Chapter 451: Chapter 441: Role Reversal
"Dad, that’s enough! If you keep hitting him, you’re going to kill him."
Seeing that it was about enough, Xu Ru spoke up to stop him.
For the relatively young Xu Ru, murder was a terrifying prospect. She had never even seen a dead body before.
Little did Xu Ru know that she was currently in the same room with several corpses.
Zhang Laohu’s bloodcurdling screams sounded as if he was just a second away from being beaten to death.
Seeing the man was barely breathing, Xu Yuanshan stopped.
’So what if he’s young and strong?’
’So what if he’s a vicious brute?’
’With a broken arm and beaten into this state, there’s no way he can beat me now.’
Xu Yuanshan rested for a long moment, panting heavily. Seeing that Zhang Laohu was still lying there, apparently not having recovered, he felt his nerves calm considerably.
He bent down, untied Zhang Laohu, and said, "Can we talk about cooperation now?"
The man who had just been on the verge of death opened his eyes. Xu Yuanshan looked down and saw that any trace of weakness was gone from his gaze.
"That’s right. Now we can talk about what happens next."
Zhang Laohu slowly got to his feet, stretching his bruised limbs that had been bound for so long.
Xu Yuanshan had indeed been ruthless, but even with a useless arm, a superpower user with a strengthened body had only lost a fraction of his Combat Power.
And his remaining strength was more than enough to deal with the people in front of him.
Seeing the man he had just beaten to a pulp now looking at him with vengeance in his eyes, Xu Yuanshan picked up the chair again.
"I’d advise you to behave. You’re a cripple now, so don’t struggle uselessly."
Despite his words, Xu Yuanshan couldn’t stop himself from backing away.
Zhang Laohu was tall, looming over Xu Yuanshan by more than half a head. His slow, deliberate advance inspired boundless terror.
"Is that so?"
Zhang Laohu lifted his leg and sent Xu Yuanshan flying with a single kick.
He literally flew.
Xu Yuanshan’s body traveled in a parabola, flying across the room and slamming hard against the opposite wall before crashing to the floor.
If the wall hadn’t been there, he might have flown even higher.
Xu Yuanshan felt as if every bone in his body had shattered. He lay sprawled on the floor, unable to get up.
’A monster. He’s definitely a monster.’
’How could a normal person be this strong, especially right after having an arm disabled?’
"Dad!"
Xu Ru cried out in terror. She tried to run to Xu Yuanshan, but Tan Jing grabbed her arm and held her fast.
"It was all his idea! My daughter and I had nothing to do with it."
They say a husband and wife are like birds sharing a tree, but fly their separate ways when disaster strikes. That saying is no lie.
Even Xu Ru’s eyes widened in disbelief as she heard her mother’s words.
Xu Ru had been spoiled her whole life, making her selfish and foolish. But she was still young and hadn’t seen much of the world, so a scene like this was simply impossible for her to accept.
"Hmph."
Zhang Laohu sneered. He was all too familiar with scenes of wives abandoning their husbands in the face of disaster.
"Relax. I’m not going to kill you, and he’s not going to die either."
Zhang Laohu gestured toward Xu Yuanshan.
"After all, you two are my future... oh, no, as of today, you’re my father-in-law and mother-in-law. Why would I ever hurt you?"
A smile spread across Zhang Laohu’s face—a genuine one, but it was so unsettling it bordered on terrifying.
"What did you say?!"
Xu Yuanshan was still sprawled on the ground, struggling to recover. His ears were ringing, and he couldn’t quite make out what was being said.
It was Tan Jing who reacted first, flying into a rage.
Pulling her daughter protectively behind her, she shrieked, "Are you insane? Xiao Ru is just a child! She’s too young!"
Tan Jing’s attitude toward her daughter was a world apart from how she had just treated her husband.
"Too young? She looks plenty grown-up to me."
A lecherous look filled Zhang Laohu’s eyes.
Hiding behind Tan Jing, Xu Ru trembled with fear.
’What kind of person was Zhang Laohu? A typical village hoodlum. He was tall, sure, but his features were coarse, and his skin was dark and dry. To Xu Ru, he was absolutely repulsive.’
’A man like that wanted to be her boyfriend? Had he lost his mind, or had the whole world gone mad?’
If Xu Ru’s family had known they were in a room with several corpses, they might have realized that the world had, in fact, gone mad long ago.
Meanwhile, Tang Mo had felt a few strands of her spiritual power snap. She had ignored it at first, but after a few days, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
’This world’s apocalypse is different from the last one. Here, when people die, no one collects the bodies.’
’In the last apocalypse, corpses were a hot commodity—rations for the mutant beasts.’
’But here, bodies are just left to stink and rot.’
Tang Mo didn’t know what would happen if the body of a superpower user was left to rot. What if it mutated? Wouldn’t that instantly upgrade her mission from Easy Mode to Hell Mode?
’No.’
The more Tang Mo thought about it, the more uneasy she became. She decided she had to go check on the property management center and, while she was at it, deal with Xu Yuanshan and his family.
Given the depth of Xu Yin’s hatred for that family, simply kicking them out of the house was nowhere near enough.
Even killing them wouldn’t be truly satisfying for Tang Mo, but there was no way she would let them remain alive in this world when she eventually left it.
Then there was Zhang Laohu and his men. She hoped they were already dead. If not, today would be the perfect opportunity to deal with them all.
There was no reason to let such a menace linger.
Tang Mo didn’t want to leave any lingering trouble for Xu Jinsan and his wife after the apocalypse was over and she was gone.
In the mood to wipe them all out, root and stem, Thanos Tang Mo picked a bright and pleasant day to head out.
She wasn’t worried about her family noticing she was gone. Once her door was shut, no one would dare enter her room without permission.
Even two-year-old Pingping and An’an knew not to mess with their big sister.
Neither of them had ever seen Tang Mo truly angry, but a child’s intuition is often the sharpest.
Tang Mo strolled leisurely outside. The fog that made everyone else retreat in fear couldn’t even get close to her.
’It had been far too long since she’d been outside.’
Although the thick fog meant visibility was low and there wasn’t much of a view, Tang Mo, having been cooped up inside for so long, was in a delightful mood.
She had never stayed home for such a long time.
The property management center wasn’t far from Tang Mo’s home; a slow, ten-minute walk was all it took to get there.
Only when she was near the property management center did Tang Mo release her spiritual power to observe the situation inside.
But what she found inside the property management center took her by surprise.
"Hm? How did this happen? Then again, this might not be so bad..."
A smile spread across Tang Mo’s face.
