Chapter 416: Chapter 426: Leave Me 2 Pig Legs
So, with a mix of doubt, anticipation, and excitement, Felix Lawrence brought a few of his men, tools in hand, and followed Andrew Shaw.
When they saw Stella Sterling’s car parked here from a distance, Felix Lawrence became even more convinced.
’A wild boar... a wild boar... If they really got their hands on one, then they...’
Just the thought of it made his body tremble.
He looked at Stella Sterling, unable to hide his impatience.
"Is it true?"
Stella Sterling nodded.
Hearing this, Felix Lawrence and his men all let out a cheer, overcome with joy.
After receiving confirmation, Felix Lawrence finally felt his heart settle. He was both happy and excited.
But he calmed himself, his voice still betraying his excitement and curiosity. "Miss Sterling, how did you find this boar? We’ve searched all the barren mountains around here with our men. Forget wild boars, it’s hard to even find a bug out there!"
Stella Sterling just shook her head. "I’m not sure. I was just passing by over there and saw a strange figure. At first, I thought someone was following me, so I went to check it out. Who knew it would turn out to be a wild boar? It probably survived by hiding out somewhere. Lucky for it, but unlucky to have run into me. So, I killed it and brought it back!"
Stella Sterling said all this without batting an eye, her expression perfectly calm and normal.
Seeing her so composed, Felix Lawrence and the others didn’t doubt her words in the slightest.
Felix Lawrence exclaimed, "Miss Sterling, you’re so lucky!"
Only Andrew Shaw, standing off to the side, shot Stella Sterling a suspicious glance.
’I can’t believe it. To think a woman like her could lie without even batting an eye.’
’With that expression... If I hadn’t been with her the whole time and known for a fact that none of what she said was true...’
’...I would have been completely fooled and believed her story.’
However, her story was quite similar to the one he had told Felix Lawrence and his men.
’They hadn’t even coordinated their stories, yet they were surprisingly in sync!’
A hint of a smile flashed in Andrew Shaw’s eyes, but then he caught the warning glance Stella Sterling shot his way.
He realized he had been staring inappropriately and quickly gave Stella Sterling an awkward chuckle before looking away.
Stella Sterling turned to Felix Lawrence and his men. "This boar is pretty big, so I’ll need everyone’s help. Of course, we’ll all split it afterward."
"Yes, yes, of course! Thank you, Miss Sterling!"
"You can hardly call this a favor!"
Felix Lawrence’s men laughed. When Miss Sterling sent for them, they had already guessed she didn’t intend to keep it all for herself and planned to share.
But to hear Miss Sterling say it herself still made them thrilled and deeply grateful.
After all, even if Miss Sterling hadn’t decided to share, they wouldn’t have said anything.
After all, Miss Sterling had already paid for her food when she arrived. Furthermore, she had hunted this boar all by herself; it had nothing to do with them.
It was, by all rights, completely hers. Even if she chose not to share it, she wouldn’t have been in the wrong.
Yet, she offered to share it so freely, without even asking for anything in return.
At that moment, beyond their excitement, they were filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude toward Stella Sterling.
Felix Lawrence, especially, was at a loss for words.
’This wild boar from Miss Sterling... it was a truly magnificent gift.’
He didn’t say ’thank you’ again. Some words lose their meaning when overused.
But Felix Lawrence would never forget the kindness she had shown him and his men.
Once the excitement settled, everyone grabbed their tools and prepared to haul the wild boar back.
’A whole wild boar! So much meat! Even if they ate their fill tonight, there would still be plenty left over.’
"Holy crap, this thing is huge! What was this boar eating?"
Opening the car door and seeing the wild boar that took up most of the space inside, Felix Lawrence couldn’t help but cry out.
The boar before him was enormous, nothing like the scrawny animal he’d imagined. He guessed it weighed around 450 pounds.
He had been excited before, but he’d figured the boar would weigh a little over a hundred pounds at most.
After all, in this apocalypse, it wasn’t just people who were starving—animals were too. He figured that while this boar was alive, it must have been emaciated from hunger.
But he never expected the boar before him to be so plump. A single glance was enough to tell it was heavy.
Forget about the apocalypse—even before it all ended, a wild boar this big was a rare sight.
Felix Lawrence’s eyes were filled with wonder.
Stella Sterling commented casually from the side, "Yeah, it’s pretty big. Even after we feast tonight, there’ll be plenty left over. If we process it properly, it’ll keep for a long time. It should be enough to feed us for a good while."
Felix Lawrence’s attention was immediately diverted. "Yeah, bigger is better—more meat. This is more than 300 pounds heavier than I expected! With all this meat..."
At this thought, he shouted excitedly, "Alright, men, let’s get to it! When we get back, tell the kitchen to get the pots boiling. We’re feasting on meat tonight!"
"We’ll preserve what’s left, and from time to time, we can bring some out so everyone can have a taste of meat!"
The others immediately broke into laughter. "Haha, we’re eating pork!"
"The taste of meat... I can’t even remember the last time I had some. It’s gonna be amazing!"
"Suddenly, I feel like there’s finally something to fucking look forward to."
Chattering excitedly, the men tied ropes around the boar and hoisted it onto a pole, preparing to carry it back.
The animal weighed several hundred pounds and was a struggle for even a group of men to lift, but none of them complained. Their faces were alight with excitement and joy.
Felix Lawrence said from the side, "Miss Sterling, what cuts of meat would you like? I’ll have it processed as soon as we get back and send your share over. I’ll keep the rest."
"I’ll just eat with everyone tonight. You can keep all the rest. Oh, right—just save two of the legs for me!"
Stella Sterling laughed. ’I just want a taste. There’s no need for me to keep much of the meat. If I want pork, I have plenty in my personal space.’
’Besides, this wasn’t the only boar she could conjure from her space. If she wanted to eat, would she ever have to worry about a shortage?’
Felix Lawrence froze for a moment, his eyes instantly turning red. Then he gave a heavy nod. "Yeah. Okay."
He didn’t say anything else sentimental.
