Chapter 357: Chapter 328: Egg of the Old World, the Four Realms of a Saint
Immediately after, streaks of sword light swept across the battlefield, cutting down the remaining upper echelons of the Beastmen one by one.
Only after finishing all this did Anton retract his Sword Pill and Guardian Divine Generals.
The upper echelons of the Silver Moon Race exchanged glances, their faces breaking into joyous smiles. Then, they couldn’t help but look at Anton’s figure with deep emotion.
They had believed in their Clan Leader’s victory from the very beginning. But belief was one thing; witnessing a Saint fall before their very eyes was another. The shock of it still resonated, making it difficult to calm their minds.
After all, a Saint stood at the apex of the Dawn Continent’s power hierarchy—a height countless factions could only gaze upon for a lifetime, never daring to touch.
And yet, their own Clan Leader had personally struck such an existence down from the heavens.
The battle within the city was also drawing to a close.
While Anton and the others were fighting, the Silver Moon Legion had mobilized. They joined forces with the Alien Race armies and the Daoist Soldier Corps to completely crush the Beastman garrison in the city.
Anton’s gaze swept over the ravaged Steelmane City. He issued orders to the Clan’s upper echelons, "Leave a portion of our forces to clean up the battlefield, take control of the city, and tally the spoils. The rest of the army will board the three Feiyao Flying Towers and, at top speed, seize the Steel Mane Tribe’s other strategic strongholds and resource points in the Thundering River Basin. Don’t give them any chance to recover."
"Yes, Clan Leader."
After receiving their orders, everyone dispersed and got to work.
The hatches of the Feiyao Flying Towers opened once again. Squads of Elf soldiers and Alien Race troops filed aboard, the metallic clang of armor and the sound of boots on gangways echoing through the ruins.
Anton didn’t linger. His figure transformed into a streak of Profound Gold Sword Light and shot into the sky, vanishing into the northern horizon in an instant.
「By the time he returned to Taichu City, twilight had fallen.」
Anton walked straight through the corridors of the Ninefold Celestial Tower and returned to his meditation chamber. He sat cross-legged on a prayer mat, then took out the two Space Rings to begin inventorying his spoils.
Most of the Steel Mane Tribe’s resources should have been stored in their warehouses.
But the truly good stuff was most likely carried by their Chief, Uerk.
However, after taking stock, Anton was somewhat disappointed.
Uerk’s Space Ring indeed contained a lot of items.
Rare ores, Magic Stones, medicinal herbs, and Magic items were piled high, enough to make a small faction green with envy for a long time.
But there wasn’t a single treasure that could truly catch his eye.
Then again, at his current level, items that could truly impress him were rare indeed.
Anton then picked up Ska’s Space Ring and probed it with his Divine Sense.
It was also filled with all sorts of rare materials, of an even higher grade than Uerk’s.
But after a full sweep, Anton still didn’t find anything that caught his eye. However, one particular item did pique his interest.
It was an object that looked like a stone.
It was no larger than a fist, a gentle, grayish-white color. Its surface was covered with layers of cloud-like patterns, as if it were wrapped repeatedly in several layers of fine gauze.
It was cool to the touch, like holding a ball of solidified morning mist.
Through the translucent patterns, he could faintly make out a blurry silhouette inside, its limbs curled up, exuding an indescribable ancient serenity.
Anton held the stone in his palm and studied it for a moment. He then tried to probe it with a wisp of his Divine Sense and quickly detected an extremely faint life pulse.
His eyebrows twitched slightly as understanding dawned on him.
’This isn’t a stone at all. It’s clearly an egg.’
Combining this with the cloud patterns on its surface, Anton immediately recognized its origin.
"The Egg of the Old World..."
The so-called Egg of the Old World was actually an egg laid by a certain Divine Creature in ancient times. Buried deep within rock strata, it had luckily survived through long geological changes to the present day.
Records of this item’s appearance in the modern era of the Dawn Continent were extremely rare.
In Anton’s memory, it was only after the outbreak of the Undead Calamity that a few Eggs of the Old World were unearthed one after another.
He had no idea where Ska had managed to get his hands on it.
"Now this is a good find."
Anton’s eyes lit up slightly.
As long as he injected a sufficiently vast amount of Life Force into the Egg of the Old World, he could revive it and hatch the Divine Creature within.
One had to know that an adult Divine Creature was, at a minimum, a Saint-tier existence—extremely powerful.
If he could raise a Divine Creature, it would be a huge boost to both his own strength and the foundation of the Silver Moon Race.
Anton placed the egg into his Qiankun Bag, planning to study how to infuse it with Life Force once he had some free time.
After that, he put away the two Space Rings and began to review the day’s battle.
Strictly speaking, his fight with Ska today was his first true battle against a Saint.
His previous clash with the Gale Wing Dragon couldn’t fully demonstrate the gap between himself and a Saint, because the dragon was injured and its combat power was significantly reduced.
The "Saint" in Saint was, in essence, about "Sanctification."
They had completely integrated the Laws they mastered into their souls and flesh, making them a part of their very being.
To a Saint, Law was no longer an external force that needed to be invoked; it was as natural as breathing. They could even begin to influence the world around them.
On the Dawn Continent, Saints could be roughly divided into four realms.
The first realm is the Sanctification Realm.
Saints in this realm have already fused with their Law, greatly increasing their precision in controlling it and allowing them to weakly influence their surroundings.
The heavily injured Gale Wing Dragon from before, and Ska from today, were both at this level.
Although it is the lowest realm of the Saint Tier, a being in the Sanctification Realm can easily defeat several peak Legends.
It would take at least a dozen peak Legends working together to even pose a threat.
Above that is the Resonance Realm.
Saints in this realm can establish a stable resonance with the elemental source or world principles corresponding to their mastered Law. This allows them to actively listen to the network of Laws flowing through the world, using that resonance to continuously amplify their own Law’s power.
And the third realm is the Apex of Saints.
If the power increase for Saints in the first two realms is essentially about enhancing the influence of their Law on the world...
...then the Apex of Saints is about "rewriting" the world.
They can make the laws of nature within a certain area temporarily operate according to their will.
For example, an empty field can turn to scorched earth in an instant, a patch of scorched earth can suddenly sprout ice flowers, and flames can burn even more fiercely in the rain... the examples are endless.
But this rewriting is only temporary.
Once the Saint’s will is withdrawn, the surrounding environment will return to its original state.
Even so, this "reality-level" suppression is enough to make the power of an Apex Saint far surpass that of the previous two realms.
A battle between Apex Saints is often described as "a collision of two world Laws."
To an Apex Saint, peak Legends are no different from ants.
No matter how many peak Legends there are, they cannot pose any threat to an Apex Saint.
Even those in the Sanctification or Resonance Realms often need to join forces just to barely contend with an Apex Saint.
And further above that is the Divine Realm.
When a Saint condenses a seed of divinity within their body, they cross into this final realm.
By their will alone, they can manifest a domain around themselves completely filled with their own Law, far surpassing the level of Law interference achievable by a Legend or a Saint in the Sanctification Realm.
Within that domain, lower-level Laws are repelled or even suppressed, becoming almost completely ineffective.
Those in the Divine Realm are currently the absolute top-tier combatants on the Dawn Continent.
One step further, and they can set foot in the Demigod Realm.
Anton estimated his own true combat strength to be somewhere in the Sanctification Realm.
Not at the top, more like the middle-to-lower end of the spectrum.
With the addition of his twelve Guardian Divine Generals, killing a Saint in the Sanctification Realm was not a problem.
He could even hold his own against someone in the Resonance Realm.
Even if winning would be difficult, he could protect himself.
But once he advances to the Nascent Soul Stage, even just at the initial entry, his combat power would be at least at the Resonance Realm, and could possibly even reach the Apex of Saints.
"The Nascent Soul Stage..."
Anton let out a long breath, gathered his thoughts, and closed his eyes to begin cultivating.
’I need to complete the Nine Times of Fetal Breathing as soon as possible, so I can start tempering my state of mind.’
