Chapter 517: Chapter 249: Shefilya Sneaking Milk Tea
’Finally, Level 10!’
At this point, the difference between his Strength and Magic Power Basic Attributes had shrunk to just four points. Next, he could pretty much lift the restrictions on his Magic and start using it in tandem with his Warrior Skills.
The group cleaned up the battlefield, primarily to collect the loot—the Rock Cores from the Shattered Rock Puppets.
Unfortunately, the Rock Core of the first one—the one whose chest Lin Mo had punched straight through with a Mountain-Shaking Fist—had also been shattered. It was a bit of a shame.
However, the rest were perfectly intact. In the end, they harvested a total of twelve Rock Cores.
An easy victory. It was time to head back and rest.
The journey here had not been easy. Although they couldn’t see the sky from inside the mine, it was probably already night outside.
The rest of the mission could wait until morning...
As the group emerged from the mine with the Shattered Rock Puppets’ Rock Cores, their guide was stunned. He had been hiding in the carriage, shivering uncontrollably, only daring to peek outside by lifting a corner of the curtain.
Listening to the "intense" sounds of battle from a distance, he had been wondering if these Adventurers could really handle those powerful Demons. When the fighting stopped, he even worried for a moment that they had lost and the Demons would rush out to finish him off, too.
Apparently, he had been worrying for nothing.
’But... how much time has passed?’
’Those Demons, with bodies as hard as a Giant’s, were all wiped out just like that?’
It wasn’t until Deke returned to the carriage with the loot and waved at him that the Guard finally came to his senses, a look of joy on his face. "Congratulations, esteemed Adventurers!"
Having the problem solved was, naturally, great news for the Guards stationed at the Giant Stone Mine.
And even though he had only been a guide, he had still contributed to the effort. He might even get a bonus out of it.
"Let’s skip the formalities. Let’s just get back quickly and get some proper rest."
Soon, the group returned to the camp.
The camp was rather crude, but it was at least a place to stay, so Deke and the others settled in.
Lin Mo, of course, would stay in the carriage, which was far more comfortable than the camp lodgings.
But first, they had to deal with dinner.
Unlike in the forest, most of the Demons in the Giant Stone Mine were inedible, so they couldn’t just go out and hunt one for a meal. The conditions at the Guard camp were also quite limited; the food consisted of simple bread, pickles, or jerky.
There was no fresh meat or vegetables. The area around the mine was barren and far from the city. The cost of transporting fresh food was too high, so it couldn’t be helped.
So, for the first time in a while, Lin Mo and his party used the ingredients they had brought from the city.
Ever since he got the Ring of Space, Lin Mo had made a habit of carrying a supply of food inside the Ring.
This included some meat, vegetables, and fruit.
The variety was decent, but the quantity wasn’t huge. After all, while the Ring of Space was large, its capacity was still limited, and he had to save room for Alchemy Items, loot, weapons, and equipment.
The ingredients stored in the Ring of Space were only enough to feed their small group for about a week.
Fortunately, they probably wouldn’t be at the mine that long, so it would be enough to last.
Lin Mo shared a small portion of his ingredients with Deke and his group. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to improve their meal and keep them from eating too poorly.
As for the Guards, there were simply too many of them for him to help.
He didn’t need to worry too much about them, though. Given their unique post and considerable strength, the Guards earned a high income. They also had a decent number of days off, so they could certainly eat well whenever they returned to the city on leave.
In an open area of the camp, Lin Mo started a fire. He grilled some meat and, along with some vegetables and the essential slices of cheese, made an upgraded version of his secret recipe burgers.
Compared to the version made with jerky when they were short on time and supplies, this new version of his secret recipe burgers was clearly much tastier.
Ali was full of praise; Feney just focused on eating, stuffing her cheeks; Shefilya took small, delicate bites, her expression as cool and detached as ever, but compared to when they first met, her gaze was clearly much softer.
In any case, after a decent dinner, the group returned to the carriage to get some rest.
Shefilya had already tidied up the carriage in advance, clearing out enough space.
There was no need to stand watch tonight. It should be relatively safe here in the camp, and after their last mission, they could now trust Deke.
Besides, having been Adventurers for so long, they all had a strong sense of alertness. When resting in the wild, they rarely fell into a deep sleep and could wake at the slightest sign of trouble.
Lin Mo’s left and right sides were once again occupied by Ali and Feney. At times like this, Shefilya never tried to compete for a spot; she just quietly stayed by Feney’s side.
When she saw Lin Mo look over, her golden eyes met his.
She quickly looked away, her gaze falling upon Feney, before she raised her eyes to look at Lin Mo again.
Though her heart was filled with complicated feelings for the man, Shefilya was unwilling to overstep her bounds.
To her, Feney was just as important as Lin Mo. She would rather see Miss Feney and Lin Mo grow closer than pursue anything for herself.
