Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 375 - 385: Reunion and Discovery

Chapter 375: Chapter 385: Reunion and Discovery

A wave of sadness washed over them. They had finally made it back to their old home and seen their former companions.

But to their surprise, their companions were looking at them with guarded expressions.

However, the returned group wasn’t stupid. The joy and excitement on the two young men’s faces when they had first seen them hadn’t been faked.

’So it probably wasn’t that the others didn’t welcome them back. Then what could it be?’

It only took a moment for them to understand.

They had disappeared for so long, held captive all this time, while many of their other companions had already died.

But now, here they were, back safe and sound. It was only natural that this would arouse suspicion.

’Those two young men probably think we’ve turned traitor, that we’re helping that faction come after them. They must think we’re using our old friendship as a ploy to capture them.’

At this thought, the last trace of sadness in their hearts vanished, replaced by a sense of pride and gratification for the two young men.

’It’s good that they’re this vigilant. It looks like everyone has grown a lot in our absence.’

’This is for the best. In the apocalypse, this is a good thing. At least they won’t be captured as easily as we were.’

One of the men, who was in his thirties, looked at the two youths before him and smiled. "We’re happy to see you’re so vigilant!"

The others had still been a little hurt, but after hearing what the man said, they slowly began to understand.

After their initial surprise, the rest of the group broke into happy laughter as well.

Tiger, the young man who had been shouting Spike’s name earlier, let out a hearty laugh. "Spike, you didn’t really think we’d betray everyone and come back to hurt you, did you?"

"Hahaha, I told you, I’m going to be your brother for life! I, Tiger, would never do anything to hurt my brother. I’d die before I’d do that!"

A pang of shame cut through the fear and worry that Spike and the other young man felt upon hearing this.

"Sorry, everyone!"

It was the man in his thirties who spoke up again. "No need to apologize. Like we said, we’re glad you’re thinking this way."

The returned group also stopped, no longer advancing toward them.

The man said, "We’ll explain everything slowly. You don’t need to be afraid!"

"Trust us. We would never hurt our own."

Spike and the other young man exchanged a look.

The twenty-some people in front of them were all familiar faces. They were their companions from the old days, people with whom they had overcome many hardships.

Many, many of those people were older than them.

Over the years, these people had helped them out countless times.

At this thought, the two of them mustered their courage and, as if they had figured everything out, started walking toward the group.

But at that moment, the expression of the man in his thirties hardened. "I just finished praising you. Why are you letting your guard down so easily?"

"Even if we are familiar faces, you shouldn’t just blindly trust us after a few simple words. No matter what, you must always stay vigilant."

Hearing these words of guidance, Spike and the other young man’s eyes turned red.

They couldn’t hold back any longer and ran straight toward them. "Welcome back! It’s so good you’re alive, so good!"

The sky had only just begun to lighten. The others in the city hadn’t been back for long either, and many had heard the commotion.

Thinking something was wrong, they had hurried over.

And then they saw the ones who had returned alive.

Their initial reaction was much like that of Spike and the other youth: first surprise and disbelief, then suspicion.

In the end, it was the same old man who had spoken with Stella Sterling before who stepped forward. He looked at the twenty-some people who had returned.

He said calmly, "Talk. What happened?"

And so, taking turns, they began recounting the events of the previous night. They explained how they were rescued by a kind person. This person not only helped them get revenge and saved their lives, but also gave them all the food from the enemy faction, which they had now brought back.

At this point, the man in his thirties added with an excited expression, "The twenty-some of us got a pretty good share of supplies. It’ll be enough to last our whole group for a while!"

Normally, hearing this news would have made Spike and the others very happy.

But right now, their focus was elsewhere.

When they heard that the person who saved them was a young woman with a child, for some reason the first person the old man thought of was the woman who had helped them before.

So he had them describe the two’s appearances.

In the end, it was confirmed: it was the same pretty young woman who had given them food before.

"It’s her! The woman from before!"

"It’s that young lady! When she left, she specifically asked us where that faction was located. I thought she was asking so she could avoid them."

"I never would have thought—"

None of them had ever imagined that the young lady had actually gone to rescue their people.

There were only two of them. How on earth did they manage it?

But that wasn’t even the most incredible part. The truly amazing thing was how much the young lady had done for them. She had given them food and weapons, and now she had eliminated the great threat that had been looming over them.

Everyone was so happy they didn’t know what to say.

They were happy that these people had returned today.

But the news they brought back made them even happier.

Everyone from that faction had been killed. No one would be coming to snatch their people anymore.

Seeing their expressions, the twenty-some people who had returned asked with some confusion, "From the looks of it, you all seem to know that little fairy, too?"

"Little fairy? Yes, isn’t she just like a little fairy?"

Spike clapped his hands, exclaiming excitedly, "That’s right! She really is like a fairy! Her showing up saved us."

At this point, the old man explained to the twenty-some returnees what had happened on their end.

After hearing this, the twenty-some people were overcome with emotion.

They never would have thought that in this apocalypse, they could actually meet such a good person.

They would probably never encounter anything like this again.

Everyone exchanged glances. While their hearts filled with gratitude for Stella Sterling, they also secretly made a resolution: from now on, they had to get stronger themselves. After all, someone like her wouldn’t just appear again to save them from dire straits.
