At present, apart from the Peak Elders of the various lineages, Star Heaven Sect had approximately two hundred Offering Elders whose current cultivation realms were above the Myriad Transformations Realm.
These Offering Elders rarely appeared to concern themselves with sect affairs unless absolutely necessary. Therefore, it was entirely understandable that Qin Qingyu did not recognize the Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator who had appeared behind her, dressed in the daoist robes of Star Heaven Sect’s Chenhui Gate.
That unfamiliar aura continued approaching Qin Qingyu. At last, it stopped in front of the room:
“Congratulations on achieving Dao Union, Elder Qin.”
The Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator bowed toward Qin Qingyu and performed a formal salute.
Qin Qingyu slowly turned around. Although she had only recently entered the Dao Union Realm, her current strength was already enough to stand above every other Dao Union Realm cultivator in Chenping Continent.
It could even be said that Qin Qingyu, who had only just entered the Dao Union Realm, had already become the strongest person beneath Ascending to Immortality in the cultivation world of Chenping Continent.
Qin Qingyu’s gaze examined the Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator who remained bent in a formal salute before her.
Although she knew very well that this Offering Elder, whose cultivation was at the Myriad Transformations Realm, had been in the sect for at least a hundred or even several hundred years longer than she had, her tone was still entirely lacking in courtesy. She did not respond to the cultivator’s congratulations either:
“Who are you?”
Qin Qingyu merely spat out those three words in an icy tone.
“Fan Mowen.”
Facing Qin Qingyu’s cold attitude, the Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator slowly straightened his body and answered.
Even while directly facing a great power of the Dao Union Realm, the attitude displayed by this Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator named Fan Mowen remained neither servile nor overbearing.
In Qin Qingyu’s eyes, however, he was nothing more than an uninvited guest.
“Fan Mowen...”
As though speaking to herself, Qin Qingyu slowly repeated the name once before narrowing her eyes slightly:
“I have heard of your name, Elder Fan.”
“Then this truly is an immense honor for me.”
Fan Mowen responded upon hearing this.
“It must have been several decades ago. At the time, I happened to encounter the Sword Master Elder of Chenhui Gate, and he mentioned you to me.”
Qin Qingyu continued.
“Is that so?”
Fan Mowen replied.
“He said that Chenhui Gate had an Offering Elder named Fan Mowen, who had been traveling throughout Chenping Continent for more than three hundred years and had never once returned to the sect. His life or death was unknown, and he was deeply worried.”
Qin Qingyu said:
“I did not expect that the moment I returned to Star Heaven Sect today, I would meet Elder Fan.”
Fan Mowen smiled faintly:
“I still possess a clear understanding of my own cultivation talent. I know that I have no hope of breaking through to the upper three realms in this lifetime. Rather than stubbornly struggling along the immortal path, I might as well change my way of thinking and properly enjoy Chenping Continent’s magnificent landscapes.”
Qin Qingyu did not respond to Fan Mowen’s words. She merely continued scrutinizing the Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator before her.
The gaze of a great power of the Dao Union Realm naturally made Fan Mowen feel extremely oppressed and uncomfortable. On the surface, however, he displayed nothing at all, appearing completely calm and untroubled.
It was as though he had already experienced countless violent storms and raging tides.
A great power of the Myriad Transformations Realm could already stand independently in the cultivation world of Chenping Continent and become a dominant figure in a region.
Yet from a broader perspective, a Myriad Transformations Realm cultivator was merely a speck in the vast ocean. Everything they had experienced was no more than a childish game, like children playing house.
How many major storms and raging tides could someone at the mere Myriad Transformations Realm truly have experienced?
“Then how will you prove that you are Fan Mowen?”
Qin Qingyu slowly spoke.
“You want me to prove that I am myself?”
After hearing this, Fan Mowen paused briefly before laughing:
“Elder Qin must be joking. The fact that I can stand before you so openly today is not the best proof in itself?”
Qin Qingyu merely shook her head:
“Just as I said earlier, an Offering Elder of the Myriad Transformations Realm traveled throughout various regions for more than three hundred years and never once returned to the sect during that time... Who could know what happened over those three hundred years, or whether the Fan Mowen who returned to Star Heaven Sect is truly Fan Mowen?”
The courtyard and the room instantly fell silent.
“Hahahahahaha!”
Fan Mowen suddenly burst into hearty laughter:
“Elder Qin, you truly are meticulous, but thinking too much is not necessarily a good thing.”
Qin Qingyu did not speak. She merely continued examining the “Fan Mowen” before her with her gaze.
“I am thinking too much?”
Several breaths later, Qin Qingyu finally spoke slowly.
Only four words.
Four questioning words.
Fan Mowen continued wearing the smile on his face. However, the hearty and uninhibited smile of this elderly man, who appeared to be over sixty years old, gradually stiffened. In the end, it began to grow increasingly strange and icy:
“Elder Qin truly is the most astonishing and peerless genius of this era in Chenping Continent. I am thoroughly impressed.”
“I am not.”
Facing “Fan Mowen’s” praise, Qin Qingyu merely replied calmly:
“True Person Chen is.”
Upon hearing this, “Fan Mowen” merely shook his head with complete indifference:
“No. Chen Yan is not... He is not the most astonishing and peerless genius of this era in Chenping Continent.”
“...”
Qin Qingyu remained silent, waiting for the rest of “Fan Mowen’s” words.
“Chen Yan is the only existence in these domain heavens, from countless ages in the past to countless ages in the future, capable of contending with a Lord. He is not someone who can be mentioned on the same level as you or me.”
After pausing for a moment, Fan Mowen gave this answer.
A Lord?
These two words caused Qin Qingyu a brief moment of confusion, but she did not pursue the matter further.
“Then who exactly are you?”
Qin Qingyu asked.
“Fan Mowen.”
Fan Mowen answered.
“I am asking about your true identity.”
Qin Qingyu continued pressing him.
“Is my true identity important?”
Fan Mowen immediately countered, then continued:
“In the past, I was not Fan Mowen. In the future, I may not be Fan Mowen either. But right now, I am Fan Mowen.”
Qin Qingyu fell silent once more for a moment after hearing this.
The reason Qin Qingyu was Qin Qingyu was not merely because her cultivation talent far surpassed that of ordinary people.
Whether in the depth of her thoughts or in her ability to judge circumstances and adapt to changing conditions, she was extraordinarily outstanding as well.
“So, Elder Fan.”
Qin Qingyu spoke again:
“What brings you here to find me today?”
Fan Mowen smiled faintly:
“I know that within the Martial Immortal Mountain Range in the Northern Region of Chenping Continent, a fragment of a Sage’s cause and effect lies buried. Perhaps Elder Qin would be interested in it.”
