Chapter 1711: Cloud Boss and Little Cousin Extra (16)_4

"Don’t you think he’s going too far?"

"No matter how over the top he is, sooner or later he’ll have to obediently call you ’brother’."

Thinking about it that way, Jiang Jinsang felt a bit better. Anyway, if they ended up as one family, there’d be plenty of chances to mess with him in the future; it didn’t have to happen right this moment.

He had no idea that after Fan Mingjue and Yun Hezhi left Guantang Villa, the two of them strolled and chatted all the way, and Fan Mingjue told him quite a lot.

It all boiled down to one line:

"Jiang Xiaowu has been good at tormenting people since he was a kid. If you run into him, hide if you can. If you can’t, just come to me."

Yun Hezhi laughed and nodded. So that’s how it was...

Jiang, Fifth Master, is that scared of him.

The shadows left from your school days aren’t that easy to shake off, are they?

**

Fan Zhengyu had originally been worried that Yun Hezhi might get bullied. When she found out it was a false alarm, she was incredibly relieved. Still, that night she also received a greeting message from her cousin:

[Wishing you a successful performance. When you’re back, dinner’s on me.]

Fan Zhengyu sighed, and that night she drifted in and out of sleeplessness.

Didn’t sleep well, got up feeling drained, skipped breakfast, and went downstairs in a daze, carrying her violin case.

By then, most of the orchestra had already boarded the tour bus parked at the hotel entrance. Only the accompanying teacher was still talking with the hotel about something—basically, after the performance they hoped the hotel would arrange a private room for a small celebration party.

"Didn’t sleep well last night?" The teacher gave Fan Zhengyu a once-over. "Nothing wrong, right?"

"I’m fine."

Fan Zhengyu smiled, stepped out through the hotel doors, and was just about to get on the bus when she spotted a familiar figure.

The sun was blazing, spilling down in sheets of gold and wrapping him in a golden halo. He was holding a huge bouquet of sunflowers in his arms, that same clean, refined face, open and relaxed.

"Who’s that?"

"No idea, he’s been standing there for a long time."

"Why does he look kind of familiar?"

...

Fan Zhengyu had spent a lot of time hopping between different orchestras for performances and had never settled in a fixed one. This time she was collaborating with a brand‑new orchestra. They might have seen Yun Hezhi in full stage makeup, but that didn’t mean they’d recognize him in real life.

Fan Zhengyu was still a bit woozy at first, but once she was sure she wasn’t just seeing things, she set down her case and ran toward him.

She threw herself into his arms and hugged him tight.

Yun Hezhi was still cradling the flowers with one arm; the other wrapped firmly around her. He let out a low laugh. "Missed me?"

Clearly, her reaction had pleased him.

"Yeah, I did. Missed you so much." Fan Zhengyu nestled against his chest. After a long moment, realizing Yun Hezhi didn’t seem to be doing anything, she tilted her head up to look at him. "You don’t miss me?"

"I do."

"Then why are you..." totally not reacting.

"Are you hoping I’ll kiss you in front of all these people?"

Yun Hezhi gestured with his eyes toward the bus behind her.

Fan Zhengyu turned her head and saw that the bus windows were crowded with faces pressed to the glass. Some people were even hanging onto the door, sneaking peeks.

Her face flared red...

"That’s not what I meant, I just..." Fan Zhengyu turned back, wanting to explain that she didn’t mean she wanted a kiss in broad daylight, in front of everyone.

But the very next second—

Something warm landed on her forehead.

Soft and gentle, hot and searing.

She didn’t even get the chance to savor it properly, because the people behind them had already burst into a chorus of teasing shouts.

"You didn’t mean that..." Yun Hezhi lowered his head to look at her, laughter in his eyes. "But..."

"I do."

Do...

Want to kiss you.

As soon as he finished speaking, he dipped his head again and lightly brushed against her lips. Yun Hezhi wasn’t into putting on a show for others; it was just a soft peck.

Just a light touch...

Yet it had Fan Zhengyu blushing to the roots and her heart racing.

She felt like the sun today was impossibly hot—how else could her whole body feel like it was on fire?

Her heart was pounding so fast it was about to jump up into her throat. All the hooting around them seemed like it had been muted; she could only see him, feel his presence, while her own heartbeat kept swelling, "thump, thump, thump—" each beat louder than the last.

Where he’d touched her burned even hotter.

"They’re all waiting for you. Hope everything goes smoothly tonight." Yun Hezhi handed her the armful of sunflowers.

"Thank you."

Fan Zhengyu had no idea how she even made it onto the bus. She even forgot her violin outside, and only when someone reminded her did she grab the flowers with one hand, the case with the other, and rush aboard.

Her mind was foggy, her breathing quick, her heartbeat loud enough to drown out everything.

The accompanying teacher recognized Yun Hezhi and even invited him to ride with them to the theater. The orchestra members, of course, were in full gossip‑mode, chiming in and telling him to come along. He politely turned them down.

"Boss Yun, you really aren’t coming with us?" the teacher asked one last time.

"Yeah, Boss Yun, come with us!" People nearby were still teasing.

Yun Hezhi just said, "She needs to stay focused before a performance. I’m worried if I go along, I’ll affect how she plays."

Everyone: "..."

We’re pretty sure you’re just flaunting your relationship!

Yun Hezhi stood there watching the bus pull away, while Fan Zhengyu sat inside hugging the bouquet of sunflowers. She was curious why Yun Hezhi had picked sunflowers for her—logically, shouldn’t it be roses or something? But him chasing her all the way to another city, this little surprise was far more exciting than any bouquet.

Her smile was brighter than the sunshine. Only then did she notice a sticky note tucked into the flowers:

A single line of Yun Hezhi’s handwriting:

[You are where my heart turns toward.]
