Virtual Idol in the Beast World: Five Clans Fight Over Me

Chapter 444 - 391: Not a Real Pervert

Chapter 444: Chapter 391: Not a Real Pervert

"No problem."

Philinos carefully read the document. He placed a hand on the back of Gu Ning’s chair, leaned over to put the document down, and pointed to the signature line. "Here, sign your name."

Gu Ning stared at the bail amount on the document for a moment, then signed her name with a pained expression before pushing the document toward the police officer.

The officer picked up the document and said, "Once the bail is paid, your partner here can be temporarily released from the station the morning after tomorrow."

Gu Ning: ...Huh?

’He can’t leave right away?’

She looked up at the Little Fairy Bird.

Philinos said, "His case is a bit serious. The only reason he can be bailed out this quickly is thanks to you."

If it were any other male without a female to post bail for them, they’d have no choice but to sit in a detention cell and pay the fine.

Gu Ning now regretted not being more firm when they passed the checkpoint and making Barto surrender his weapon.

The Central District obviously placed more emphasis on order and rules; they wouldn’t turn a blind eye like they do in Zone 19.

The 12th District had sufficient manpower and resources, as well as more standardized procedures for handling such incidents.

But this meant they couldn’t leave tomorrow. According to the document she just signed, they couldn’t leave the day after tomorrow either. Barto’s bail period was seven days, which meant they had to stay within the area for seven days while he was on bail.

Just then, the officer spoke again. "Is the one outside also your..."

Seeing that she didn’t react immediately, the Beastman translator, who had been warming the bench for a while, finally seized his chance to speak. In relatively fluent Sea Clan language, he said, "&*^v."

Gu Ning: "?"

She touched her translation earpiece, subconsciously thinking it was malfunctioning.

’Otherwise, how could I not understand a single thing?’

’No, that’s not it. The translator isn’t speaking the Beast Alliance’s common tongue.’

Philinos shot the over-clever translator a glance, then leaned down closer to Gu Ning and said, "The officer is asking about Alex."

Hearing him speak the common tongue to the young female, the translator pushed up his glasses and stared awkwardly at the gleaming tips of his polished shoes.

He had deduced from the young female’s accent that she was either from the Sea Clan or lived near the Sea Area.

When Gu Ning heard Philinos, a look of realization dawned on her face. She said to the officer, "He is. My mate."

The officer glanced at the translator and said, "He also violated the 12th District’s public security regulations."

Gu Ning: "He didn’t use a weapon."

Philinos whispered a reminder in her ear, "The public security regulations differ from zone to zone. The area we were in just now was near the checkpoint. You can’t just change into your beast form whenever you want. If it causes a commotion or a fight, it’s a violation of the regulations."

The officer smiled. "It seems your Bird Clan mate is quite familiar with our 12th District."

Gu Ning blurted out, "He’s not."

Philinos froze for a moment, then straightened up.

Taking in both of their reactions, the officer raised an eyebrow and pushed another document in front of Gu Ning. "According to our public security regulations, your Black Wolf mate requires seven to ten days of detention. Including the public facilities he damaged, the total fine comes to two hundred thousand Universal Beast Coins."

Gu Ning: "..." ’How is his fine even higher than Barto’s?’

The officer said, "Do you need to post bail for this one? His bail is thirty thousand."

Before Gu Ning could speak, Lanuo’s voice came from behind them. "Don’t bail him out. Let him rot in there for a few days."

His voice was clearly tinged with resentment.

Lanuo clutched his nose, which had started bleeding again, his words to Gu Ning clearly driven by a personal grudge.

After all, when he was getting jumped by the Mixed Breeds earlier, Alex hadn’t even given him a second glance, letting him get beaten to a pulp.

He hadn’t taken a beating like this even in Zone 5.

Gu Ning looked at the fine on the document and sighed. "I’ll bail him out."

’They’re all my family, after all.’

After having Philinos look over the document to make sure there were no issues, Gu Ning signed her name.

The officer took the document and continued, "That one..."

Gu Ning: "?" ’There’s more?’

The officer jutted his chin toward someone behind her. "He’s probably not your mate, is he?"

Gu Ning turned to look. Besides Barto, only Lanuo was next to him.

Lanuo was very displeased with the officer’s questioning tone yet certain gaze. "What..."

"He is not," Gu Ning said, turning back around.

Lanuo: "..." ’He was furious. This pair of mates was really making him angry!’

"This is his penalty document," the officer said, handing Gu Ning a third file.

Gu Ning gave the document a cursory glance and asked, puzzled, "What did he do wrong?"

Lanuo was the only one in their group who was injured, and quite badly at that. His face was black and blue, as if he’d been beaten up one-sidedly. Besides... he didn’t look like much of a fighter.

The officer placed the items confiscated from Lanuo on the table. "He was carrying prohibited items and evaded the checkpoint inspection."

Gu Ning looked at the small glass vials and asked, "What are these?"

’They look quite delicate, like perfume bottles.’

Officer: "It’s a potion that induces estrus in males."

Gu Ning, who had been about to sniff it, silently put the vial down.

’Why would he carry something like this around?!’

The male Beastmen around her always had to have Inhibitors on hand to suppress their estrus states, yet Lanuo actually wanted to induce his? ’What is he trying to do?’

Lanuo explained, "Those are for my research on Inhibitors."

Gu Ning secretly breathed a sigh of relief. ’Thank goodness, he’s not actually a pervert.’

Considering his profession, she could somewhat understand.

’But... did he really have to carry them on his person? They had come to the 12th District’s Inner District this time to procure supplies and had planned to make it a same-day trip. For such a short time, Lanuo still had to keep these things on him...’

"He doesn’t need to be detained," the officer said. "But the items will be confiscated, and he is fined thirty thousand."

Gu Ning nodded. ’Good, good, it’s just a fine.’

She pushed the document back to the officer. Since there was no detention, she didn’t need to help post bail.

Seeing she had no intention of signing, the officer picked up the document and asked, "Who among you is paying the fine?"

Gu Ning leaned her body to the side, her gesture obvious.

She had to pay a lot in fines today; she should save where she could. Thirty thousand was no small sum. She believed that Doctor Lano, coming from Zone 5, probably wasn’t short on cash.

Her action made both the officer and the translator chuckle.

Philinos’s lips twitched in a barely perceptible smile. Barto, also in a good mood, looked at the dog next to him who was about to bristle. "You made the mess, you pay the price."

Lanuo grew even angrier.

After paying the fines, Gu Ning walked out of the police station holding the receipts, not feeling happy at all.

Beside her, Lanuo, also holding a fine receipt, had an even longer face.

Alex, who had been waiting at the entrance, walked up and gently nudged Gu Ning’s cheek with his nose, then looked questioningly at Lanuo.

Lanuo waved the fine receipt in his hand at him. "You’re reimbursing me when we get back. And for my medical bills and emotional distress fees."

Alex let out a low whine in response.

Lanuo: "? No money? You have the nerve to hire me when you have no money?"

Alex whimpered a couple more times.

Lanuo sneered. "If you don’t pay me, I’ll go ask Watson for it."

Normally, he would never haggle with Alex over such things, but today he had suffered a major blow both physically and mentally. He needed some compensation.

Alex paid him no more mind and looked at Gu Ning.

"The officer said you and Barto have to leave the day after tomorrow," Gu Ning said with a sigh, hugging the Wolf King’s snout.

Alex nodded lightly, his eyes full of apology.

"It’s fine," Gu Ning said with a smile. "You can, keep an eye on Barto."

"It’s getting late," Philinos cut in. "I’ll take you to the hotel to rest first."
