While they walked the critical part of the path, everyone was blindfolded, with someone guiding them from the front.

They were only allowed to remove the blindfolds after they had arrived at their destination.

Zane Xavier was nervous the entire way.

’He was terrified of being recognized. If he was, news that he was still alive would reach the inner circles of Sanctyr Base.’

’I’m alive, but I didn’t return to the base. Instead, I’ve come back in disguise.’

’It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out I must have betrayed Sanctyr Base. And if that happened, I’d be a dead man.’

’I might even drag the members of the Three Tigers Corps down with me, which is the last thing I want.’

He had only come back today to check on the situation inside Sanctyr Base and, while he was at it, to find out what the official story was regarding his disappearance.

Along the way, Zane Xavier even ran into several people he had known before.

But they all walked right past him without a second glance, none of them recognizing him.

This allowed Zane Xavier to finally let out a huge sigh of relief. He relaxed considerably, no longer as tense as he had been just moments before.

"Brother Xavier, just stick close to me in a little while. It’s nothing to worry about. We’re just here today to listen to a debriefing, hand over the grain, and then we can leave. Of course, if I get the chance, maybe I can introduce you to the head of Sanctyr Base. Who knows, maybe you could become a faction leader in Veridia yourself!"

Hunter Night’s cheerful words rang in Zane Xavier’s ear.
