Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 98 - 90: Wenqing’s Lies

Chapter 98: Chapter 90: Wenqing’s Lies

Every time a fusion occurred, the Space inside the Jade Pendant would change.

Tang Mo used her spiritual power to examine her Space. Before, entering the Space meant appearing directly inside the supermarket, but now it was completely different.

The first thing Tang Mo saw was a vast expanse of land, roughly the size of two or three football fields.

When it came to the size of the Space, Wenqing actually hadn’t lied. Her Space really was quite large.

However, the land was all packed, yellow earth. It didn’t look like it could grow any crops.

Tang Mo continued to explore and eventually discovered a small, fenced-off area of a few dozen square meters on the far right side of the farm.

Inside the small, fenced-off area, the ground was dry and cracked, dotted with the withered stalks of dead plants.

’So the Space was indeed as large as Wenqing had described. It’s just that the only farmable area was this small plot of a few dozen square meters of black soil.’

Tang Mo quickly figured out what had happened.

’Just what was going on in Wenqing’s head? She’d rather let the land in her Space be depleted just for the sake of her own vanity.’

To the right of the farm stood two small buildings, each with a sign hanging on its door.

One sign read ’Supermarket.’ When Tang Mo opened the door, she found it looked just like her original supermarket Space. The shelves were restocked, and the sight of it being filled to the brim was a joy to behold.

The other sign read ’Warehouse.’ Tang Mo opened the door and discovered that the free space near the original checkout counter had expanded and was now its own separate room.

This was a good thing. It was about twenty-odd square meters, which would be much more convenient.

Tang Mo confirmed that time was frozen inside the warehouse, so it could be used to preserve food and other precious items.

From now on, she could just store larger, less valuable items on the empty patch of yellow earth on the farm.

Tang Mo was very satisfied with her new Space.

The scorpion’s venom was fatal if not neutralized within half an hour. Tang Mo kept careful track of the time and left after exactly thirty minutes had passed.

She had Jingjing with her and more important things to do. She hadn’t forgotten the purpose of this trip.

Meanwhile, An Yang noticed that Wenqing still hadn’t caught up, and a flicker of worry sparked within him.

However, he wasn’t worried about Wenqing herself. He was worried that if their team lost her Space, finding another Space Ability User would be incredibly difficult.

With no other choice, An Yang had to lead his team members back to find Wenqing.

"Captain, that woman is so damn annoying. When is she ever going to stop causing trouble?"

Everyone on the team loathed Wenqing. She had a serious case of ’princess syndrome’ and always acted high and mighty, looking down on everyone.

’If she’s so great, why did she join our team anyway?’

She wanted to join the Alliance’s top-ranked Mist Team, but they wouldn’t have her.

Even though they all knew about Wenqing and An Yang’s relationship, they still complained openly, likely because they were well aware of An Yang’s own feelings on the matter.

An Yang’s expression darkened as he listened to his team’s grumbling, but he didn’t object. It was obvious he agreed with them.

By the time the group found Wenqing, 45 minutes had passed since the scorpion’s venom had taken effect.

Wenqing’s face was a purplish-black and had swollen up like a pig’s head.

If not for the distinctive white dress she insisted on wearing every day, they wouldn’t have even recognized her.

They had come here specifically for venomous scorpions, so they could tell at a glance that Wenqing had been poisoned by one.

"Captain, she’s still breathing!"

One of the team members rolled Wenqing over and checked for breath.

An Yang took out an Antidote Pill and fed it to Wenqing.

The pill couldn’t completely cure her. In her current state, the only way to fully treat the poison was to return to S Base and get treatment at the Alliance Central Hospital.

That would cost a huge amount of Crystal Cores. An Yang’s expression grew even darker.

’This woman is nothing but trouble.’

’If he could find another suitable Space Ability User, he would have just left her here to die.’

After taking the Antidote Pill, Wenqing quickly regained consciousness. She coughed, and when her eyes fluttered open, they were filled with unrestrained malice.

"It was Tang Mo! Help me kill her! I’m going to kill her!"

If she hadn’t been a Spiritual Ability User, if her Spirit Attribute Value hadn’t just broken past 100 a few days ago, allowing her to use her spiritual power for healing and to temporarily slow the venom’s spread through her bloodstream... she really would have died this time!

Tang Mo knew that Wenqing wasn’t a Space Ability User, but she had no idea that Wenqing was actually a Spiritual Ability User.

After all, Tang Mo’s Spirit Attribute Value was already over 500, while Wenqing’s had just barely passed 100. The gap was so immense that Tang Mo hadn’t paid her any mind.

The raw malice practically boiling in Wenqing’s eyes startled An Yang and his men. Combined with her swollen, purplish-black face, the sight was utterly terrifying.

’Tang Mo?’

An Yang mulled over Wenqing’s words. Regardless of whether she was telling the truth, Tang Mo was not someone he could afford to provoke.

And he certainly wasn’t going to provoke someone like that for Wenqing’s sake.

"We’ll deal with that later. For now, put the things we hunted into your Space. We need to get back to the hospital at the base."

An Yang motioned for his team to bring out the venomous scorpions they had just killed.

Wenqing bit her lip. She knew this meant An Yang was refusing to stand up for her.

’But he’s right. The priority right now is to get myself healed. I’ll settle this score with Tang Mo myself!’

Wenqing tried to use her spiritual power to move the mutant beasts’ carcasses into her Space, but her spiritual power couldn’t find the Space’s location at all.

’My bracelet?’

Wenqing’s heart sank. She reached for her left wrist—it was bare.

For a moment, Wenqing almost screamed, but with An Yang and the others watching, she had no choice but to choke it down.

’How could Tang Mo have known my bracelet was a Space Treasure?’

’No, even if she did know... I’ve tried before. Ever since I put it on, it’s been impossible to take off.’

’Tang Mo wouldn’t be stupid enough to smash and destroy an abnormal treasure, so what in the world happened?’

’That Tang Mo woman... who is she?’

In that instant, a million questions flooded Wenqing’s mind.

If Tang Mo were standing in front of her right now, she would have torn her apart with her bare hands.

’If I tell them now that I actually have a Space Treasure, but it was stolen...’

’An Yang would definitely leave me here to die.’

For once, the usually muddle-headed Wenqing was crystal clear about one thing.

"I’m poisoned. It seems my Space is temporarily unavailable. It won’t work until the poison is gone."

’Whatever, I just need to get out of here first.’

Wenqing adopted a pitiful tone, completely unaware of how horrifying she sounded given her current appearance.

An Yang’s face grew even darker, but he ultimately said nothing. He had someone carry her, and the group returned to the base, their mission only half-complete.
