Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 506 - 467: Wu You’s Request

Chapter 506: Chapter 467: Wu You’s Request

"Wu You, what are you doing here? And how did you know I was a student at Shazhou Beast Taming University?" In the campus hotel, Li Qian met an old acquaintance, the Wing Race woman, Wu You.

Li Qian was quite surprised to see her here.

He’d thought he would never cross paths with this woman again.

"Why shouldn’t I be here?" The Wing Race woman, Wu You, smiled as she looked at Li Qian. "Besides, I saw this year’s Freshmen Challenge."

"Fair enough." Hearing this, Li Qian gave a resigned smile. Thanks to the Freshmen Challenge, everyone now knew he was a student at Shazhou Beast Taming University.

"So, tell me, what brings you here?" Li Qian asked.

Wu You said, "Can’t an old friend just stop by to catch up?" Seeing the disbelief written all over Li Qian’s face, Wu You confessed, "Alright, I admit it. I’ve run into some trouble and need your help."

"What kind of trouble?" Li Qian asked.

"Aren’t you going to show me your dorm?" Wu You asked.

Li Qian glanced around the campus hotel room. He agreed it wasn’t a good place to talk, so he said, "Follow me."

And so, the two of them left the campus hotel and headed straight for Xianya Garden.

They made small talk on the way.

Through their conversation, Li Qian found out some news about Gao Yaxin.

Her Changfeng Cultivation Base ultimately had its star rating lowered, and it seemed the three shareholders had a rather unpleasant falling out.

In the end, it seemed Lu Xiaoli had pulled out. Now, the Cultivation Base was being kept afloat by just Gao Yaxin and Wen Wan, operating without much success.

Upon hearing this, Li Qian could only shake his head with a sigh.

That woman, Lu Xiaoli, was full of petty schemes and far too cunning. She was never a good partner, so her departure from the Changfeng Cultivation Base was a good thing.

As for the Cultivation Base, as long as Gao Yaxin was there, keeping it running would be no problem, given her skill and the power of the family behind her.

Chatting as they walked, it wasn’t long before they arrived at Xianya Garden.

After inviting Wu You into his dorm and pouring her a glass of water, Li Qian asked, "Can you tell me now? What did you come to see me for?"

"Help me." Wu You took a sip of water, her expression turning solemn as she uttered the two words.

"Uh..." Li Qian was a bit stunned by her answer.

He remained silent, simply watching Wu You with a questioning gaze.

Wu You sighed and began to explain her situation.

"I assume you already know about some of the traits of our Wing Race..."

Li Qian nodded.

Wu You continued, "The traits of the Wing Race allow us to form contracts with Pet Beasts, just like humans, while also possessing some Extraordinary combat power of our own."

"However, this trait isn’t without its flaws."

"Perhaps it’s because of our fused bloodlines, but our genes are flawed. For us, the Wing Race, the age of thirty is a critical threshold."

Li Qian didn’t quite understand. "What do you mean? You can’t live past thirty?"

"In a way, that’s correct." Wu You nodded and continued on.

A giant question mark appeared over Li Qian’s head.

He pointed to himself and asked, "But even if that’s true, why come to me? How could I possibly save you?"

"But you *can* save me!" Wu You interjected decisively the moment the words left his mouth.

Wu You’s words left Li Qian completely bewildered. ’What does this have to do with me?’

Seeing Li Qian’s confused expression, Wu You didn’t beat around the bush and explained the reason directly.

"Like I said, we of the Wing Race possess the traits of both Extraordinary Creatures and humans."

Wu You explained, "And there’s one well-known trait of Extraordinary Creatures: they have the capacity for evolution."

"After evolving, they experience a fundamental upgrade in both their combat power and their very level of existence."

At this, Wu You’s gaze grew intense as she stared at Li Qian. "For me, there’s only one way to solve this genetic defect, and that’s through evolution. If I can manage to evolve, I can overcome this flaw."

"Not only would my lifespan increase significantly, but my combat power would also receive a massive boost."

Hearing this, Li Qian grew even more confused. "That’s a good thing, isn’t it? Why don’t you just evolve, then?"

"No, it’s not that simple." Wu You shook her head resignedly. "Because we also have human traits, every one of us is unique. This means that the path to evolution is different for every member of the Wing Race."

"Without the help of a Beast Master, it’s incredibly difficult for us to figure out our own evolutionary paths. We’re too close to the problem to see it clearly."

By this point, Li Qian was starting to understand. He frowned and asked, "So, you’re saying...?"

Seeing that Li Qian had more or less guessed it, Wu You stopped holding back and stated her ultimate goal. "I want you to form a contract with me."

"You want me to form a contract with you, and then help you figure out your evolutionary path," Li Qian said directly.

Wu You nodded. "Yes. Of all the people I can think of, you’re the only one with this ability."

"You really have a lot of faith in me." Li Qian rubbed his nose, a faint smile playing on his lips.

He looked at Wu You and asked in a slightly teasing tone, "But what’s in it for me?"

"Forming a contract with you means I’d be giving up a Contract Position. That would have a significant impact on my overall combat power."

Hearing this, Wu You immediately retorted, "No, no, no. You wouldn’t be losing a Contract Position. You’d be gaining three."

"Once we form a contract, my Pet Beasts will be your Pet Beasts."

To be honest, Li Qian was already tempted.

However, he didn’t agree immediately. After all, this was a major decision involving one of his Contract Positions.

"I need to think about this," Li Qian said, not agreeing right away.

"How long will you need to think?" Wu You pressed.

Li Qian thought for a moment, then replied, "The New Year is almost here. Let’s talk about it after the holiday."

"Alright," Wu You said.

The two chatted for a while longer, and then Li Qian treated her to lunch.

Wu You left that afternoon.

Li Qian watched her leave, lost in thought.

Just then, Lu Tianjiao sauntered over and clapped him on the shoulder. "Buddy, you’ve got a lot of complicated relationships with women, huh? Who was that one?"

Hearing this, Li Qian pursed his lips and shot the guy an annoyed look.
