Chapter 310: Chapter 300: Crossing the Line
Qin Fen still refused to let go, trying to pull Wenqing back.
It wasn’t that Wenqing’s words didn’t tempt him. He despised Qin Ling, and the thought of making Qin Ling suffer naturally pleased him.
But as for Tang Mo, Qin Fen didn’t actually dislike her. In fact, when he first met her and didn’t know about her relationship with Qin Ling, he’d even admired her to some extent.
Most importantly, Tang Mo was treasured by both the Wen Family and Qin Ling. She was, after all, number one on the Huaxia leaderboard. Even if she was temporarily exhausted, she wasn’t someone you could just take out at will.
He had a feeling that someone with Tang Mo’s personality would always have an ace up her sleeve. If an attack on her failed, her assailant would be the one to pay the price.
"Come back," Qin Fen repeated. Whatever his relationship with Wenqing was, he had brought her here. He had no desire for this stupid woman to cause trouble for him.
But as Wenqing stared at Tang Mo’s weakened state, her mind was completely consumed by thoughts of Tang Mo’s secret Space Treasure. She had lost all reason, and not even Qin Fen could hold her back.
Wenqing quickly broke free from Qin Fen’s grasp and moved toward Tang Mo.
"Don’t come any closer."
Hu Bin stepped in front of Tang Mo to block the way. Although he was a Power Attribute Superpower User, he was naturally peace-loving and avoided conflict. He had never gotten into a fight before, let alone with a girl who looked about the same age as his students.
"Why do you hate me so much?"
Tang Mo asked, while the energy in her body began to circulate faster. She couldn’t care less why Wenqing hated her; she was just trying to buy some time.
’Just one more minute, and I’ll have my full mobility back.’
"Because you’re detestable."
Wenqing answered without hesitation.
But she wasn’t finished. Wenqing leaned in close, speaking in a low voice that only she, Tang Mo, and Hu Bin standing between them could hear.
"When you’re dead, your Space Treasure will be mine."
The look in Tang Mo’s eyes changed at Wenqing’s words. It was that sentence that made her want to kill Wenqing for the very first time.
Tang Mo knew that as she gained more public exposure, it would be difficult to hide the fact that she wasn’t a spatial attribute superpower user. Consequently, anyone with a keen eye could easily deduce that she possessed a Space Treasure.
But the naked greed in Wenqing’s eyes made Tang Mo realize this woman was a venomous snake. Given the chance, she would sink her fangs into Tang Mo’s neck without a second thought.
This was no longer a simple matter of girlish jealousy.
This was the law of the jungle, a brutal struggle for survival and personal gain between adults.
Tang Mo looked away from Wenqing, her gaze shifting to Qin Fen.
"Just a plaything, right?"
Tang Mo’s gaze was piercing, the look in her eyes chilling. It startled Qin Fen, but he quickly understood what she meant—and what she was about to do.
"It doesn’t matter."
Their words seemed unrelated, but they both understood the underlying meaning.
Tang Mo nodded. A dagger, pulled from her Space, suddenly appeared in her hand.
Then, in an instant, she shot up, darted around Hu Bin, slashed the dagger across Wenqing’s throat, and returned to her original spot.
The entire sequence of movements was fluid and seamless, over in less than three seconds.
Her carotid artery severed, blood instantly sprayed out. Wenqing couldn’t even utter a final word, her eyes filled only with shock and indignation.
’How could this be happening?’
’How could this be?’
But no one answers a dead person’s questions, and they are meaningless anyway.
Soon, Wenqing collapsed to the ground. Blood continued to gush from her neck, staining the newly sprouted green grass crimson.
"What a shame for these newborn blades of grass. Seeing such a bloody scene right after you’ve come into the world... I’m truly sorry."
Tang Mo smiled fondly at the budding flowers and plants on the ground, then bent down and wiped her dagger clean on Wenqing’s clothes.
Zhang Chao and his men were still processing what they had just seen, all of them frozen in shock.
’This woman...’
’She’s so ruthless.’
Everyone silently took a step back, making a mental note: ’Never, ever make an enemy of this woman. She’s terrifying.’
Qin Fen also took a silent step back, afraid of getting Wenqing’s blood on his shoes.
He wasn’t the least bit displeased with Tang Mo’s actions, even though he was the one who had brought Wenqing.
’I already warned her. She brought this all on herself; she has no one else to blame.’
’Besides, Tang Mo just asked for my opinion, giving me plenty of face in front of the others. There’s really no reason for me to offend Tang Mo over a mere plaything.’
Tang Mo hadn’t consulted Qin Fen before acting because she was afraid of him. It was simply because when Wenqing had been about to make a move, Qin Fen had tried to stop her.
’Giving him that bit of face was just repayment for him trying to hold her back.’
She didn’t like owing anyone anything.
"So what’s next? How do we get back?"
A spoiled young master like Qin Fen was heartless; he quickly moved on, already thinking about how they were going to get back.
They had been here for a long time and hadn’t found a single treasure. Being trapped here for the rest of their lives would be a miserable fate.
"Isn’t the door right here?"
Tang Mo turned her head and pointed behind Mumu.
At some point, a small pool of water, a few square meters in size, had appeared behind Mumu.
When everyone looked over at the pool, they discovered it wasn’t a pool of water at all, but a mirror.
The mirror reflected the very same cave they had entered from.
This had to be the "door" leading out.
It seemed a door out of this world would only appear once the rules of the "rule day" were modified. Clearly, they all had Tang Mo to thank for this opportunity to leave.
If it had been up to them, they might have taken a lifetime to figure out how to change the day’s rules.
"Thank you for your help. I won’t forget this. Let’s go!"
Zhang Chao bowed to Tang Mo, then led his men into the mirror’s surface and disappeared.
They had come looking for treasure. Since the intel was bad and there was nothing to be found, they were obviously leaving.
"I hope that the next time we meet, we are not enemies."
Qin Fen shot Tang Mo a meaningful glance before he, too, stepped into the mirror.
After Qin Fen stepped into the mirror, several people suddenly ran out from a corner, made a beeline for the mirror, and disappeared through it.
Tang Mo recognized them. They were a few of the Superpower Attribute Users who had been recruited earlier and had been following Qin Fen all along.
They had been hiding to save their own skins. Now that they saw Qin Fen leaving, they scrambled to follow him.
’They’re actually quite pitiful,’ Tang Mo thought. ’Not only did they come all this way for nothing, with no reward to show for it, but if they don’t stick close to Qin Fen, they won’t even be able to get home. They’re worse off than cheap labor tricked into working in a mine.’
