Chapter 1918: Chapter 64: New Year’s Gathering
The others laughed and said, "Gao Jinglin, are you even a man? Why are you so cowardly?"
"Exactly, just a little girl and you chicken out like that?"
Someone slammed the table, "He’s pampering his wife, don’t you get it? No wonder you’re all bachelors destined to be single forever."
"I’m still young."
"I think it’s your buddy that’s still young, haha..."
Everyone burst into laughter and started jeering wildly. It seemed that they were accustomed to it since childhood, so no one actually got angry. They all ganged up to drag down the guy who just spoke, pinning him under the table and giving him a good beating.
"Help! Help!" In the end, the beaten man crawled out from the other side of the table, looking bruised yet still wearing a sleazy smile. He crawled to Gao Jinglin, snatched the enamel mug from his hand, and chugged down the wine in one breath.
Gao Jinglin yelled angrily, "Tian Bantong, are you asking for it? Why’d you steal my drink?"
The man who liked to stir up the most trouble was named Tian Banshan. His name had various interpretations, some sounding particularly rustic, others quite imposing. But the most accurate interpretation was Bantong.
Meaning he could drink half a barrel.
"I just spoke up for you and got beaten up, and you didn’t even try to help, serves you right." Tian Banshan wiped his mouth with his sleeve and sat beside Gu Yunbo.
"Miss," he said, flashing a lecherous smile.
Gu Yunbo returned a smile, unfazed by his sleazy manner. In her eyes, these guys were just intentionally bluffing to scare people. When she first met Gao Jinglin at school, he was even more arrogant and outrageous than Tian Bantong!
But after she taught him a lesson, he was as obedient as a domesticated dog.
Tian Bantong slapped Gu Yunbo’s thin shoulder excitedly, "Wow! Impressive! No wonder Gao Jinglin calls you Sister Bo." Being unfazed by his sleazy demeanor was quite rare.
Gu Yunbo raised his wrist, as Tian Bantong secretly applied force, their strength locked in mid-air for not even thirty seconds before his pig-squeal echoed.
"Ow, ow, ow..."
The originally noisy living room fell silent except for Tian Banshan’s voice, as everyone halted and glanced at Gu Yunbo with strange looks. His arm had already wilted powerlessly in her grip.
"Sorry!" Gu Yunbo said with a cheerful smile. "Seems like it’s dislocated, let me fix it for you." Her words barely ended as she swiftly popped it back, prompting another ghostly cry from Tian Banshan.
"Alright, stop scaring everyone by yelling like that. Are you really that pathetic?" Gao Jinglin looked at him with disdain, recalling how when he was beaten up worse, he didn’t even make a sound.
"It really hurt!" Tian Banshan whined with a pitiful expression, almost making everyone puke out their meal.
"Bantong, can you stop grossing everyone out?"
"Think you’re the Young Chairman?"
"Who gave you that courage?"
Another wave of jeering poured down, as Tian Banshan flipped the crowd off and said to Gu Yunboshu, "Sister Bo, I’m heading to the medical room, let’s play Mahjong later."
"Scram, scram! Don’t get in the way here."
With Tian Banshan absent, the atmosphere wasn’t as lively as before. Everyone had long since finished eating, and some who hadn’t drunk helped the auntie clean the table as Gu Yunbo also joined in the tidying up.
