Chapter 77: 第76章 土鳖?_1
Outside the office door.
Wang Qing had been shooed out by Li Mengqing the moment Lin Wanyu started explaining, but he didn’t dare breathe a word of complaint.
He’d caught just enough of Lin Wanyu’s opening sentence to hear something earth-shattering.
This Mr. Gao — he was the second-largest shareholder of Lin Group.
Wang Qing had once seen his boss personally escort a middle-aged man around the showroom to pick out a car. Word was that man was the chairman of Lin Group — a billionaire heavyweight. And now, sitting in his office, was Lin Group’s second-largest shareholder.
In an instant, Wang Qing snapped his attitude back into shape.
The office door swung open.
Wang Qing deliberately paused a beat before stepping back inside.
By now, he no longer carried himself like the man who owned the place. His face was a picture of deference, every movement careful and measured.
The moment he watched Gao Yuan sign his name on the contract and press his thumbprint, Wang Qing was right there with a pre-moistened wipe.
With that, the paperwork was done. The car was officially his.
All follow-up services would be handled by Xingbao House, and the complimentary perks that came with the purchase far exceeded anything that came with a regular luxury vehicle.
Contracts signed and sealed, Wang Qing led the group back out to the car.
Someone had already dressed the area around it with balloons and flowers — Wang Qing had quietly arranged that while he was waiting outside. He wanted Gao Yuan’s handover to feel like an occasion.
Taking in the scene, Gao Yuan’s mind drifted back to the mission the system had just issued.
[Ding! Charming Uncle — Heartbreaker Mission Unlocked.]
[Mission]: Post to Moments and tag an ex-girlfriend. Get at least 1 ex-girlfriend to come crawling back.
[Mission Reward 1]: High-tier Enhancement Card.
[Mission Reward 2]: 5 EXP.
[Note: Host may choose to enhance a physical object or a specific body part.]
Classic. The system basically just wanted him to show off.
As for getting at least one ex to come crawling — Gao Yuan figured that was practically a non-issue.
Zhang Ke. They’d only just broken up. Might as well get one last bit of use out of her.
But what really had his attention was the Enhancement Card. It could strengthen a body part.
His first thought? His kidneys.
With this many women around, his kidneys were starting to feel the heat. A gun could be polished to a shine, but without bullets, it wasn’t killing anything.
"How about we take some photos?"
Gao Yuan floated the idea himself.
If he was going to post to Moments and get his ex crawling back, he needed to show the world just how much had changed. And what better way to do that than a luxury car and a gorgeous woman on each arm?
"Yes! But I want Gege to take them personally."
Lin Wanyu was more than happy — Gao Yuan had taken great shots of her last time. Li Mengqing nodded along beside her.
"President Wang, we’d like to take a few photos."
Gao Yuan had figured a quick phone shoot would do the job — the showroom lighting was decent enough. But no sooner had Wang Qing said a word to one of his sales staff than a crew of employees appeared rolling in a set of studio flash lights, followed by a photographer with a DSLR slung over his shoulder.
Well, damn.
Gao Yuan shot Wang Qing a thumbs-up.
The man had his head screwed on right. A full professional setup, just like that.
Sure, older clients might not care much about commemorative photos when picking up a car. But anyone even slightly younger always showed up with a date in tow. This kind of setup was made for moments like these — and it left one hell of an impression.
When clients shared those photos, it was word-of-mouth advertising for Xingbao House at the same time.
Gao Yuan waved Wang Qing over and murmured a few words in his ear.
Wang Qing walked straight over to the photographer and took the camera out of his hands.
A moment later.
The lights were in position. Gao Yuan raised the Canon 5D Mark IV and fired off a casual test shot of the car.
Then he quickly dialed in the settings and adjusted the angle and position of the lights.
Another test shot. This time, he was satisfied.
For the next hour, Gao Yuan worked the camera without stopping, snapping shot after shot.
At one point, he had the showroom lights killed entirely, letting the flash units carve deep shadows and create a brooding, cinematic atmosphere.
He positioned Lin Wanyu and Li Mengqing in the rear seats of the Brabus G900, the two of them leaning into each other — one an aloof goddess, the other a girl-next-door warmth. The contrast was perfect.
Gao Yuan pressed the shutter.
The result was stunning. The Brabus’s raw, imposing presence — fierce and impossibly cool — blended seamlessly with the two women’s breathtaking looks. The finished shot hit like a punch straight to the brain.
For the final frame, all three of them posed together.
Gao Yuan leaned into the shot with a rakish, devil-may-care energy — an arm around each woman, embodying that unshackled, live-it-up spirit that belonged to youth in its prime.
When the shoot wrapped and Gao Yuan went to copy the files, the crowd that had gathered in the showroom burst into murmured conversation about him.
Handsome. Tall. Loaded. And he could take photos like that? The man was practically perfect.
In that moment, everyone conveniently overlooked the slight paunch around his midsection. With everything else he had going on, that could easily be filed under "distinguished."
Once the photos were sorted, Gao Yuan didn’t rush to post. First, he re-added the contact he’d deleted — Zhang Ke.
She accepted instantly.
He ignored the question mark she sent and went straight to Moments, setting the post to visible only to Zhang Ke.
[Picked up the new ride today. Ugh — takes 98 octane, and the tank is massive!]
He made sure to tag Zhang Ke in the caption.
Sure enough.
A string of messages from Zhang Ke hit his phone in rapid succession.
"Gao Yuan, did you buy a Mercedes G-Class?"
"Nothing actually happened between me and President Qiao, he’s just been chasing me."
"Gao Yuan, I still love you. Can we get back together?"
"..."
Reading Zhang Ke’s messages, Gao Yuan felt genuinely good.
From posting the mission to completing it — less than half an hour.
"Babe, that’s a Brabus G900."
"Can’t even tell your luxury cars apart. Honestly, you’re not even qualified to be a gold digger."
Out of respect for the system reward, Gao Yuan fired back two lines, then blocked and deleted Zhang Ke for good.
On her end, Zhang Ke — still clinging to some shred of hope — saw his replies, swallowed her fury, and sent what she considered an irresistibly seductive voice message. What she got back was a red exclamation mark.
That absolutely set her off. She grabbed her things and stormed out, headed straight for Gao Yuan’s place in Navi City.
Back at Xingbao House.
The three of them returned to the Brabus G900.
Gao Yuan peeled the protective dust film off the seats himself, then climbed in.
He pulled up the Enhancement Card the system had just rewarded him and activated it.
But he didn’t enhance his kidneys. Instead, he chose his immune system.
The human body was a whole — more intricate than the finest machine ever built. Pumping one part up while the rest lagged behind would throw everything off balance, and the cost wouldn’t be worth the gain.
In a world with its fair share of risks, a stronger immune system seemed like the smarter call. Fewer sick days. Fewer complications.
And maybe — just maybe — a solid defense against a certain category of unwanted diseases.
Enhancement complete. Gao Yuan felt like a new man.
He glanced at Lin Wanyu in the rearview mirror, and a slow, devious smile spread across his face.
If he remembered right, Lin Wanyu’s visitor from Auntie had just packed up and left.
He reined in his excitement.
With Wang Qing cheerfully directing traffic, Gao Yuan fired up the beast, eased it carefully through a row of high-end cars, and guided the Brabus G900 out of the showroom.
Under the brilliant afternoon sun, the Brabus G900 crouched before Xingbao House like a massive predator at rest — every passerby who laid eyes on it, every onlooker drifting out of the showroom, wore the same expression: pure, undisguised envy.
This wasn’t just a car.
This was the ultimate fantasy.
For most people, a car like this only existed in TikTok videos — something to scroll past and dream about. For Gao Yuan, the dream had just pulled up to the curb.
He had once been one of those people. The only reason he was sitting behind that wheel now was the system.
And the woman sitting in the back seat — Lin Wanyu.
His partnership with Lin Group was mutually beneficial by any measure. When you traced it back, this car was really Lin Hongnian’s gift to his daughter.
But Lin Wanyu’s first thought had been Gao Yuan.
That was just how women worked. When they loved you, they gave without thinking twice.
As long as she felt it was worth it — the world was in order.
...
The Brabus G900 rolled to a stop at the entrance of No.1 Courtyard’s underground garage. Behind it came Lin Wanyu’s NIO ET5, driven back by one of Wang Qing’s staff.
The security guard at No.1 Courtyard stared at the absurdly commanding G-Class and reached for his walkie-talkie to report in to the security center.
Gao Yuan wasn’t in any rush. He’d already notified the property manager and sorted out the parking situation with Xiao Xiao.
The barrier lifted. With a crisp salute from the guard, both cars rolled down into the garage.
The spot Gao Yuan pulled into was Xiao Xiao’s. He didn’t particularly care how many spaces she had — he needed one, he had one, that was good enough.
Car parked. All three stepped out.
As luck would have it, the spot right next to them held a Mercedes-Benz G500.
The two of them sitting side by side — it really did look like a father and son.
