Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 401 - 391: Yang Ming

Chapter 401: Chapter 391: Yang Ming

The more Qi Jiaming’s parents listened to their son, the more shocked they became. They had barely left their house since the apocalypse began and knew nothing about the outside world.

If anyone else had told them these things that defied their understanding, they might not have believed it. But since it was their own son, they naturally believed him one hundred percent.

"To think a paradise like this actually exists!"

Although Qi Jiaming’s parents hadn’t encountered any real danger, the loneliness and hunger from being isolated together for so long had nearly consumed them.

There was nothing to hesitate about. Being able to stay with their son and old friends was a dream come true.

The villa was large, but there wasn’t much they needed to bring. After packing three backpacks with daily necessities and the last little bit of food they had, the two of them set off with Tang Mo.

Actually, they were setting off *into the sky*...

The phrase might sound a little strange, but it was the truth.

Riding for the first time, Qi Jiaming’s parents were quite reserved. They sat ramrod straight, not daring to glance down.

They were unlike Qiao Jin’s parents. After all, Qiao Jin’s parents had traveled a great deal during the apocalypse and faced life-or-death situations, making them much braver than they used to be.

Tang Mo was very understanding. She thoughtfully slowed down the small airship, and the group proceeded leisurely toward the base.

With the extra time on the journey, Qi Jiaming told his parents about everything that had happened recently, what life was like at the base, and what they should pay attention to.

Although Qi Jiaming glossed over the details and omitted many of the dangerous events, his parents were still on the edge of their seats as they listened.

The four of them continued at a slow pace all the way to the Yang Family Base.

At the main gate of the base, the soldiers on duty reported to Boss Yang that Qiao Jin had returned with two extra people, and they immediately received the order to open the gate.

Furthermore, Boss Yang thoughtfully arranged for Qi Jiaming’s parents to live right next to Qiao Jin’s parents at the base.

The Qi family was ecstatic. The feeling of security from living in the base next to familiar friends was something they had never expected.

Tang Mo, however, wasn’t surprised at all.

’After all, I’m the one who brought them back. Boss Yang is sharp enough to know what to do. Not to mention that I brought his daughter and grandson home before; he’s also relying on me for that upcoming plan.’

After entering the base, Qi Jiaming’s parents wanted to thank Boss Yang in person, but Tang Mo stopped them.

She told them there was no need for such a small thing. Besides, Boss Yang was completely focused on tomorrow’s plan and wasn’t in the mood for guests.

Afterward, Qi Jiaming’s parents went to see George Lin and his wife. The four of them had helped each other for a time at the beginning of the apocalypse, so their bond was naturally deep.

And because their children had helped each other so much, the four parents, in a moment of excitement, decided to officially recognize the other’s child as their godson and goddaughter. After all, Qi Jiaming had already called them "Dad" and "Mom" back at the food factory.

Qiao Jin was a few months older than Qi Jiaming, so she naturally became his sworn older sister.

Tang Mo hadn’t expected this. She already had a younger brother in her real life, and now she’d picked up another one in this mission world. ’Looks like I’m fated to be an older sister my whole life,’ she thought.

In fact, on the way there, Qi Jiaming’s parents had quietly asked him about his intentions.

They had always thought Qi Jiaming was so attentive to Qiao Jin because he had romantic feelings for her, but he had shaken his head frantically.

’Are you kidding me? That’s Sister Qiao! With that authority, that presence... I couldn’t even begin to have any improper thoughts about her.’

’If I had any feelings for her, it was only respect and admiration... maybe even... reverence?’

George Lin and Mrs. Qiao could also tell that their daughter had no romantic feelings for the Qi boy either. And so, with a touch of regret, both sets of parents gave up on the idea of becoming in-laws.

Becoming godparents was good too. This way, they gained a son or a daughter, and everyone in the family was happy and harmonious.

Tang Mo was also quite satisfied. For one, she felt that Qi Jiaming was truly a person who valued relationships and loyalty. His parents were reasonable people too, and they were good friends with Qiao Jin’s parents.

’On the other hand,’ she mused, ’when I leave in the future, Qiao Jin’s parents will still have a son to look after them. That’s a very good thing.’

Just as the Qi and Qiao families were getting settled, Yang Ming returned.

Tang Mo hadn’t expected Yang Ming to return so quickly.

Apparently, after Boss Yang sent a group of superpower users in modified armored vehicles yesterday, the battle had ended quickly thanks to the pincer attack from both inside and out.

After the battle ended, Yang Ming didn’t return with the main group but came back ahead of them on his own.

He was an experienced speed-type superpower user; he could travel faster on his own than the vehicles.

As for the Meat Dragons on the road, dodging them was a simple matter for a speed-type superpower user.

Ever since seeing his wife at the base, he had been so worried about her and their child that he couldn’t wait another moment.

When Yang Ming announced his arrival at the main gate, Boss Yang and Yang Ahua came out to greet him together.

At the sight of him, Yang Ahua threw her arms around her husband and burst into tears.

Yang Ming first comforted his wife, then began to thank Boss Yang for arranging a place for his wife and child and for taking care of them.

"What’s it to you that I’m taking care of my own daughter and grandson?"

Boss Yang, who had been happy to see Yang Ming return, suddenly got angry again upon hearing his words of thanks.

"Huh?"

’What daughter? What grandson?’

For a moment, Yang Ming was petrified—literally petrified, as if he’d turned to stone.

He stood there stunned, looking from his wife to the boss, at a loss for words.

"Come on, let’s talk inside."

It was Yang Ahua who pulled her husband away, planning to explain everything to him slowly once they were in their room.

So much time had passed without them realizing it. The conflict between her and her father had been resolved, and now it was time to tell her husband everything.

Yang Ahua was very clever. She pulled Yang Ming into her room, leaned against him, and slowly explained everything.

During her explanation, she made sure to emphasize that while her father hadn’t approved of their marriage at first, Yang Ming’s outstanding performance and actions in the military had slowly changed his mind.

She said that her reconciliation with her father was all because of the good impression Yang Ming had made, which had led her father to admire him greatly.

Upon suddenly learning that the boss who had always supported him was actually his father-in-law, Yang Ming had felt a strange twinge. But after hearing his wife’s explanation, the last trace of discomfort vanished.

A clever woman knows how to protect a man’s pride to maintain family unity, and in this, Yang Ahua had done an excellent job.
