Chapter 315: Chapter 305: Hell Era
"I’ll get the two addresses right now..."
As Tang Mo spoke, she reached into her Space to pull out the addresses for the Power Pearl and the Space Attribute Pearl.
But when she took out the note, Tang Mo froze as she read the words she had written on it before.
Tang Mo remembered that address...
It was where Tang Mo had encountered those kind bears, saved Lin Yu, and obtained the Power Pearl.
The Power Pearl. Tang Mo was stunned.
She turned her attention to her sea of consciousness. Ever since absorbing so much of the Seven-color Power in the Secret Realm, the golden hue within it had grown deeper. It was so dense that even the Power Pearl she had already obtained was now barely visible.
That’s right, she had gotten the Life Energy Pearl from the deep sea, and the Power Pearl from the grasslands.
Because she had just fused with the Life Energy Pearl, Tang Mo had completely forgotten that she already had a Power Pearl.
Well, this was awkward...
That meant there was only one Space Attribute Pearl left in the world now.
"Momo? What’s wrong? Are you okay?"
Qin Ling had been extremely shocked to hear Tang Mo say she had the addresses for the Attribute Pearls.
But he quickly noticed something was wrong with Tang Mo on the other end and hurriedly asked.
"I..."
Tang Mo was at a loss for words, unsure of how to answer Qin Ling.
She had now fused with two pearls, and there was still another one in her sea of consciousness waiting to be fused.
With only the Space Attribute Pearl left out there, it was hard for Tang Mo to say she could be a complete bystander and just hand it over.
Tang Mo’s dilemma didn’t last long. Before she could figure out what to say, a sudden, cataclysmic change in the world answered for her.
On Qin Ling’s end, before he could get a reply from Tang Mo, he discovered the video feed had suddenly cut out.
"Hello? Momo?"
Qin Ling anxiously tried to call her back, only to find that his entire ID Watch was as if it had been turned off. It wouldn’t turn on again; the screen was completely black.
The ID Watch was specifically manufactured for the apocalypse. It ran on solar power, and even a sliver of light was enough to sustain it for a long time. Even if it went without light for an extended period, its built-in battery could last for a year or two. How could it possibly have a black screen and be powered off?
"Boss, someone just came from the research institute. They said..."
Just as Qin Ling was fiddling with the ID Watch, his second-in-command came over, his expression grave and solemn.
His second-in-command was a very steady person who didn’t normally let his emotions show on his face so easily.
One glance at him, and Qin Ling knew things weren’t that simple.
"What did the people from the research institute say?"
"They said that, starting today, the Hell Era has officially begun."
Meanwhile, when Tang Mo saw Qin Ling’s image suddenly disappear, she actually felt a sense of relief.
Tang Mo didn’t react much to the ID Watch’s black screen. After all, she was still in a cave, and the watch had been just as unreliable back in the Secret Realm, so she was already used to it.
But she hadn’t been relieved for long before Tang Mo noticed the ground beneath her feet seemed to be shaking. The tremors grew more and more intense, showing no sign of stopping.
When she had acquired the Spirit Power Pearl underground in Sand Town, Tang Mo had personally experienced just how terrifying an earthquake could be when you were beneath the surface.
So, the moment she felt the shaking, she immediately bolted for the tunnel entrance, practically flying and scrambling her way out. Her speed was astonishing.
By the time Tang Mo burst out of the tunnel and was back on solid ground, she looked around and finally understood that this was no simple earthquake.
Huge fissures had appeared in the middle of the Apocalypse Garbage Dump, as if tectonic shifts were carving the perfectly fine landmass into several new plates.
As the fissures continued to widen, the trash piled on the surface slid down into them.
Soon, a fissure opened up right at Tang Mo’s feet. Unfazed, she controlled her spiritual power, shaping it into a cloud, and rose into the air by stepping onto it.
If the people who were terrified by the fissures, fleeing in every direction with nowhere to go, were to see Tang Mo casually ascending into the air, they would probably go mad with envy.
The higher she went, the clearer her view of the scene below became.
Tang Mo saw countless fissures spreading like centipedes, carving terrifying patterns into the once-whole earth.
After Hu Bin led his people into the Secret Realm, the Apocalypse Garbage Dump had become virtually deserted. There were few mutant beasts, just endless mountains of trash being passively swallowed by the giant chasms.
Tang Mo drifted across the sky on her cloud. She flew very high to avoid drawing attention, but she could still clearly see the scenery below.
Calling it scenery wasn’t quite right, because it was nothing beautiful. It was more like a disaster movie playing out in real time.
Faced with this sudden cataclysm, people screamed and fled, desperately seeking a safer place for themselves.
Tang Mo watched as countless people, too slow to outrun the widening fissures, fell straight in and vanished without a trace.
The survivors had no time to pay attention to any of this, because the next person to fall into the bottomless abyss could be them if they lost focus for even a second.
But where in this world was there a safe place now?
Humanity had lost its home long ago. Where could they possibly flee to now?
Base walls were torn apart by the shifting land, and the people inside began to flee in all directions. The temporary havens humanity had built were mercilessly dismantled by nature, throwing those who had just managed to find a way to survive back into the cruelest of worlds.
’No wonder they call it the Hell Era. It’s truly cruel.’
This time, however, humanity was clearly much more practiced at facing the apocalypse. Even as they screamed in fear, it didn’t affect the speed at which they fled for their lives.
This practiced, instinctual reaction to a fight for survival was simply heartbreaking.
Tang Mo watched the scene below with a detached heart. No matter how sturdy the repaired fortifications, they couldn’t withstand the destruction of nature.
This was true for small bases, and even S Base couldn’t escape the fate of destruction.
The cataclysm was still ongoing. It was possible that after today, the very concept of a "base" would no longer exist.
Many of the bases, after all, had been built long in advance, with the government having sensed the coming apocalypse.
Now that they were all destroyed, it would be nearly impossible to gather the manpower and resources to spend another year or two building something similar in such a harsh natural environment.
Humanity’s last chance to escape this world had been stripped away.
Tang Mo suddenly felt a bit of gratitude for the choice Hu Bin and the others had made. ’How fortunate they were,’ she thought, ’to have found their own Peach Blossom Spring before the Hell Era arrived.’
