it’s different from a regular Temporal Body; it is an entirely independent individual.

"Did the Dog Deacon request you to release the control?" Gutalace asked.

Laplace shook their head: "I released it proactively."

Through the meatball’s narration, Laplace was very clear that the meatball’s only dream was to follow in the footsteps of its owner, and to realize this dream, it must go to different worlds.

Laplace had seen too many worlds’ scenes in the Sea of Void Mirror and was very aware that most of the worlds are incredibly dangerous.

Even if the meatball has Special Ability, it might not be able to defuse all risks and might even be targeted by others.

Furthermore, the meatball couldn’t reinforce the body due to lacking control over it, and its weak body was its greatest weakness, which could lead to its downfall in the pursuit of dreams.

Of course, Laplace could use absolute control to help the meatball enhance its body, but she couldn’t keep helping continuously. Especially since the meatball would likely not stay in the Mirror Domain in the future, Laplace couldn’t cross worlds to help it enhance its body.

Thus, Laplace proactively lifted the restrictions on the meatball’s body and returned control to it.

Since the meatball set itself a "grand" dream, its future path would be for it to venture on its own.

From that day forward, Laplace hadn’t been paying attention to the meatball.

Until today, hearing the name Cross All Things House reminded her of the "Temporal Body" she hadn’t seen in a century.

Having listened to Laplace’s narrative, Gutalace understood the situation. She didn’t expect that there was such a story behind the Dog Deacon of Cross All Things House.

After feeling sentimental, she also grew curious about the Dog Deacon and... Laplace.

How did the Dog Deacon preserve memories in the Sea Eye of the Sea of Void Mirror? Laplace said they have researched it, did they find an answer?

Moreover, the Dog Deacon’s special talent for insight into people’s hearts seems to apply to all Mirror Domain creatures, does it work on Laplace?

Since this involves privacy, Gutalace was embarrassed to ask directly, but her eyes kept glancing at Angel.

On this journey, she noticed that Laplace values Angel highly. Generally, if Angel speaks, Laplace would respond.

Therefore, Gutalace hoped Angel could ask the questions she was curious about.

However... Angel didn’t speak.

Although he was curious about how the meatball maintained memories, it was not his top concern at the moment. There was no hurry to ask these questions; what he cared about more now was that Sipolov suddenly disappeared from his senses.

One couldn’t say "disappeared," as through the Dragon Scale’s perception, Angel confirmed Sipolov was still nearby... only that his coordinates became fuzzy, as if isolated by some barrier.

After a moment of contemplation, Angel asked: "What’s in the south of the Yingji Clan’s temporary area?"

Angel could clearly sense that Sipolov had left his original coordinates for the south a few minutes ago. Then, Angel could no longer clearly sense his position.

If Sipolov’s original location was the Yingji Clan’s temporary area, what would be south of the Yingji Clan?

"South of the Yingji Clan?" Gutalace replied without hesitation: "Isn’t that our Divine Eye Tribe’s temporary area? What’s wrong?"

Angel didn’t hide it and expressed his findings from observing the Dragon Scale.

"Sipolov headed south, and the coordinates became fuzzy?" Gutalace contemplated for a moment and shook her head: "He shouldn’t have entered the Divine Eye Tribe’s temporary area; ours doesn’t have any effect that scrambles coordinates."

Moreover, a powerful contract like Dragon Scale wouldn’t be scrambled by ordinary barriers.

"If the Yingji Clan doesn’t have any special shielding devices, then Sipolov’s destination can only be... Cross All Things House."
