Chapter 532: Chapter 180: The ’80s Drama Queen is Forced to Act as a Top Student (15)
Ren Xingchen and the three children were all stunned by Sheng Leyun’s swift and brutal display.
They stood there stunned for a full half-minute before remembering to run out and call for help.
Sheng Leyun propped herself up and sneered at Xiao Xuezhen. "Even if you hadn’t said it, I would have guessed most of it. But now that you’ve admitted it yourself, I won’t stop until I’ve completely destroyed you!"
"We’ll just have to see who’s more cunning—you, or me!"
Xiao Xuezhen’s teeth chattered from the pain. He’d never been hurt like this in his entire life.
His eyes practically bulged with rage. "Sheng Leyun, you just wait! If I don’t send you to meet your father, I’ll be damned!"
"Oh, please don’t," Sheng Leyun tsked, pouring the brine from the pickled vegetables over his wound. "The Sheng Family has no use for a malicious little snake like you," she said with a chilling smile.
Just then, the sound of chaotic footsteps approached from outside the door. A corner of Sheng Leyun’s mouth curled into a smirk. She ripped her collar open, smeared blood on the corner of her lips, and smudged a little more onto her cheek.
She mussed up her hair, tore her dress, and rubbed against the wall until she was covered in dust. Then, she huddled under the table...
Xiao Xuezhen watched, wide-eyed, as she transformed in a matter of seconds. The ominous feeling in his heart grew stronger. "F#@&... your mother..."
Sheng Leyun poked her head out from under the table and made a face at him. "You’ve already accomplished that. No need to announce it again."
’This goddamn pest!’
The blood rushed to Xiao Xuezhen’s head, and he felt dizzy. When the crowd finally arrived, he couldn’t wait to be the first to accuse Sheng Leyun.
"Everyone, you have to stand up for me! I know I’m Sheng Leyun’s stepfather, but I have never once mistreated her."
"But this girl, I don’t know where she heard it from, but she got it in her head that stepfathers are bad. Ever since she came to the Capital City, she’s been trying to stir up trouble between me and her mother. And now... I have no idea what I did to set her off."
"She nailed my hand to the table with a chopstick..."
He convulsed in pain.
The pain in his palm was excruciatingly sharp.
The onlookers glanced at the chopstick, then at the skinny little girl huddled under the small dining table. They all felt something wasn’t quite right.
"Old Xiao, are you sure it was this girl who stabbed you with a chopstick?"
Someone couldn’t just stand by and watch. Frowning, he asked, "To be able to pierce your palm with a chopstick... that requires a great deal of strength and precision. How could a child possibly do that?"
"Why would it be impossible?" Xiao Xuezhen said through gritted teeth, panting heavily. "This girl’s been doing hard labor since she was a kid. Her grip might be stronger than yours or mine! Besides, her mother and my two children all saw it happen."
"There’s no way that’s a lie, is there?"
To corroborate his story, a pale-faced Ren Xingchen, along with Xiao Hailan and Xiao Haiyang, nodded frantically and even pantomimed the event.
"Ever since her father passed away, this child’s temperament has become... a bit extreme," Ren Xingchen said, her expression a mixture of regret and resentment. "No matter what her stepfather might have said to her, how could she just get violent like that?"
"She was the one who told us before that she wanted to live downstairs at Aunt Guo’s, and then a lot of things happened. We feel that it’s difficult to raise three children together under one roof."
"So we gently suggested she could sleep at Aunt Guo’s house. We would still be responsible for her meals, her schooling, her clothes, everything. It would just be like she had an extra grandmother."
"But instead, the girl threw a tantrum. If she didn’t want to, she didn’t have to; we weren’t going to force her. But she started saying all sorts of crazy things, then grabbed a chopstick and stabbed Brother Xiao’s hand..."
Xiao Hailan also started crying, wiping her tears. "Uncles and Aunts, this Sheng Leyun is terrifying. If she stays here, what if one of the neighborhood kids offends her someday? She’ll hold a grudge, and who knows what terrible thing she might do."
"I know her father was our family’s great benefactor. We never for a moment forget Uncle Sheng’s kindness. But repaying a debt of gratitude doesn’t mean we have to risk our own lives!"
"Her mother is her only relative here in the Capital City. If she can’t accept our family, maybe it’s better for her to go back to her hometown. She has more relatives there, and I’m sure my dad would send money every single month."
"I don’t want to see a perfectly good family, a peaceful residential compound, be turned upside down by a vicious, spiteful little girl..."
Xiao Hailan wasn’t old, but she had a keen sense of how to manipulate people.
People loved to watch a good show and play peacemaker, but when their own interests were at stake, they became sharp and decisive.
Xiao Hailan shot her younger brother, Haiyang, a look. He immediately started crying too. "Look! As soon as she got here, she started hanging around with those troublemakers! And she falsely accused Pang and Junzi..."
The two kids in question, who had been pacing anxiously at the edge of the crowd, immediately yelled at the top of their lungs, "Hey! Xiao Hailan, Xiao Haiyang! It’s one thing for you to make up lies, but why are you dragging us into it?"
