Apocalypse Rebirth: Crazy from Day One

Chapter 590: Absolute Belief

But even as he said that, he couldn’t help but think of Stella Sterling’s bizarre abilities.

‘This woman is no ordinary person. There’s just too much about her that’s unnervingly strange.’

‘He considered himself quite formidable, with excellent combat skills, but when faced with these women, it felt like he still came up far short.’

‘He wasn’t at all certain if he, Caleb Xavier, and those Human Body Warriors would even be enough to handle her.’

Just then, Caleb Xavier took two steps forward. He looked at Stella Sterling and said, “Stella Sterling. You’ve come back, too, haven’t you?”

Though it was phrased as a question, his tone was one of certainty.

Miles Sanctus, standing off to the side, didn’t understand what Caleb meant. ‘What does he mean, Stella Sterling has “come back, too”? I’m finding it harder and harder to follow what these two are saying.’

Stella Sterling stared at Caleb Xavier. “That’s right, I’m back too,” she said. “I was hoping to find an old friend like you and catch up. But it looks like a reunion is off the table!”

Caleb Xavier smiled at her words, but internally, he scoffed. ‘Catch up with an old friend? More like she’s here for revenge.’

‘Stella Sterling was reborn, too. She must remember everything that happened in our past life. She knows I’m the one who killed her, that I betrayed her.’

‘The two of them could only be enemies. Never friends.’

‘Her coming to find me now… she must be here to settle the score from our past life.’

‘All that time before, when she pretended not to know me, even saving my life… she was probably just toying with me, playing games.’

‘We were both reborn. And now that we’ve met again, it’s not just me who’s plotting against her. Stella Sterling is plotting against me, too.’

The thought made him sneer again. ‘Isn’t she a little too confident in herself?’

He admitted she had her strengths, but for her to be so confident that she could deal with him… To think she could lay a trap for him… it was laughable!

Standing nearby, Arthur Shaw had heard enough to basically understand the situation.

‘Looks like the two of them really were friends in a past life, but that’s all it was—in the past. Now, they’ve become bitter enemies.’

‘They must have some kind of shared history, some deep-seated grudge. Could it be that in their past life, Stella Sterling was taken down by this Caleb Xavier? Is that why I never heard of her in the future?’

‘Stella Sterling died at Caleb Xavier’s hands… and then she was reborn.’

‘No wonder I always felt there was something strange about the two of them, though I could never quite put my finger on what it was.’

‘Now it makes sense. They were both acting, trying to deceive each other the whole time.’

He couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching.

‘This woman is really something else. Every person she pisses off is more powerful than the last.’

‘I was already stunned when she went up against Miles Sanctus, but I never expected she’d have this kind of history with Caleb Xavier, too.’

‘Now two of the future’s biggest figures are her enemies, and they’ve even ganged up on her. I’m speechless. No wonder Stella Sterling said today’s business was “a little dangerous.” This is what she calls “a little dangerous”?’

‘If someone in my past life had told me I’d have to face off against both Miles Sanctus and Caleb Xavier at the same time, I would have turned and walked away without a second thought. I wouldn’t have even hesitated.’

‘I would’ve even cursed Stella Sterling out for being an idiot, dragging me into her suicide mission.’

This time, however, aside from some initial surprise, he wasn’t feeling particularly emotional.

‘After all, Stella Sterling herself is just unbelievable. Anything is possible when she’s involved.’

‘Besides, I’ve already seen how capable she is. You can’t measure her by normal standards.’

‘So what if it’s Caleb Xavier? So what if it’s Miles Sanctus? So what if they team up against her?’

‘For some reason, I’m completely confident in her right now. I feel like even in this situation, Stella Sterling can handle both of them. They’re no match for her.’

‘Yes, that’s how much confidence I have in Stella Sterling right now.’

That’s why Arthur Shaw was so calm. He even started looking around, trying to find the best spot to watch the show. He was getting ready to watch these two get absolutely wrecked by Stella Sterling.

‘Just thinking about it gave me a strange sense of satisfaction.’

‘Two future titans getting schooled by my boss, right in front of me. The thought made me feel incredibly proud.’

‘At that moment, a thought even crossed my mind. Since two of the future’s great leaders are Stella Sterling’s enemies, what about that guy, Gordon Ford? Does he have some connection to her too?’

‘If so, things would get really interesting. All the future leaders would be gathered in one place.’

But he shook his head at the thought.

‘I’d heard some things before. Gordon Ford’s relationship with Stella Sterling is different. He’s not like these two. He’s connected to her, but not as an enemy. It’s more likely they’re a couple.’

“What’s wrong? Speaking of which, I’m an old friend to both of you. Seeing an old friend, why do you both have such unhappy expressions? Shouldn’t you show me a welcome?”

“Cut the act, Stella Sterling! Don’t forget you destroyed my Sanctyr Base!”

Miles Sanctus watched her coldly. He had, at one point, been interested in this woman. She was powerful, intelligent, and beautiful—it was hard for a man not to be drawn to someone like that. He had even thought about making a move on her, subjugating her and then taking over her Caeluna Base.

But now, all those feelings were gone. All he felt for Stella Sterling was hatred. All he wanted was to kill her.

Caleb, for his part, had originally planned to ally with Miles Sanctus to rapidly build his own strength. His plan had been to wait until he was powerful enough, then seek out Stella Sterling to exact his revenge.

He never expected that before he could even go after her, Stella Sterling would come to him first.

She hadn’t just come for him, though. She had sought out Caleb Xavier as well.

Miles, for one, was quite curious. How exactly had a man like Caleb Xavier ended up as Stella Sterling’s enemy? What had happened between them?

Caleb Xavier, however, was calmer than Miles Sanctus. He smiled. “I really have missed you, Stella. We fought side-by-side for so long in our past life. After I killed you, I was lonely for quite a while. I even came to regret killing you so soon. I should have kept you around for a bit longer!”
