Chapter 359: Chapter 109: Demon Beast Mountain Range
After the contract was signed, two enormous wings emerged from the swamp.
The guards didn’t lower their weapons, but at Robson’s signal, they all began to back away.
During the pursuit that day, it had been dark. Plus, Robson had been in a hurry to cut Everton down, so he hadn’t gotten a clear look. Only now was he seeing Everton’s true appearance.
When the great dragon had fully climbed out of the mire, its massive body blotted out the sun.
"Your faithful servant pays his respects, My Lord."
After coming ashore, Everton, in his great draconic body, gave Robson a surprisingly human-like bow.
Everton’s gesture put Robson’s mind at ease. His biggest fear was that Everton would climb ashore, flap his wings, and simply fly away.
After all, Lord Robson had never used a Magic Contract to bind such a powerful creature before. In all of human history, those who had accomplished such a feat had all gone down in history. As for the Magic Contracts those great figures used, Robson had no idea what kind they had signed with their dragons.
It seemed the Magic Contract was quite powerful after all.
As Everton spoke, he swept his wings toward Robson. Just as everyone grew tense, Everton spread them open, revealing a greatsword radiating a golden glow held between them.
It was the very sword Robson had left in him during the hunt.
Robson said nothing and casually took it back.
"By the way, what’s all this on your body?" Robson asked, looking at Everton.
Everton was very different from the dragons Robson knew of; a large patch of his body was pitch-black.
"This... It’s an old wound. I was injured by their flames decades ago, during a fight with a flock of phoenixes in the Demon Beast Mountain Range," Everton said, looking at the scar on his back.
’No wonder Everton was so on edge when he first met Huang Na. So there’s a history there.’
Robson nodded.
"Don’t worry," Robson said. "Now that you’ve joined my ranks, I won’t ignore your wounds."
"Haha! Then I thank you, young brother... Hsss..." Everton suddenly began to squirm. His massive dragon body twisted in the swamp, slinging loads of mud onto the shore.
Robson shielded himself with Combat Energy and watched Everton, momentarily confused.
"I didn’t feel anything before you mentioned it," Everton said, sounding rather perplexed. "But now that you’ve brought it up, I feel like the scar on my body doesn’t hurt as much anymore."
"Oh?" Robson was surprised. He stared at the scar on Everton’s back. He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he thought he could see faint specks of silver light on it.

’Is it the Mount & Blade panel again?’
Robson couldn’t figure it out, and he didn’t intend to waste much time on it.
The Mount & Blade panel was even more of a mystery than Falan’s origins. So far, all Robson knew was that the energy it emitted was likely extremely pure—superior to ordinary Combat Magic Energy. Beyond that, he hadn’t a clue.
"Perhaps you’ve been soaking in the swamp for too long, and now the wound is starting to heal. But that’s not important. You said you’re familiar with the Demon Beast Mountain Range?" Robson asked, looking at Everton.
’Soaking in the swamp for too long?’ Everton naturally didn’t believe that answer.
A swamp could indeed soothe the burning sensation from a Phoenix Flame, but Everton had never heard of one healing a wound inflicted by a high-level phoenix.
’Besides, I’d been soaking in the swamp for ages, so why hadn’t it healed before? And now it starts getting better right after I form a contract with this human?’
Everton felt the wound on his body, where some strange energy seemed to be at work. ’Did it just appear now?’
Everton thought for a moment but didn’t dwell on it. This matter was most likely related to the human before him.
But since the human didn’t seem to want to talk about it, he, Everton, wouldn’t ask. At least for now, the effects of this energy seemed quite beneficial.
"Familiar with the Demon Beast Mountain Range? Of course not, that’s unrealistic. You probably haven’t traveled this continent much, so you don’t know just how vast the Demon Beast Mountain Range is.
The entire Demon Beast Mountain Range is shaped like an ellipse, separating the inside and the outside into two different worlds.
Of course, being familiar with the entire mountain range is a bit of an exaggeration. But if you’re talking about this area, then I, Everton, can guarantee that I can tell you anything you want to know."
"However... haha, I have a small request of my own. I wonder if you might agree to it?" Everton said, looking at Robson with a smile.
"Oh? What request?" Robson asked, looking at Everton.
Although Lord Robson had already signed a Magic Contract with the dragon, the one Robson had provided was a standard, continent-wide version.
No matter how strict the Magic Contract was, it couldn’t cover every single detail. While it required Everton to answer Lord Robson’s questions truthfully, it didn’t say he had to be completely forthcoming with all information.
If Everton’s request wasn’t too excessive, Robson wasn’t opposed to agreeing.
After all, only by giving Everton a personal stake in the Affleck Domain’s magical beast enterprise would he put his full effort into it.
"This Magic Beast Contract doesn’t mention my meals or anything... so, you see, maybe we could...
I, Everton, am only thinking of you, My Lord! I need to eat my fill to have the strength to fight, right?" Everton said with a laugh.
Although Robson hadn’t met many dragons, he could guarantee that Everton was definitely among the most shameless of the Dragon Race.
In human culture, all types of dragons were synonymous with nobility and arrogance. Who had ever seen a dragon like Everton, who had started calling him "My Lord" so soon after surrendering?
He had truly grasped the essence of being human.
"You can rest assured on that front. As I’ve said, now that you’ve joined my ranks, I certainly won’t treat you poorly," Robson nodded and said.
’He’s just one dragon. How much could he possibly eat?’
"My Lord is truly generous! In that case, I am relieved," Everton said with a smile.
After they spoke, Robson had someone bring over a map of the Demon Beast Mountain Range and place it before Everton. He also summoned Ais and Gerard.
With the combined efforts of Gerard and Everton, Robson finally completed the project to fill in the topographical map of the Demon Beast Mountain Range within the Affleck Domain.
While they were at it, Everton marked out all the places in the Demon Beast Mountain Range that were rich in magical beast resources.
Robson immediately used Magic to replicate several copies of the map. He gave one to Ais, putting him in charge of organizing hunting expeditions in the domain’s section of the Demon Beast Mountain Range.
Compared to the steel production line, the Demon Beast Mountain Range was clearly a much larger gold mine. After all, Robson didn’t even have enough steel for his own use.
Besides, steel was difficult to transport, a problem magical beast materials didn’t have.
Even the lowest-tier magical beasts would have no shortage of buyers once they reached the market.
Magical beast hides could be used to make all sorts of armor and clothing, their other parts could be used to make weapons, and the consumption of magical beasts for Magic experiments was also incredibly high.
Robson could almost see three new industrial chains slowly unfolding in Affleck.
