Chapter 606 - 569: The Might of a Demigod Artifact

Chapter 606: Chapter 569: The Might of a Demigod Artifact

After his thousand-year birthday banquet concluded, the Jade Prince privately invited Li Wei to meet him in the rear garden.

Li Wei was both surprised and pleased.

He had been looking for an opportunity to meet the Jade Prince alone.

When he arrived at the rear garden, Li Wei saw two Legendary Warriors standing guard at the entrance.

It was incredible.

To think someone could have Legendary Warriors stand guard for them.

However, this person was the Jade Prince, who had stood at the apex of the Empire’s power for a thousand years.

In that light, it didn’t seem so strange.

He certainly had the status and wealth for it.

As Li Wei entered the rear garden, the two Legendary Warriors at the entrance didn’t even turn their heads.

They let him pass without so much as a glance.

It was as if they didn’t believe he could possibly pose a threat to the Jade Prince.

As Li Wei stepped into the rear garden, he found himself flanked by a dazzling array of flowers, every single one in perfect, full bloom.

He glanced around. A faint, blended floral fragrance filled the air.

The resulting aroma was unique, but not unpleasant. In fact, the blend of fragrances created a strangely beautiful effect.

Li Wei noticed that many of the flowers had different blooming seasons.

Some of their blooming seasons were months apart, yet here they all were, blooming together in defiance of nature.

He could sense a rich aura of life emanating from the ground beneath the garden.

’The Power of Natural Magic.’

’A garden cultivated with Natural Magic. How extravagant!’

As Li Wei marveled at the sight, he found he had unknowingly reached the end of the flowerbeds.

Before him was a small pavilion draped in morning glories and wisteria. The Jade Prince stood at its edge, gazing out at the sky, seemingly lost in thought.

He turned at the sound of approaching footsteps, his face breaking into a kind smile as he looked at Li Wei.

Up close, Li Wei saw that the Jade Prince had the face of an approachable middle-aged man, though it still carried an air of authority.

At a glance, he seemed a ruler who was both dignified and benevolent.

If Li Wei hadn’t known what the Jade Prince had done in his quest for eternal life, he too would have been fooled by this facade.

The Jade Prince was by no means a benevolent man.

Perhaps to the subjects of his Jade Territory, he was a kind and benevolent ruler.

In all other matters, however, he was undeniably ruthless.

Such a complex personality seemed to be a trait common to all rulers.

The very fact that the Jade Prince had maintained his unshakable position for a millennium spoke volumes about his methods.

Without such forceful methods, he would have been overthrown long ago.

A thousand years was enough time for a Kingdom to rise and fall several times over.

Yet the Jade Prince had remained at the apex of the Human Empire throughout it all. He could not possibly be as harmless as he appeared.

Li Wei met the Jade Prince’s gaze for a moment, then smiled and said, "I am Li Wei. It’s an honor to meet you, Your Highness."

The Jade Prince studied Li Wei. His many years of experience judging character told him that the young man before him was not one to be trifled with.

He recalled that Li Wei had taken care of the men he had sent out previously.

Despite this, the Jade Prince truly admired Li Wei’s Power.

As for whether Li Wei could threaten him, the Jade Prince had never even considered the possibility.

Even if Li Wei could single-handedly slay a High Tier Legendary Level Dragon Hunter, he still wouldn’t believe Li Wei had the ability to threaten him.

At best, Li Wei was just a particularly impressive youth.

Over the past thousand years, he had faced countless perilous situations; this encounter was nothing by comparison.

Even if Li Wei held a grudge for the assassination attempt and wanted revenge, the Jade Prince felt no fear.

The Jade Prince looked at Li Wei kindly and praised, "A true hero emerging from the youth. In all my thousand years, you are the youngest Legendary Level Mage I have ever seen."

"What do you say? Are you interested in working for me?"

"If you agree, you’ll never have to worry about Cultivation resources again."

"I could even give you a Demigod Artifact, if you wish."

The Jade Prince smiled at Li Wei, laying out an incredibly tempting offer.

Anyone else would have found the Jade Prince’s offer difficult to refuse.

Pledging allegiance to the Jade Prince meant gaining the most powerful backer in the Empire.

Not to mention the Prince’s promise to cover all future Cultivation resources, plus the gift of a Demigod Artifact.

Li Wei inwardly marveled at the Jade Prince’s grand gesture—offering a Demigod Artifact so casually.

He calmly replied, "Your Highness’s offer is quite generous. What are the conditions?"

The Jade Prince replied nonchalantly, "I hear you have a Giant Dragon with you, a creature thought to be extinct. If you can bring that Giant Dragon here for me to see, just to satisfy my curiosity, everything I’ve offered is yours."

Li Wei sneered inwardly.

’Satisfy his curiosity? What a laughable excuse.’

An idea suddenly struck Li Wei. "That Giant Dragon isn’t here," he said. "But if Your Highness wishes to see her, I might be able to help with that."

A smile spread across the Jade Prince’s face. "Oh? And how would you do that?"

Li Wei began Casting, opening a Space Teleportation Gate.

He looked at the Jade Prince. "The Giant Dragon is far away. If Your Highness doesn’t mind, you can come with me."

The Jade Prince stared at the Space Teleportation Gate, his expression turning thoughtful.

He couldn’t see what lay on the other side of the Space Teleportation Gate, and he had no way of knowing if it was a trap.

After a moment, he chuckled.

’Trap or not, who cares? Even if it is a trap, what could possibly be done to me?’
