Chapter 1897: Chapter 43: No Homework Submitted

"I’m sorry, what happened before was my fault. Please forgive me."

"Say it louder." Ping Simin smirked triumphantly, refusing to meet her family’s warning gaze.

"I’m sorry." Gu Yunbo finished, sat straight down at the breakfast table, and before Ping Simin could say anything else, she gave a blunt warning, "You’d better know when to stop."

"Enough! Stop arguing, eat your food!" Zhu Meihua stepped in.

"Anyone who dares to keep arguing can get the hell out." Ping Guo Fei’s anger still packed plenty of force; if he hadn’t come back in person, who knew how far Ping Simin would have blown this up.

And he’d already talked to her last night: since they knew Gu Yunbo was dangerous, you couldn’t push someone like that too hard. From the moment they brought her back, they had to treat her as family; otherwise, the only thing you’d bring home was an enemy.

"Hmph! Count yourself lucky."

"Alright, eat up. Once we’re done, Dad and I have to hurry back to the rescue team." Ping Qing said calmly, "You two should get to school for your extra classes. The college entrance exam determines your future for the rest of your life—if you don’t do well, you’ve got no one to blame but yourselves."

Ping Simin was most willing to listen to Ping Qing, and she absolutely didn’t want to lose the college entrance exam—and especially not lose to Gu Yunbo.

With each autumn rain it got colder, and soon the Northern region saw its first snowfall. Goose-feather snowflakes fluttered down for a whole night, turning the world pure white. On the way to school for remedial classes, you could see little kids in thick cotton jackets rolling snowballs.

It had already been over half a year since Gu Yunbo’s Rebirth, and ever since she moved out of the Meng Family’s place last time, she hadn’t seen Meng Fan again. Ping Qing wrote back saying they were extremely busy, and during that time they even went on a border reconnaissance mission, two whole months out in the field—everyone came back looking like hell.

Except Meng Fan.

For someone who eats wind and sleeps under the open sky yet never gets tanned, it really did make the old folks jealous.

She put away the smile at the corner of her lips and stepped into the classroom right as the bell rang. Teacher Guo, already holding a book and ready to start class, saw her come in and his nose practically crooked with anger.

"Gu Yunbo."

"Here!" Dropping her army-green backpack, Gu Yunbo stood up with quick, neat movements.

"Where’s your homework? Where’s your homework?" Probably because he was really furious, Teacher Guo asked twice in a row. He’d known for a while this girl was a troublemaker, but he hadn’t expected her to be this over the line.

Hmph! Two whole months without turning in a single assignment—absolutely intolerable.

"Teacher, I’ve been too busy, I didn’t have time to do homework." Gu Yunbo’s big black-and-white eyes were wide open, her face the picture of innocence.

The tiny class of twenty instantly erupted in loud laughter. "Hahahaha—"

"Gu Yunbo, you might as well just go home! Stop embarrassing yourself here."

"Yeah! Do you even know what you’re doing?"

"Are you actually here to study?"

"Exactly! Look at how mad you’ve made the teacher."

Clearly, everyone had long been watching Gu Yunbo’s behavior. Most of the girls didn’t like her, and the students focused on the college entrance exam kept well away from her.

Instead, it was the delinquents whose parents had forced them to attend the class who were thick as thieves with her, trailing after her calling her Big Sis.

"You all shut the hell up. If you dare talk about my Sister Bo like that again, believe it or not, I’ll kill you." A tall teen with thick sword-shaped brows roared fiercely, scaring the entire class into instant silence; the classroom went dead quiet, even more effective than the teacher shouting.

Gu Yunbo shot the boy a look that said, now that’s more like it, and the originally fierce-looking boy immediately broke into a goofy, silly grin.

Teacher Guo was so furious he flung the book in his hand aside and yelled at Gu Yunbo, "You, come with me to the office."
