Longevity: My Cheat Unlocked in My Old Age

Chapter 74: Tier Two Blast Flame Talisman

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Tier Two Blast Flame Talisman

When the Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator from the Bai family threw himself to the ground before him, Li Ping couldn’t help but look confused.

"What does the Bai family’s business have to do with me?"

He had made an agreement with the Bai family’s Ancestor and Patriarch Bai Mingde. He would lend the Bai family his reputation as a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, and if anyone were to ask, he would not deny the connection.

Anything else, however, had nothing to do with him.

But Bai Lin was standing right there, and Li Ping wasn’t a completely heartless man. For Bai Lin’s sake, he said patiently, "Get up first. Tell me in detail what has happened."

Hearing Li Ping’s words, the Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator from the Bai family scrambled to his feet and quickly explained the crisis his family was facing.

In his extreme anxiety, his words were jumbled and incoherent, but Li Ping managed to grasp the general situation.

During the beast tide, the Bai family chose to defend their position on Gaoji Mountain. Unfortunately for them, a beast horde led by five Tier Two Demon Beasts—each equivalent to the Foundation Establishment Stage—had now surrounded the mountain.

The Bai family was utterly incapable of resisting a Demon Beast horde of this magnitude. That was why their Ancestor had sent this man to beg for help, hoping that Li Ping would go to Gaoji Mountain and save them.

Of course, this favor wouldn’t be for free. As long as he helped the Bai family avert the crisis of annihilation, he could name his price.

Hearing this, Li Ping simply shook his head. He had no intention of leaving the city to help the Bai family fight off a beast tide; it was far too dangerous.

The way the messenger described it, it didn’t sound all that dangerous. It seemed as if Li Ping’s presence, combined with the Bai family Ancestor’s strength, would guarantee the defense of Gaoji Mountain.

But who knew what kind of accidents might happen?

What if a Tier Three Demon Beast showed up?

Besides, even though the Bai family said he could name his price, there was nothing he actually wanted from them.

However... as his eyes swept over to the anxious Bai Lin beside him, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

Bai Lin’s entire family was on Gaoji Mountain. If the Array there was breached by the beast tide, they would all surely die. One could only imagine the anxiety she must be feeling.

A bond forged in intimacy is not easily broken. In the end, Li Ping couldn’t be so heartless as to completely ignore Bai Lin’s plight.

After a moment of thought, Li Ping made his decision. He looked at the Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator from the Bai family and shook his head. "I only just broke through, and my Cultivation Technique isn’t suited for Magical Combat. I cannot go to Gaoji Mountain to help your esteemed family fight off the beast tide."

At Li Ping’s refusal, a look of sorrow washed over the Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator’s face.

Bai Lin, on the other hand, looked at Li Ping, her eyes filled with pleading.

Li Ping smiled. "I may not be able to go to Gaoji Mountain, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help the Bai family."

As he spoke, he pulled five crimson Spirit Talismans from his Storage Bag, drawing the attention of both the Bai family’s Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator and Bai Lin.

Li Ping didn’t keep them in suspense. "These are five Tier Two Middle Grade Blast Flame Talismans," he explained directly. "I bought them on the black market a long time ago. Once activated, each one has the power equivalent to a full-force strike from a Mid-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator. With these five Spirit Talismans, you should be able to break the siege on the Bai family."

The Blast Flame Skill was a Tier Two intermediate Magic, something typically only a Mid-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator could master.

Even if an Early-stage Foundation Establishment Cultivator managed to learn it, a single casting would drain most of their Magical Power. Worse, they would have no control over its direction or accuracy; they might as well be setting off fireworks.

That said nothing of the highly difficult task of sealing the Magic into a Spirit Talisman.

Therefore, under normal circumstances, one needed to be at least at the Mid-stage of Foundation Establishment to create a Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talisman.

Li Ping, however, was an exception. With the blessing of the Tree of Inheritance, he had a one hundred percent success rate in creating any Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talisman that Meng Qingyi knew how to make.

It was safe to say that in the art of talisman crafting, the student had already surpassed the master.

Over the past few years, although Alchemy and his own cultivation occupied most of his time, Li Ping had still managed to create seventy or eighty Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talismans. They were split about evenly between Fire Element Blast Flame Talismans and Thunder Element "Great Thunder Talismans."

Among all the Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talismans he had mastered, these two had the greatest destructive power.

Normally, these Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talismans were Li Ping’s trump card, something he couldn’t afford to reveal. But with the Bai family facing annihilation and Bai Lin looking at him with such pleading eyes, it was hard to justify doing nothing at all.

So, Li Ping gave the man from the Bai family five Blast Flame Talismans, making sure to stress that he had bought them on the black market.

...

"Thank you for these Talismans, Elder." Feeling the faint, oppressive power emanating from the Spirit Talismans, the Qi Refining Cultivator from the Bai family broke into a smile of relief. He hadn’t expected such a sudden, favorable turn of events.

’Even though I couldn’t convince Elder Li to come himself, getting five Tier Two Middle Grade Spirit Talismans might just be enough to help the family survive this crisis!’

’Of course, the best-case scenario would still be having Elder Li himself come to Gaoji Mountain to oversee the defense.’ But seeing Li Ping’s firm attitude, he knew it was impossible and didn’t press the matter further.

He immediately said with great respect, "Elder Li, I will take my leave. The Bai family will be sure to reward you generously in the future."

With that, he turned to leave.

But just then, Bai Lin cried out, "Sixth Uncle, I’m going back with you!"

The Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator from the Bai family froze, stunned. He then heard Bai Lin speak again, though this time she wasn’t talking to him, but to Li Ping.

With her eyes red and tear-filled, Bai Lin looked at Li Ping. "Sir, I want to go back to Gaoji Mountain. Is it alright if I come back after the beast tide is over?"

Li Ping’s gaze fell upon her face. He saw her stubborn expression, her eyes filled with anticipation.

After a long moment, he simply sighed softly and nodded. "Alright. Be careful on your way."

"Th-thank you, Sir." Bai Lin fought to hold back her tears. The moment she finished speaking and turned away, she could no longer contain her sorrow, and tears began to fall like rain.

...

Bai Lin was gone.

Li Ping hadn’t tried to stop her because he knew it would have been pointless.

His rational analysis concluded that Gaoji Mountain had hundreds of Cultivators and an Ancestor at the Foundation Establishment Stage. As long as the Bai family’s Ancestor wasn’t an idiot, he could use the five Blast Flame Talismans to concentrate their firepower, pick off the Demon Beasts one by one, and kill at least two of the Tier Two beasts.

Gaoji Mountain should be in no real danger.

But with her family and friends on Gaoji Mountain facing the constant threat of death, her judgment was clouded by worry. Would she really have listened to Li Ping’s rational analysis?

Unless he was willing to tie her up to stop her, Li Ping had no other choice.

As for going to Gaoji Mountain himself, that was completely out of the question.

’Five Tier Two Demon Beasts showing up at Gaoji Mountain... This beast tide seems unusually severe,’ Li Ping thought to himself.

Then, he thought of Master Hu, who had left town. A strange idea suddenly occurred to him. ’He couldn’t have known about the beast tide beforehand and decided to pack up and run, could he? What kind of friend runs away without inviting me to come along?’

...

From a great distance, a figure watched as the Late-stage Qi Refining cultivator and Bai Lin were met by the Bai family’s Ancestor and safely brought inside the Array.

Dressed in black robes, Guardian Yan couldn’t help but curse out loud. "He took their Spirit Wood, took their daughter, reaped all the benefits, but when their family faces annihilation, he won’t even help? Is he even human? He made me wait all these days for nothing! That animal! A complete animal!"

But after venting his anger, he had no choice but to leave. He didn’t have time to keep waiting around.
