Chapter 951: Walled City.
’Did I go too far?’
Alan pondered, feeling slightly bad for the guy he just tortured, but then again, he had been the one to cross the line.
After all, who said he needed to cuss Alan out? He wasn’t even doing anything but enjoying the show! Though Alan had to admit, he had gone a bit overboard. Apparently, going faster than a Jet for an extended period of time was not good for the health of an average awakened, especially those who focused on magic.
To his surprise, his body instinctively reacted to the slur, more so than before. ’Lizard’ was a serious offense to someone of the Dragon species, and much like everyone else, Alan was pissed when he heard it.
However, it was a bit too much...
’I thought I’d be somewhat resistant to it by this point...’
He murmured to himself, slightly confused. After all, he wasn’t entirely a dragon anymore, with his God Beast and Void Spawn genetics fully awakened. Surprisingly... he had a feeling they amplified it.
Each of the Three Prime Species reacted to certain slurs... For the Dragons, it was Lizard, or anything associated with it. For God Beasts, it depended on the Tribe. For land-dwelling tribes, Mutt got them riled up; for aerial tribes, it was pigeon. He didn’t know what riled up Aquatic God Beast tribes or Void Spawns.
Apparently, his God Beast and Void Spawn parts reacted to being called a ’Lizard’ as well... Maybe the Three Prime Species were connected more deeply than he thought. Pride of the Top three, maybe? Perhaps they didn’t tolerate anyone berating them.
’I wonder when I can control this...’
Getting riled up by a slur was unfitting for a Prime Species, which was why they only worked on the young ones, or those that were a bit immature. It was hard to rile up an elder with the slurs.
Though if you did manage it, you should just give up and pray you escape with your life.
Alan scratched his chin and sighed, expanding his mana sense outward. Unfortunately, nothing appeared to obstruct their journey. He hoped one or two would come, and he could relieve some stress, but alas.
The beasts were smart, staying as far away from Alan as they could. He would need to use his aura to hide in space to make them even wander near him. Anything lower than his level would simply sense his mana, and even if Alan tried to hide it as best he could, they would still stay away.
The level of his existence far outclassed anything on Earth; only an SS or SSS-rank beast would consider approaching.
’Ah, there it is.’
Alan whistled as he saw a walled city appear in his field of view, the city of Las Vegas.
’Too bright.’
He complained. The city was brighter than even Askolt, with a surprising number of skyscrapers rising as high as they could, all glowing for some unknown reason. It also had a lot of skylights, all aiming at him and the aircraft behind him. For a single second, Alan saw the turrets mounted up on the walls turn to him before turning away.
Las Vegas had no prominent dungeons near it, nor a labyrinth. However, while it did not have a prominent dungeon, it had hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dungeons around it, as well as a few in the territory of the other states.
The strong monster presence in Phoenix drove any monsters near the city and the entire state to fear for their life and run towards Las Vegas, while the myriad dungeons around it constantly spewed out monsters. Las Vegas dealt with at least four monster waves every month, although all of them were low-rank monsters.
Extremely rarely, the strongest monster in the horde is a B-rank. Apparently, the city let these dungeons run wild, farming the monsters it produced for their magic stones. The walls, along with the military, the Association, and the Guild Titan, all dealt with the monster waves rather quickly.
The money from the countless magic stones and other materials generated was simply too much to ignore. The rampant dungeons were left alone simply to birth more monsters to kill. While a few of them sometimes broke into the slums and caused some havoc, the bigshots ignored it.
That was during the rule of the Hiddleston family, though. With the Association in charge, the slums were reinforced, and a monster had yet to break through.
Aware of this information, Alan had a weird thought pop up in his mind. The monsters ran here simply because of the strong monster presence in Phoenix, as well as the dungeons urging them to kill human beings... But would they do the same with Alan in the city?
He was a Dragon, God Beast, and Void Spawn, the apex of the apex. Would the monsters choose him or the monstrosity in Phoenix? Even dungeon monsters were affected by his existence. Monsters had a sort of sixth sense, choosing to avoid extremely strong monsters.
Maybe Las Vegas would be free from any invasions as long as he was here. But that was still unclear.
He chuckled thinking about it, and approached the city, following the instructions of the aircraft pilot. His wings attracted a bit too much attention, so he put them away, floating in the air with his magic.
Soon enough, they approached a military compound in the city, and Alan landed slightly in front of the Helipad. Stretching his body, he waited for everyone to disembark.
The guy he tortured was still out of it, white as snow with froth leaking out of his mouth. Alan clicked his tongue, feeling bad for the guy, and approached him. Everyone made way, afraid.
Holding out his hand, he channeled his bloodline, and soon enough, it began to glow bright green. Far more potent than any healing spell on Earth, his bloodline made quick work of the man, recovering his body and waking him up.
Unfortunately for him, Alan was the first thing he saw, and so he passed out again.
"..."
"HAHA!"
Alexander laughed as Alan sighed, lifting the man with his mana before throwing him towards his guild members. Ordering them.
"Carry this idiot to the medical facility here or something. He’s fine; my bloodline even cured that scar he had on his stomach, just needs to not see me whenever he wakes up."
One of the Behemoth members even checked the man’s stomach, likely a friend, finding the scar to be gone. They gathered around and discussed it.
He rolled his eyes, walking towards Amanda Wells and the other two leaders.
