Chapter 153 - 152: Turn a Blind Eye

Chapter 153: Chapter 152: Turn a Blind Eye

"Senior Brother Pang, Senior Brother Zhuang, it’s been a while!"

As he drew near, Wu Chen familiarly greeted the two men he knew.

"Huh! Not only does he look like Younger Brother Wu!"

In response to the greeting, Pang Lei expressed his surprise again. "And he sounds a lot like him, too!"

Wu Chen: "..."

Zhuang Bo: "..."

Xue Hongling: "..."

Hearing him say "Younger Brother Wu," Xue Hongling’s last remaining worries completely vanished.

From the atmosphere, she could tell that Wu Chen wouldn’t need to pay any sort of toll to leave through the mystic realm’s entrance controlled by the four sects.

Seeing everyone’s speechless expressions, Pang Lei finally snapped out of it.

"Oh, my! It just didn’t click for a second there, hahaha!"

Pang Lei scratched his head sheepishly, laughed awkwardly, and walked over to Wu Chen.

He sort of understood, but only a little.

What he understood was that it wasn’t just the four sects that could enter the mystic realm.

What he didn’t understand was: could Wu Chen have actually snuck in from the Blood Slaughter Sect’s side, right under the noses of all those Blood Evil Elders?

"My lord, be careful! Don’t be deceived by these two!"

The three men kneeling on the ground saw Wu Chen and Xue Hongling approach. After their initial shock at the familiar faces, they saw how friendly the two sides seemed. A thought suddenly struck them, and they shouted loudly:

"These two are from the Blood Slaughter Sect! You absolutely must not associate with them! The girl next to him is even someone the Blood Palace has specifically demanded!"

"If you’re deceived, you’ll be in mortal danger!"

Their voices were extremely loud. They hoped that by exposing them, they could win the trust of these disciples from the righteous sects, like Pang Lei.

And thereby use this chance to escape the Blood Slaughter Sect.

After all, while Wu Chen’s affiliations might be unclear, everyone knew that Xue Hongling bore the mark of the Blood Palace!

Just by revealing the mark on her wrist, they could prove the truth of their words and expose the duo’s true identities.

Pang Lei: "..."

Zhuang Bo: "..."

Wu Chen: "..."

A brief silence fell over the scene as all eyes focused on the figure beside Wu Chen.

"I..."

She started to say something, but saw that Pang Lei, for once, had reacted quickly.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

He kicked the three men to the ground, cursing:

"Bullshit!"

"You think I don’t know what kind of person my Younger Brother Wu is? Who are you to spout this nonsense to me!"

The three of them were seeing stars from the impact and couldn’t speak.

Wu Chen, however, unhurriedly walked forward. After the three had recovered a bit, he said amiably:

"You say I’m from the Blood Slaughter Sect. Then tell me, what have I done?"

"Hmph!"

Knowing it was a matter of life and death, that their only hope of survival was to expose Wu Chen’s identity, one of them immediately began to list Wu Chen’s crimes:

"You wantonly plundered the Blood Slaughter Sect’s medicinal ingredients! Utterly tyrannical!"

"Not only that, you plundered them repeatedly! You’re insatiably greedy!"

"You also slaughtered members of the Blood Slaughter Sect with vicious methods..."

"And also..."

As he spoke, his voice grew softer and softer until he couldn’t continue.

’That’s right,’ he thought. ’Wu Chen robbed the Blood Slaughter Sect of its ingredients and killed members of the Blood Slaughter Sect... what does any of that have to do with the righteous sects?’

If anything, his accusations only made the young man before them seem even more innocent.

But he wasn’t resigned to it. He stared intently at Xue Hongling and said:

"She has the mark of the Blood Palace on her wrist! She really is from the Blood Slaughter Sect! Really from the Blood Palace!"

RATTLE!...

As the three frantically tried to prove their case, a black, python-like chain rattled as it coiled around them. With a sharp pull, it suddenly tightened.

CRACK!

In an instant, the necks of the three men snapped to the side with a crisp crack of breaking bone.

"Hmph!"

Pang Lei flicked his arm, and the chain retracted back onto it. He looked at the three corpses on the ground and snorted coldly.

"Just as I’d expect from those venomous Blood Evil demons. I knew you had some other purpose for coming here. And now you even dare to try and drive a wedge between me and Younger Brother Wu. You deserved to die!"

Perhaps before, he’d had the thought of handing the three over to the Law Enforcement Hall to be dealt with.

But seeing them continuously slander Wu Chen—a man who had killed who-knows-how-many members of the Blood Slaughter Sect—and knowing their words held no water, there was nothing left to say.

As for the matter of checking whether the young woman beside Wu Chen really had the mark of the Blood Palace on her hand...

Pang Lei shook his head to himself.

’Anyone with eyes can see what’s going on with her standing next to Wu Chen. Who would dare go up and check!’

’Itching for a beating?’

’Or have a death wish?’

He kicked the three corpses aside, walked up to Wu Chen, glanced at Xue Hongling, and then asked with concern:

"Younger Brother Wu, she doesn’t have some kind of hold on you, does she?"

"..."

’You’d better be talking about blackmail!’

Wu Chen shook his head, indicating that she didn’t.

Seeing his calm expression, Pang Lei didn’t press the matter. Besides, with Wu Chen’s strength, he didn’t seem like the type who could be coerced.

"So, Younger Brother Wu, you came in from... the Blood Slaughter Sect’s side of the mystic realm?"

Although Pang Lei knew there could be no other answer, he still found himself asking the question as if possessed.

Wu Chen nodded. "I was curious about the mystic realm, and I heard you could also get in through the Blood Slaughter Sect’s territory, so I took a detour to check it out."

"*Hiss!*"

The three disciples from Refining Valley secretly clicked their tongues in amazement. They naturally knew it was possible to enter the mystic realm from the Blood Slaughter Sect’s side, and that it wasn’t particularly difficult.

But to do so right under the noses of who-knows-how-many Blood Evil Elders... that definitely required some serious guts.

At the very least, Pang Lei knew he wouldn’t be able to go to the Blood Slaughter Sect on Purple Mist Mountain all by himself and take such a huge detour to get into the mystic realm.

"And this young lady is?"

Pang Lei looked at the girl beside Wu Chen, one eye open and one eye closed on his dark face.

He was clearly only asking as a formality. Whatever answer Wu Chen came up with, he would believe it.

"Oh, her? Her name is Hong Ling."

Wu Chen said without batting an eye, "She’s just my little sister."

"Hong Ling, let me introduce you to everyone."

The name rolled off Wu Chen’s tongue easily as he pulled Xue Hongling forward and began the introductions:

"This is Pang Lei, Senior Brother Pang. This is Zhuang Bo, Senior Brother Zhuang..."

"Hello, Senior Brother Pang. Hello, Senior Brother Zhuang..."

At Wu Chen’s introduction, Xue Hongling greeted each of them one by one.

Her crisp, clear voice delighted the men, and their faces broke into wide smiles. After all, Refining Valley didn’t really have any girls as stunning as she was.

"So, are you two siblings planning to leave the mystic realm from this side?" Pang Lei looked at them and got down to business.

"No, we have other important matters."

As Wu Chen spoke, he took out the mystic realm map and unfolded it, saying:

"Senior Brother Pang, do you know if there’s a place with collapsed buildings anywhere in this mystic realm? I didn’t see anything like that on the Blood Slaughter Sect’s side, so I came over here to ask."

"Ah, that!"

Pang Lei also took out a map, handed it to Wu Chen, and said:

"This is the map for our side. You can take a look first. But as for the area with collapsed buildings you’re asking about, I’ve honestly never heard of it, let alone seen any buildings anywhere."

Wu Chen was taken aback. The other man had given him the map their own sect had drawn; there was no reason for him to lie. The place most likely didn’t exist.

Still, Wu Chen unfolded the map, searching for any clues.

Naturally, they knew their own territory best. The areas occupied by the four sects were marked in much greater detail on this map.

And for the disciples’ safety, the danger level of each area and what cultivation realm was needed to handle it were all clearly marked.

Wu Chen glanced at the map but couldn’t find any relevant clues.

In the end, he could only ask the same question as before:

"Senior Brother Pang, in your territory, are there any dangerous places that are difficult to set foot in?"

"Dangerous? If we’re talking about danger, everywhere in the mystic realm is dangerous."

Pang Lei’s dark face scrunched up in thought. "But generally speaking, as long as you stick together in a group, you can turn most dangers into safety."

"As for what you said about ’difficult to set foot in’..."

SLAP!

Lost in thought, Pang Lei slapped his hand, his eyes lighting up. He had actually thought of a place.

"*Hiss!* Younger Brother Wu, now that you mention it, there really is a place just like you described, where no one dares to tread!"

"But you can’t really call it a ’place.’ Anyway, it’s just really dangerous!"

Wu Chen raised an eyebrow. "Not a place? Then what is it?"

"Gray fog!"
