Chapter 353: Chapter 105: Ruins of a Civilization

Led by Elimon, Robson and Falan, along with a group of Extraordinary Soldiers, rushed toward the place with the most concentrated Demonic Qi.

Robson and the soldiers of the Lord’s Guard were all Extraordinary. Falan was even less concerned. Demonic Qi was agonizing for ordinary people because their bodies couldn’t withstand it, but Falan was essentially a pile of stones, so physical discomfort was not an issue for him.

Elimon had originally suggested they feel their way along the walls, but he abandoned the idea after learning Robson possessed Spiritual Power.

With a series of CRASHES and THUDS, he finally blasted open an entrance large enough for a person to pass through.

The Extraordinary Soldiers charged in first.

"No problem! This place... this place is so spacious!"

The voices of the first group of Extraordinary Soldiers to enter echoed back to Robson from the passageway.

Robson and Falan exchanged a glance, then entered the tunnel one after the other.

The Demonic Qi in the tunnel was ridiculously dense. To the naked eye, it was just an opaque sea of blue.

In this respect, Elimon was right. An ordinary person would have been overwhelmed to death by such dense Demonic Qi.

As he continued down the passage, Robson felt his feet touch solid ground. He took a few tentative steps forward. The density of the Demonic Qi began to visibly thin, and soon, his surroundings came into view.

"What is this?!"

Robson retracted his Spiritual Power, intending to see if this was a large or a massive Magic Crystal Ore deposit. But as he looked around, he saw lights shining from all directions.

That’s right, lights!

These weren’t the oil lamps or blue-glowing Magic Lamps Robson had seen in other places. These were just lights! White lights!

The cavern was roughly over a hundred square meters in area, and its ceiling was over a hundred meters high.

If this cavern hadn’t been located above the iron mine, Robson would have started cursing.

After all, a hollow space this large inside the mountain made it hard to be certain about the total amount of iron ore.

Fortunately, since the cavern was above the iron mine, it would at most affect the mining operations, not the total ore reserves. Besides, any impact on mining could be compensated for with Magic.

Pushing those thoughts aside, Robson began to carefully survey the area.

This place had lights! He didn’t know if they were Magic Lamps or something else. But aside from the lights, the most eye-catching feature in the entire cavern was undoubtedly the enormous, sky-supporting pillar standing in its very center.

A black pillar supported the entire cavern.

The pillar was covered from top to bottom with complex runes.

This also served as indirect proof that this place was likely a remnant of a magical civilization, not the work of a fellow transmigrator who came before him, as Robson had speculated.

At the base of the pillar were some peculiar structures and a great many complex runes. The runes seemed to follow a specific pattern, radiating outwards from the pillar in all four directions.

The Magic Patterns would intermittently flash with a blue light, as if they were still performing some function.

"What is this?" Robson asked again, but this time, he wasn’t muttering to himself. He turned to Falan at his side.

At this moment, however, Falan’s mouth was agape, and an excited expression began to appear on his face. Robson had rarely seen such a look on him—a mix of excitement and a touch of being deeply moved.

He was so mesmerized that for a moment, he didn’t answer Robson’s question.

Robson had a good idea of what was happening, so he didn’t disturb Falan. Instead, he too turned his gaze to the black Magic Pillar Stone in the center of the cavern. He studied the intricate runes covering it, feeling the allure of Magic that defined this world.

’Indeed, no matter the world, humans are always capable of creating the most incredible things.’

Robson followed Falan, while the Lord’s Guard and Elimon stood by, equally stunned by the magnificent scene.

Falan squatted down and slowly began to brush the dust from the Magic Patterns on the ground.

When Falan removed his hand, Robson stepped forward to get a closer look. After Falan cleared away the dust, a conduit was revealed in the ground.

The conduit was black, and on it was a silvery-white emblem: a flying eagle.

"What is this?" Robson asked, looking at the emblem.

Emblems, one could say, are synonymous with civilization. Since the Stone Age, humans have used various pigments to depict magnificent animals on stone walls.

Falan listened to Robson’s question but said nothing, merely shaking his head.

Perhaps moved by the sight, Falan stared at the emblem for a very long time.

Robson lost track of time. Finally, Falan stood up and quietly uttered three words.

"I don’t know..."

"Huh?" Hearing Falan’s reply, Robson was taken aback for a moment.

Falan simply continued to shake his head.

"I just ran through every organization I can recall, and I truly don’t recognize it. I can’t remember any group that used this as their emblem."

’Seriously?!’

Robson looked at Falan, unable to stop himself from snarking internally.

’I was just about to construct an epic, moving tale about all of humanity uniting for a common cause.’
