Chapter 251: Chapter 250: Three Punches Shatter the Tiger Demon’s Soul
The head-splitting roar of the tiger did nothing to slow Wu Chen’s speed in the slightest.
Whether the roar affected him or not was irrelevant. The young woman not far behind him was gasping in agony, desperately trying to stifle her cries. That alone gave him no reason to wait.
"Shut up!"
Wu Chen arrived in the blink of an eye. He leaped into the air and brought his blade down in another vicious, overhead chop, aiming for the beast’s savage head. He intended to end the Tiger Demon with a single, decapitating blow.
But the Tiger Demon seemed prepared. Facing the powerful, heavy strike, it twisted its body in a sudden spin.
This was one of the Tiger Demon’s three signature moves: the pounce, the flip, and the shear.
The Shear!
As the Tiger Demon spun, its tail—as thick as an arm and nearly as long as its body—whipped toward Wu Chen like an iron chain.
WHOOSH!—
As the long tail whipped past, Wu Chen felt the very air turn sharp. Every gust of wind that scraped across his skin felt like a razor’s edge.
Against such a powerful attack, Wu Chen had no choice but to change his move, redirecting his blade to strike the massive, whip-like tail.
CLANG!
He had expected this strike to sever the tail, just as he had severed its fleshy wing moments before.
He never expected the impact to send a shower of sparks flying, as if steel had struck steel. The immense force knocked him seven feet sideways through the air before he landed.
’Those wings... they weren’t part of this Tiger Demon?’
’The difference is just too great!’
Wu Chen faintly sensed something was wrong. After all, the feeling of his blade cutting the wing versus the tail was starkly different.
The fleshy wings seemed to have been grafted on.
’In other words, there’s some method for manifesting wings out of energy?’
Wu Chen glanced at the pile of mangled flesh on the ground. After a moment of thought, he shook his head.
Regardless of whether there was a method to temporarily gain flight, looking at the bare, hairless, foul-smelling pile of flesh-colored sludge on the ground, Wu Chen figured it wasn’t any sort of righteous technique.
It might even be that the Tiger Demon already possessed this potential, but used some method from the Evil Path to prematurely gain a portion of its ability to fly.
’Regardless, I’ll kill this thing first and figure it out later!’
Done with overthinking it, Wu Chen looked up at the Tiger Demon before him.
Although the tail whip had sent him flying, the Tiger Demon hadn’t come out unscathed either.
The force of the impact had been transmitted back through its own tail, causing its massive body to stagger.
SWISH!
Before it could regain its footing, Wu Chen tapped his toes on the ground and landed steadily on the tiger’s broad back.
He flipped his blade into a reverse grip, the tip pointing straight down.
Then, just before the Tiger Demon could react, he plunged the blade toward the base of its neck.
SHNK!
With just a slight press, using very little strength, the tip of Wu Chen’s blade pierced the golden-yellow fur and sank into the flesh and bone at the back of the Tiger Demon’s neck.
He half-knelt on the Tiger Demon’s back, gripping the hilt with both hands. As he gently twisted the blade, he unleashed the chilling energy from within his body.
Instantly, a frigid energy erupted from the blade and began to wreak havoc inside the Tiger Demon’s body!
"AWOOO!"
With another bloodcurdling howl, the Tiger Demon thrashed its body violently, trying to throw off the "ant" on its back.
But Wu Chen’s feet seemed to have taken root, holding him firmly to the striped tiger’s back.
No matter how it thrashed, Wu Chen remained unmoved.
’This thing! Its vitality is absurdly strong!’
Feeling the beast’s violent struggles beneath him, Wu Chen was inwardly shocked.
The blood-red blade in his hand had a corrosive effect on flesh and blood; the pain of having it embedded in its body was surely unimaginable.
On top of that, the frigid energy from his own body was continuously pouring into the Tiger Demon, destroying its internal organs and life force. The agony must have been excruciating.
Yet even with all this, the Tiger Demon’s aura showed no sign of weakening.
’So much for the Overlord Body, so much for Reincarnators... they’re nothing special...’
’The Demon Race are the ones truly favored by heaven and earth!’
Wu Chen grumbled to himself.
He used to think the Overlord Bloodline was ridiculously overpowered, and that the power backing Reincarnators was boundless.
But now, seeing this Tiger Demon—an existence equivalent to a Human Race expert in the Leakless Realm—take several blade wounds and show no sign of dying, all thanks to its powerful physique...
...Wu Chen was starting to think that the Demon Race might just be the most powerful race in the world.
’I refuse to believe you won’t die!’
A flash of impatience crossed Wu Chen’s eyes. Gripping the hilt with both hands, he put his back into it and viciously ripped the blade sideways as he leaped off the Tiger Demon’s flank.
SCRRRAAAPE!—
The motion tore a massive gash down the Tiger Demon’s back, starting from its neck.
Hot blood sprayed everywhere, and a foul, metallic stench filled the air.
The Tiger Demon seemed oblivious to the pain in its back. It just turned its head to look at the figure who had just landed.
With its internal organs damaged, blood now trickled from the savage beast’s mouth and nose, soaking its fur and making it look even more horrifying.
Seeing the young man finally on the ground, the Tiger Demon lunged without hesitation, snapping its jaws at him.
It had already guessed that this member of the Human Race was at least at the Leakless Realm.
That meant no matter how grievous its injuries were today, as long as it could devour this man and the Blood Coagulation Realm expert in the distance...
...the pain of its severed wing, its damaged organs... all of it could be healed. Better yet, its power would rise to a whole new level!
’Tough bastard!’
Watching the head lunge toward him, Wu Chen frowned slightly as he glanced at the enormous wound on its back.
He thought that last attack would have left it half-dead at best. He never imagined it would still have this much fight left in it!
He leaped again, landing back on the Tiger Demon’s back and causing its snapping jaws to bite down on empty air.
This time, he aimed the tip of his blade at the Tiger Demon’s skull.
However, it penetrated less than an inch before the tip was stopped by something hard, unable to advance any further.
"Break!"
Wu Chen raised his fist. A stream of light coiled around his knuckles. Then, he slammed this punch, brimming with Qi Power, down onto the hilt of his blade.
DONG!
CRACK!
With that one punch, the dark blade plunged more than a foot into the back of the tiger’s skull. The sound of cracking bone echoed from within the Tiger Demon’s head.
"AWOOO!"
The pain from its shattered skull was beyond anything it had ever felt; the Tiger Demon felt its very soul tremble.
It roared, frantically burning its blood essence. At the stump where its wing had been severed, flesh began to regenerate at a visible, frenzied pace.
The excruciating pain radiating from the back of its head finally brought a flicker of fear to the Tiger Demon’s eyes.
It realized that the young man was still completely unharmed and seemed to be fighting with ease.
Meanwhile, it had been getting thrashed repeatedly.
This meant the man’s speed was far greater than its own, and his Qi Power was no weaker either. Its brutish physique alone was completely useless against him!
At this thought, only a single word remained in the Tiger Demon’s mind: Flee.
It had to escape. If it could just get into the sky, it could twist and shake off this troublesome member of the Human Race!
The Tiger Demon frantically burned its blood essence. In the space of a single breath, a ten-foot-long fleshy wing finished growing.
But at that exact moment, Wu Chen’s second punch fell.
DONG!
The blade sank another foot.
The pain, now deep in its brain, made the Tiger Demon’s body tremble violently. Still, it flapped its wings, and its massive body shot a hundred feet into the air in an instant.
WHOOSH!
Wind roared past Wu Chen’s ears. As they shot into the air, his surroundings became a vast, empty expanse.
But he paid it no mind, simply raising his arm once more and gathering all his strength.
His third punch, wreathed in flowing light, landed on the hilt before the Tiger Demon could flap its wings a second time.
DONG!
As this immensely powerful punch landed, the blade sank completely into the Tiger Demon’s head.
Not only that, but the force was so great that the blade’s tip pierced straight through the Tiger Demon’s lower jaw. The entire weapon shot clean through the demon’s brain, emerging as a streak of black light that plunged into the ground below, where it stood quivering.
A blow that had pierced straight through its brain!
WHOOSH!
With this final blow, the Tiger Demon could hold on no longer. Its body went limp and plummeted from the sky.
THUMP—
The Tiger Demon’s massive corpse hit the ground with a heavy tremor. It lay limp and silent, its previous ferocity completely gone.
’Looks like no matter how tough the body, the head is still a weak point.’
Wu Chen jumped down from the Demon Corpse, letting out a slight sigh of relief.
He had genuinely been afraid the Tiger Demon would carry him hundreds of feet into the air. In his current state, he wasn’t sure he could have survived a fall from such a height.
He picked up the blade from where it was stuck in the ground, retrieved the scabbard lying nearby, and sheathed his weapon. Then, he turned to look at the figure behind him.
"Can you get up on your own?"
"..."
At that moment, Sun Yuting was propped up on one arm, staring blankly at the massive Demon Corpse.
When she saw the Tiger Demon about to take flight with Wu Chen, she had been preparing to forcibly burn her own life essence to help him.
But she never expected that the Tiger Demon would only flap its wings once before plummeting from the sky, becoming a lifeless heap on the ground.
Although it seemed like an arduous battle, Wu Chen had actually slain the Tiger Demon in less than ten minutes.
Sun Yuting stared at the scene, wondering if she was still in a daze from the effects of the mark, perhaps even dreaming.
But as the young man’s voice reached her, the dazed look in Sun Yuting’s eyes gradually faded, and she understood what had happened.
Wu Chen had slain the twin-winged Tiger Demon!
"I’m fine."
Sun Yuting nodded. With the Tiger Demon dead, the mark on her forehead vanished. The summons was broken, and the Qi Power in her body began to slowly recover.
"Then get up."
Seeing that the young woman’s aura was returning to normal and that she wasn’t in any serious danger, Wu Chen turned his head to look at the still-warm corpse and thought to himself:
’Now, it’s time for my reward!’
