The battle between Li Wei and Rose brought an end to the stalemate between the Underworld and the Beixuan Kingdom.

The two sides entered a prolonged cold war.

It would be too late for regrets then.

"This battle has been a devastating loss for the Beixuan Kingdom," Gu Ze said.

Li Wei shook his head and sighed. "There was nothing to be done. We were up against the Underworld, a nation ruled by a Divine Spirit."

He stopped just short of saying that the Beixuan Kingdom was completely out of its league.

Until now, the Underworld had never launched an all-out war, only engaging in minor skirmishes.

But this one time, the Underworld’s full-scale invasion had sent the Beixuan Kingdom into a steady retreat.

They had been utterly powerless to resist.

This wasn’t just because the enemy had a Divine Spirit backing them up, or because several Legendary Professionals were leading the invasion.

In fact, neither the Divine Spirit nor the Legendary Professionals had personally intervened in the war.

Their presence was purely a deterrent.

"Let Otz worry about what comes next," Li Wei said. "We’re heading back."

This gave the Beixuan Kingdom a brief respite.

’It’s enough to know he’s in Maple City. We’ll meet sooner or later.’

Reina asked, "What is the Beixuan Kingdom’s current situation?"

"Wait a moment. Your mentor, Orn, will be here shortly," Otz said. "Grand General Orn will give you a complete briefing on the Kingdom’s predicament."

Reina nodded and waited for Orn’s arrival.

Before long, Orn walked into the Royal Palace, clad in a suit of black Armor.

He saw Reina and gave a slight nod and a smile. "Reina, you’re back."

Reina smiled and said, "Mentor, the Ninth Prince sent me with troops to support you."

"Good," Orn nodded. "Let’s dispense with the pleasantries. I’ll brief you on the recent situation..."

Reina finally emerged from the Royal Palace.

She headed for the Mage Tower.

Inside the Mage Tower, two Legendary Level experts came face to face.

Since Reina, a Legendary War Knight, had come to the Mage Tower, it was only natural for Gu Sewei to receive her personally.

Upon learning that Reina had come specifically to find Li Wei,

Gu Sewei was somewhat surprised. "Miss Reina," she asked, "when did you come to know Li Wei?"

"About twenty years ago," Reina replied. "I knew him back when he was just a Mage Apprentice here at the Maple City Mage Tower."

Gu Sewei couldn’t help but steal another glance at Reina, her mind racing as she pondered the nature of Reina’s relationship with Li Wei.

’After twenty years apart, Reina’s first instinct upon returning to Maple City is to find Li Wei. That certainly gives me something to think about.’

Gu Sewei smiled faintly. "Is that so? I had no idea you’ve known Li Wei for so many years, Miss Reina. You must be an old friend of his, then? But... why have I never heard him mention you?"
