Chapter 430: Chapter 399: Importance

Riding in a maglev car, it wasn’t long before the group of four arrived at the Transmission Center in Kansai City.

As for Fatty An and Lu Tianjiao, there was nothing to be done for now; they had to split up and return separately.

On the way to the Kansai City Transmission Center, Li Qian had already called them.

After he explained the situation, they understood and said they’d get together back at Shazhou Beast Taming University.

Unlike traveling by Flying Ship, returning to Shazhou City via the Teleportation Array was quite fast.

They were back in Shazhou City just past 8:30 in the morning.

Once back in Shazhou City, there were far fewer disturbances. They didn’t take a maglev car again, instead opting for a regular car and heading straight for Shazhou Beast Taming University.

On the way, Li Qian, still a little confused, asked, "Dean Fei, is the evolution method for the Three-legged Golden Crow really that important? Why do I feel like... everyone’s being a bit irrational?"

Li Qian genuinely didn’t understand.

The evolution method for the Three-legged Golden Crow was certainly precious, but there was no need for such a mad chase, was there?

The scene in the lobby of the Kansai Beast Taming University hotel had truly taken him by surprise.

"Is it important? Let me rephrase that for you. It’s not just important, it’s *extremely* important!"

Dean Fei’s tone was grave. "Back at Kansai Beast Taming University, if we weren’t on their grounds, I suspect some organizations or companies might have had malicious ideas."

Hearing this, the look of astonishment on Li Qian’s face grew even more pronounced. "That’s an exaggeration, isn’t it?"

"You underestimate the importance of the Three-legged Golden Crow’s evolution method, and you underestimate human greed. This is a good opportunity to give you a warning: in the future, if you achieve another major research breakthrough, never be so careless as to announce it publicly. Your first priority must be to ensure your own safety."

Dean Fei said earnestly, "You can’t be too careful. Besides, after this incident, you’ve likely been added to the kill list of a Cult Organization."

A wry smile appeared on Li Qian’s face. He didn’t know what to say.

’All I did was help out, and I ended up getting dragged into this mess.’

’What a huge loss!’

But there was no point in dwelling on it now. He’d just have to cross that bridge when he came to it.

Besides, he already had a history with the Cult Organization. Even if he hadn’t foiled their plot this time, a confrontation was inevitable sooner or later.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Li Qian brought the conversation back on track. "I understand the importance of Legendary Pet Beasts, but the reaction from Dean Long Jue and the others was still a bit beyond my expectations."

"Their reaction was perfectly normal," Dean Fei said, shaking his head and offering a different perspective.

"Legendary Pet Beasts are undoubtedly important, but that importance depends on the situation."

"There are many Legendary Pet Beasts in this world, but the vast majority of their evolution methods are not replicable."

"Many are the direct result of accidental factors."

"To possess an evolution method that can consistently produce Legendary Pet Beasts is the dream of countless major organizations, corporations, and factions."

Pausing for a moment, Dean Fei continued, "Do you know the biggest difference between the Eight Great Beast Taming Universities and ordinary ones?"

"The Dimensional Rifts they suppress?" Li Qian answered subconsciously.

That was the biggest difference he knew of.

Previously, he had always considered this to be an indisputable truth.

As it turned out, his understanding was still too shallow.

Dean Fei shook his head slightly. "Yes, but not entirely."

"Or, to be more precise, that’s not the only reason."

"You’ve entered a Dimension Plane before, so you should know that any Dimension Plane contains numerous cities within it."

"Among these cities, some of the Guardian Envoys don’t just come from the Eight Great. The Dimensional Rift suppressed by our Shazhou Beast Taming University is one such case."

"Some Guardian Envoys there are from Western Beast Taming University, or even from family factions within Shazhou City and the wider Western Province."

Without pausing, Dean Fei went on, "Therefore, whether it’s Western Beast Taming University or those family factions, although they can’t compare to us at Shazhou Beast Taming University, they don’t lack opportunities to acquire resources from the Dimension Planes."

"The main reason they haven’t grown larger and stronger is... they don’t possess an evolution method for a Legendary Pet Beast!"

"Because of this, even if an exceptionally brilliant individual contracts a Legendary Pet Beast in a particular era, their glory is fleeting, confined to that era. They can’t achieve lasting splendor!"

Li Qian nodded in agreement upon hearing this.

Following Dean Fei’s line of thought, he asked, "Are the Eight Great different because we have mastered complete evolution methods for Legendary Pet Beasts?"

"Yes!"

"Some universities have even mastered more than one complete evolution method for Legendary Pet Beasts. This is one of the fundamental reasons for the disparity in strength among the Eight Great!"

Dean Fei suddenly brought up a new topic. "Have you heard of Thunder Beast Taming University?"

Li Qian nodded. He had just crossed paths with them during the freshman challenge.

"In recent years, Thunder Beast Taming University has been rising very quickly, and there are signs they could become the ninth great university. The core reason is... they, too, have mastered a complete evolution method for a Legendary Pet Beast!"

"Only by continuously producing Legendary Pet Beasts can a university permanently suppress a large-scale Dimensional Rift. That is the true foundation of a school’s power!"

Dean Fei looked in the direction of Shazhou Beast Taming University and said with sudden, deep meaning, "And Legend is not the end. In fact, Legend is just the beginning..."

"If you want to explore what lies beyond Legend, to understand the deeper mysteries of Pet Beasts, and even the Rules of this world, you must be able to continuously produce Legendary Pet Beasts!"

Li Qian’s mind reeled at these words, and he was speechless for a long time.

What Dean Fei told him today had completely overturned his understanding of the world.

It also filled him with anticipation for his future research.

He had long suspected that Legend was not the end.

Today, Dean Fei had confirmed it for him.

But the idea that Legend was only the beginning left him rather puzzled.

’It seems the only way to understand these secrets is to continuously evolve more Legendary Pet Beasts, or perhaps even contract one myself.’

Li Qian wasn’t in a hurry, though.

He had plenty of time to ponder and research.

The car sped along, and before long, they were back at Shazhou Beast Taming University.

As they parted ways, Dean Fei specifically instructed Li Qian not to overthink things, but to focus on his studies and research.

Hearing this, the corner of Li Qian’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch.

’After everything Dean Fei told me today, how could I *not* overthink it?’

Returning to Xianya Garden and his own dorm room, Li Qian lay down on his bed and began to ponder.

This trip to Kansai Beast Taming University had been very fruitful for him, and he needed to properly digest it all.

There was one more thing, something very important...

The evolution method for the Three-legged Golden Crow!

Li Qian believed that if he created the Pet Beast research task right now... the task progress would surely be very high.

But he couldn’t guarantee it would reach one hundred percent.

However, things had already come this far. He had already evolved a Three-legged Golden Crow... There was no way he wouldn’t create this Pet Beast research task!
