Chapter 442: Chapter 410: Missing a Son-in-Law
Watching the three of them come out to greet him like a neat little family, Li Qian suddenly felt, for some reason, that he was out of place.
’Should I just go back now?’
Of course, the thought only lasted a moment in his mind before he kicked it away.
They welcomed Li Qian into the Garrison Mansion and had a subordinate bring tea. The four of them then began to chat.
"Elder Tie, are you all right?" Li Qian asked.
Although he didn’t look injured—he had seemed full of vigor when greeting him just now—Li Qian still felt he should ask.
Elder Tie patted his chest, declaring confidently, "I’m fine. When that deep Dimensional Rift first appeared, a lot of Pet Beasts poured out, but with the two of us working together to hold them off, it wasn’t a major problem."
"The two of you?" Hearing Elder Tie’s words, Li Qian glanced at Teacher Han Ke, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Elder Tie was very open about it. He glanced at Teacher Han Ke beside him and took the initiative to explain, "Yes, it’s just as you see. Your Teacher Han Ke resigned from her teaching position at the school and joined me to become a Guardian Envoy for Feihua City."
Li Qian smiled and nodded in agreement. "With two Emperor-level Beast Masters here, Feihua City is sure to be impenetrable."
Pouring Li Qian a cup of tea, Elder Tie began to recall the situation. "Actually, we were just lucky this time."
He continued without pausing, "If your Teacher Han Ke hadn’t been transferred here in advance, the first wave of the beast tide would have likely become a serious problem!"
Li Qian’s brow furrowed. He pressed, "What happened? Tell me the details..."
Teacher Han Ke took over the explanation. "During the first beast tide, Emperor-level Pet Beasts appeared. Three of them, in fact: a Mutated Gold-swallowing Beast, a Spiritual Illusion Poison Rat, and an Aurora Rat. The Aurora Rat, in particular, was as fast as lightning, making its attacks impossible to defend against."
Elder Tie added, still shaken, "If I had been alone, I would have been no match for them. I’d be lucky to have just ended up bedridden."
Li Qian was worried for Elder Tie as well, but he quickly broke into a smile and teased, "That’s why I told you, love brings good fortune."
Li Qian studied Elder Tie with a serious expression before giving his earnest evaluation, "You’re like an old tree flowering, dead wood reviving in the spring."
"Pfft!" Beside them, Irina couldn’t help but laugh out loud at Li Qian’s comment.
For once, Elder Tie looked a little embarrassed. He shot a sidelong glance at Li Qian. "That’s no way to describe it..."
After chatting for a while, Li Qian turned his head to look at Irina. "Senior Sister, what are you doing here too?"
Irina glanced at the two elders, her tone a little odd. "With something like this happening, as their child, I had to come and check on them, didn’t I?"
"That’s true," Li Qian said with a nod.
’Even if you know they aren’t in any real danger, it’s still right to come visit.’
Li Qian scratched his head, looking a bit sheepish. "Speaking of which, I’m quite ashamed. I should have come sooner, but I’ve been absorbed in my research lately, spending most of my time in a Secret Realm, so I wasn’t really up to date on the news."
He added an explanation, "I only heard the news this afternoon and rushed over without stopping."
Elder Tie waved his hand, signaling for Li Qian not to worry about it. "Ah, it’s really not a big deal!"
At that moment, Irina suddenly remembered something. "Li Qian, do you know where this deep Dimensional Rift appeared?"
"Where?" Li Qian was a bit baffled and asked instinctively.
Irina kept him in suspense. "It’s a place you know."
Almost as soon as the words left Irina’s mouth, Li Qian realized. "That valley!"
Teacher Han Ke frowned, a little perplexed. "Yes. It’s quite strange, actually. This new deep Dimensional Rift appeared in the very same valley where the Tidal Sea Spirit evolved."
It was truly a coincidence, but no other reason could explain it.
Irina picked up the thread. "Now, a fortress has been built in that valley. It’s only been half a month, but its scale is already starting to rival that of an outpost."
"That’s incredible," Li Qian said, surprised.
An outpost was comparable in size to a small town. For it to have been built to such a scale in such a short time, it was no wonder he was astonished.
"Over a thousand Adventurers are now gathered there permanently." Irina nodded, also finding it a bit surprising, even though she already knew.
"That many people? If something were to happen, wouldn’t it be dangerous?" Hearing this almost absurd number, a faint sense of worry rose in Li Qian’s heart.
He wasn’t some purely noble soul who worried about the fate of the nation and its people, but if it was within his power to help, he certainly would.
This was the same reason he had spared no effort to help the authorities during the Mo Yuan City crisis.
Elder Tie smiled, his tone certain. "Don’t worry, it’s not a big problem. Of those three Emperor-level Pet Beasts, one is dead and two are injured. They won’t dare to come out and stir up trouble for the time being."
Li Qian’s interest was piqued. He thought for a moment, then said, "I’ll go take a look tomorrow."
"I’ll go with you," Irina immediately chimed in.
Hearing this, Li Qian was a bit baffled. He looked at Irina and asked, "Senior Sister, don’t you have to go back to school?"
Irina took a sip of tea, her expression relaxed. "I graduated a long time ago. A few days ago, I also applied to stay here in Feihua City as the Vice Envoy. I’ll be stationed here from now on."
Understanding dawned on Li Qian in an instant. He glanced at Elder Tie’s newly formed family and nodded. "I see. That’s great. A happy family all together."
Teacher Han Ke suddenly looked at Li Qian, her voice strangely soft. "Yes, it’s great, but we’re still missing something for it to be a truly happy family."
Li Qian didn’t think much of it and subconsciously asked, "What’s missing?"
"A son-in-law!" A slight smile curved Teacher Han Ke’s lips as she shifted her gaze to Irina, who was sitting next to Li Qian.
"Ahem, ahem, ahem..." Hearing this, Li Qian started coughing violently.
He really hadn’t expected Teacher Han Ke’s desire to find a son-in-law to be so blatant. It was a bit much for him to handle.
He glanced at Senior Sister Yilina beside him. ’Hmm, she’s very beautiful, full of charm... especially that dominant, older-sister vibe that makes a man want to conquer her.’
Glancing at Senior Sister Yilina and seeing she had no reaction at all, as if she hadn’t heard a thing, Li Qian instantly reined in his wayward thoughts.
’This Senior Sister is much stronger than I am. Even if I had the desire, I wouldn’t have the guts.’
So Li Qian spoke up directly, changing the subject. "Um, Elder Tie, Teacher Han Ke, I’ve been rushing around nonstop. It’s getting late now... I was wondering if you could find a place for me to rest."
