Chapter 847: Chapter 562: Subduing the Fiery Sun Kingdom With a Single Hand
"Your Majesty! Absolutely not! Our Fiery Sun Kingdom has served the Light Divine Lord for centuries. How can we betray the Divine Spirit and yield to a bunch of heretics and winged lizards!"
An old man clad in golden armor bellowed harshly, his beard and hair bristling. His aura was imposing, clearly marking him as an elite among Domain Levels. This was none other than the Kingdom Marshal, Duke Hopkins.
Beside him, an old man wearing the white robes of an archbishop and clutching a scepter echoed his sentiments. "The Duke is absolutely right! This is blasphemy! The Divine Lord’s radiance blankets this land. The Thunder Dragon Duchy is nothing but a newly risen upstart. If they dare provoke divine majesty, they will undoubtedly face Divine Punishment!"
Seated upon the throne, Karachi looked livid.
A middle-aged man dressed as a civil official on his left immediately retorted.
"Divine Punishment? Duke Hopkins! Your Eminence the Archbishop! When our nation’s Guardian, the Catastrophe Level Six-winged Angel of Death, fell in the Jade Swamp, where was the Divine Punishment? When the Mage City summoned stars to destroy the Holy Fleet, where was the Divine Punishment? Even when the Divine Lord’s Twelve-winged Divine Envoy was beheaded, where was the Divine Punishment?
"The Mage City and the Red Dragon Empire have already formed an alliance, and the entire Northern World is being consolidated! What do we use to stop them? Pious prayers?"
"Silence, Ferdinand! You are shaking the very foundations of the kingdom’s faith!" Duke Hopkins glared with wide, furious eyes.
The Archbishop raised his scepter high and declared sternly, "The Divine Spirit is merely testing us! As long as we hold fast to our faith and fight to the bitter end, the Divine Lord will never abandon his loyal flock!"
High in the sky, Raylo’s lips twitched upon hearing this. He had seen this kind of argument far too many times in the history books of his past life. It was nothing more than one faction refusing to accept reality, while the other simply wanted to survive—a classic debate between doves and hawks. He was getting a bit bored.
He had originally wanted to see what tricks Karachi had up his sleeve. Now, however, it seemed this young King was clearly unable to suppress the stubborn conservatives within his country who had been brainwashed by divine authority. But the fact that he had managed to gather all these diehard leaders of the Light Holy See in one place was good enough. There was no need to wait any longer.
Inside the council hall, the argument continued.
"I suggest we declare war on the Thunder Dragon Duchy immediately to demonstrate our resolve!" The Archbishop’s voice grew increasingly fanatical.
"HUMM!"
A terrifying pressure descended without any warning! It felt as if the entire sky had collapsed, pressing down on everyone’s shoulders.
Inside the hall, whether it was Duke Hopkins, who had been spitting as he spoke, or the fanatically shouting White-robed Archbishop, everyone’s voices abruptly ceased. Their expressions froze on their faces.
The air seemed to turn into a thick, viscous quagmire. The Domain Level Powerhouses were horrified to discover that the Magic Power and Fighting Spirit within their bodies were like frozen rivers, making circulation incredibly difficult. Merely twitching a finger required them to exhaust all their strength.
Everyone’s terrified gazes turned toward the center of the hall.
At some unknown point, a young figure had quietly appeared there. He had stepped out of the void as casually as if he were taking a stroll, looking as though he belonged there all along. His face was calm and his eyes were indifferent, as if he had merely passed through the gate of his own garden rather than trespassing into the center of power of an independent Kingdom.
Deathly silence filled the entire hall.
Raylo looked around, sweeping his gaze across faces filled with horror, shock, and fear.
"Count... Raylo," Karachi uttered from the throne, shaken by the scene. He maintained a calm facade, but his slightly trembling knuckles betrayed the stormy waves raging within his heart.
Raylo didn’t look at him. His gaze slowly swept over the pale-faced Kingdom nobles, who looked as if they were facing a mortal enemy, before finally resting on the leading figures: Duke Hopkins and the White-robed Archbishop.
"I have come at the invitation of King Karachi."
This single sentence caused Duke Hopkins and the others’ pupils to contract sharply. They looked toward Karachi on the throne in disbelief.
So, this wasn’t an invasion! This was a long-premeditated purge!
Raylo ignored their shock and fury.
"In response to the call of the Mage City and the Red Dragon Empire to expel the Light Holy See, from today onward, there shall be no churches of the Divine Spirit and no believers of the Divine Spirit within the borders of the Fiery Sun Kingdom."
He paused, then added his final sentence.
"Those who disobey will die."
As soon as he finished speaking, the White-robed Archbishop finally managed to wrench a sliver of strength free from the extreme pressure.
"Blasphemer! How dare you—"
He suddenly raised his scepter high. The Holy Gemstone at its tip burst with dazzling Holy Light, and a divine, vast Domain Power unfurled with a boom, attempting to push back the suffocating pressure.
"The Divine Lord’s radiance will surely judge you, heretic! Divine Punishment... desc—"
His prayer came to an abrupt halt.
Raylo didn’t even glance at him. He simply raised his right hand casually and pressed down in the air toward the Archbishop’s direction.
There were no earth-shattering Magic Power fluctuations, nor was there any dazzling display of Magic.
"HUMM!"
The very space seemed to solidify beneath this palm.
The newly blossomed Holy Light Domain was like a fragile lightbulb stomped by a Giant. Unable to hold out for even a single second, it let out an overwhelmed whine and shattered inch by inch!
"CRACK... CRA-CRACK..."
A series of teeth-aching, bone-cracking sounds erupted from within the Archbishop’s body. The fanaticism on his face froze, replaced by boundless fear and bewilderment. He tried to look down at his own body, only to find that he couldn’t even perform this simplest of actions.
The terrifying Catastrophe Level Power surged straight from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet. His body, like a clay pot struck by an invisible hammer, suffered a shattered spine and ruptured internal organs.
"PFFT!"
Spewing a mouthful of blood mixed with bits of internal organs, this Archbishop, who held such an esteemed status in the Fiery Sun Kingdom, failed to leave behind even a complete final word before being forcibly crushed into a limp, mangled mess on the floor.
He died without a shred of dignity.
"Die, heretic!"
A furious roar exploded. Standing beside the Archbishop’s remains, Duke Hopkins’s eyes were bloodshot. A surge of fierce bravery scattered his fear.
"Loyalty to the Divine Lord!"
He bellowed as his majestic Fighting Spirit erupted like a volcano. His golden Domain Power manifested into a roaring lion, breaking through the restraints of the pressure as he threw a punch straight at Raylo’s face!
As the Kingdom Marshal and a Domain Level Peak Powerhouse, this punch of his was enough to level a small mountain to the ground!
Faced with this earth-shattering strike, Raylo finally moved. He simply turned sideways and met it with a punch of his own.
"BOOM!"
The moment their fists collided, a terrifying sonic boom exploded within the hall.
The ferocity and determination on Duke Hopkins’s face were instantly replaced by horror. He felt as if his fist hadn’t struck a person’s hand, but rather a Star falling from Beyond the Heavens.
It was irresistible! Immovable!
The golden Fighting Spirit lion let out a whimper and dissipated on the spot. Immediately after, an unimaginable Giant Strength surged backward up his arm.
"CRACK!"
His arm bone instantly pulverized, the entire limb snapping backward at a grotesque angle.
Then, Duke Hopkins’s burly body, like a sandbag struck head-on by a Siege Hammer, was sent flying backward.
"CRASH!"
He smashed through the hastily erected defenses of several Domain Level Powerhouses behind him, ultimately crashing heavily into the Royal Palace wall built of massive boulders. The wall, several meters thick, was like papier-maché. A massive, human-shaped hole was brutally punched through it, sending rubble spraying outward.
Duke Hopkins’s figure vanished outside the hole, collapsing onto the plaza outside the palace, his fate unknown.
One palm, crushing an Archbishop to death.
One punch, blasting away a Grand Marshal.
The entire Royal Palace hall fell into a deathly stillness. The remaining dozen or so Domain Level Powerhouses stood with stiff bodies. Cold sweat soaked through their luxurious robes, and even their breathing had stopped.
They stared at the young figure standing in the center of the hall, slowly retracting his fist. Their eyes held nothing but shock and fear.
This wasn’t a battle. It was a massacre.
Raylo’s gaze swept over the room once more, his voice as calm and emotionless as before.
"Who else objects?"
Absolute silence.
The nobles who had previously been clamoring to demonstrate their loyalty to the Divine Lord and fight the heretic to the bitter end now bowed their arrogant heads, as silent as cicadas in winter.
The Divine Lord’s glory was so pale and powerless in the face of death’s shadow. Their faith in the Divine Spirit was clearly not enough to sustain them in opposing this unrivaled, imminent terror.
