Adventure: My Skills Evolve Infinitely

Chapter 483 - 237: Lin Mo’s Psychological Shadow

Chapter 483: Chapter 237: Lin Mo’s Psychological Shadow

Night had fallen. In the dim glow of the campfires, the Adventurers were still gathered, chatting.

The members of the caravan had also gathered to eat and chat amongst themselves.

Meanwhile, beside a few carriages in the center of the caravan, Glen cautiously looked left and right. Only after confirming no one was around did he pass a package to the carriage before him.

A hand immediately reached out from within the carriage, taking the package.

"How is the situation?"

"There shouldn’t be any problems... Just as you ordered, I chose Adventurers who are close to, but haven’t yet reached, the Elite Level. But that young man who suddenly joined them..."

"It’s of no concern."

A calm voice drifted from inside the carriage. "His skills are indeed impressive, but from the looks of it, he hasn’t reached a level where he’d be difficult to handle."

"That’s good."

Glen breathed a sigh of relief. "I just hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow. As long as there are no accidents, everything can proceed according to plan."

"By my calculations, the other side should have succeeded by now... Once we reach the Royal Capital under the cover of night, immediately take the Young Master to the escort unit and get him into the Duke’s Mansion."

"Understood!"

"Alright, go bring the Young Master his meal."

Just as he finished speaking, the man suddenly frowned. "Wait!"

"What’s wrong?"

Glen asked, confused.

"Are you sure all those Adventurers are in their own camp?"

"Positive. I specifically assigned someone to watch them. If anyone leaves, they’ll give a signal immediately."

Inside the carriage, a lean, wiry man frowned. ’Was it just my imagination?’

"Go and confirm it yourself in a little while. We can’t afford any mistakes!"

"Yes!"

----------

’Interesting...’

Lin Mo, who had used his [Invisibility] Skill to enter a state of Stealth, swapped places with his Clone. At the same time, he canceled the Skill, returning to his side of the camp.

’So it wasn’t precious treasure in the central carriages of the caravan... it was people!’

’And it seemed like there was more than one.’

’Besides the man who was just speaking, there must also be a so-called "Young Master."’

It was still difficult to piece together the caravan’s true purpose from the information he had just overheard.

But their criteria for selecting Adventurers revealed a few things.

Whatever they were doing with this so-called "Young Master" was most likely something that couldn’t see the light of day.

That much was easy to guess. Why would they specifically hire Adventurers who were close to, but not quite at, the Elite Level for their escort?

The answer was simple: such Adventurers were strong enough to handle most unexpected situations, but not so strong that they’d be beyond the caravan leaders’ control.

Based on that, he could deduce that the mysterious man in the carriage was likely at an early Elite Level of strength.

If everything went smoothly and the caravan reached the Royal Capital, then everyone would be happy. The Adventurers would complete their mission, and the employers would achieve their goal.

But if an accident were to happen along the way—say, they encountered a powerful Demon—and the truth was exposed that the most important carriages held people, not precious cargo, then they would have to eliminate anyone who saw the truth to keep their secret from getting out.

’But what exactly did the mysterious man mean by the "other side" that had "already succeeded"?’

’And the Duke’s Mansion... which Duke were they talking about?’

’Was it the Morin Clan, who are connected to the Jade Commerce Association? Or one of the Kingdom’s other Dukes?’

Lin Mo shook his head helplessly. He still had too little information to understand the full picture. Besides, he didn’t really care that much about the truth behind it all.

After all, it had little to do with him. As long as everything went smoothly and they reached the Royal Capital, he couldn’t be bothered to get involved in the backstabbing and intrigue of the nobility.

Sure enough, a few moments later, Glen came over to their camp, greeting them with a broad smile.

Lin Mo replied politely, "Is there something we can help you with?"

"Oh no, not at all. I just wanted to let you all know that you should get a good rest tonight. We’ll handle the night watch. We’re entering the Blackwater Swamp first thing in the morning, and we’ll be counting on you to deal with the Demons in there."

"Of course, of course..."

Not far away, Luke thumped his chest. "Don’t you worry, just leave it to us."

Glen nodded. His eyes swept over the group one more time, and only after confirming everyone was accounted for did he bid them farewell and depart.

He went to find the man he’d assigned to keep watch.

"Master Glen!"

"Are you positive none of these Adventurers left?"

"None."

The man shook his head. "They’ve been here the whole time. The only one who moved was that young man, Lin Mo. He went to his carriage to grab something, but he didn’t go anywhere else. He was back in a flash—the whole thing took less than ten seconds..."

’Went to the carriage to grab something?’

Glen shook his head. ’That couldn’t possibly be a problem.’

’Looks like the master was just being overly cautious.’

The night deepened. Since they had an early start the next morning, everyone except the guards on watch quickly fell asleep.

The camp grew quiet. However, Lin Mo’s group hadn’t all gone to sleep as Glen suggested. They had arranged their own watch, not for the unlikely threat of Demons, but for the members of the caravan.

This way, however, no one needed to stay outside; it was enough for one person to remain awake inside their carriage.

Shefilya took the first watch.

Her gaze swept over the carpet, which had been covered with a bedsheet. Three people were now sleeping there, side by side.

Lin Mo, of course, was in the middle, with Feney to his left and Ali to his right.
