Chapter 1015: Chapter 1013 Mutated Animals Acquired 4
Unlike Bell, whose abilities leaned heavily toward raw offense, Zeus possessed a far more balanced set of stats and skills. That was also the reason Bell was generally considered stronger in direct combat.
But in situations like this, Zeus’s balanced abilities proved just how formidable it could be.
"Wow! Sister, that dog is really strong!" Ethan gasped in shock.
Even though the mutated rhinoceros was far larger than Zeus, the dog wasn’t pushed back at all. Instead, the moment Zeus rammed its head into the rhinoceros’s massive foot, the beast suddenly froze in place.
For five whole seconds, the enormous creature couldn’t move.
It stood there like a statue, bound by an invisible force, only able to let out an enraged roar. Its earlier stagger backward seemed to be nothing more than the delayed effect of Zeus’s crushing blow.
Now it was like a sitting duck in the open.
Zeus didn’t waste the opportunity.
With ruthless precision, it immediately charged again and slammed its head into the rhinoceros’s other front foot. The impact was brutal. A loud crack echoed as the second foot gave way.
Unable to support its own massive weight anymore, the mutated rhinoceros collapsed forward, both of its front legs buckling. The gigantic mutated animals dropped into a kneeling position right in front of Zeus, its front legs already fractured.
But that wasn’t all.
Aside from the "Stun" that had frozen its body earlier, the rhinoceros was still suffering from the effects of the "Sonic Wave." It had taken the attack head-on, and now it felt as though its brain was vibrating violently inside its skull, as if it might burst at any moment.
The creature was clearly in great pain.
It didn’t take long before foam began spilling from its mouth. Its massive body trembled and twitched uncontrollably before its eyes rolled back, and it finally lost consciousness.
The once terrifying mutated rhinoceros collapsed helplessly onto the ground.
Seeing this, Kisha was also amazed at how quickly Zeus had dealt with the mutated rhinoceros. At that moment, she couldn’t help but realize that all the zombie cores she had fed it were definitely not wasted.
A bright smile spread across her face.
Still hovering in the air, Kisha slowly drifted closer to the unconscious mutated rhinoceros. Meanwhile, Zeus cautiously approached the fallen mutated animal and began sniffing it, trying to determine whether it was truly knocked out or already dead.
The usually confident dog even looked a little nervous.
After all, Kisha had just reminded it not to kill its opponent. If it had accidentally killed the rhinoceros, it knew it would definitely get into trouble.
Because of that, Zeus didn’t even dare celebrate its victory. It simply stood there, tense and alert, waiting.
Only when Kisha’s feet finally touched the ground did it relax slightly, watching as she walked toward the massive mutated rhinoceros to check on it herself.
"Good boy! You did a great job!" Kisha praised Zeus warmly.
Normally, Zeus would have already jumped around wildly in excitement, circling her again and again to proudly show off its achievement. But this time, it only took a few cautious steps back, its posture slightly stiff as if it was afraid it might get reprimanded instead.
Seeing this, Kisha couldn’t help but chuckle.
With a gentle wave of her hand, she used her telekinesis to lift the unconscious mutated rhinoceros off the ground. As its body rose into the air, it slowly shrank back to its original size. Even then, the creature was still quite large, though no longer as monstrous as before.
Carefully, Kisha drew the floating rhinoceros closer so she could inspect it properly.
After checking it over for a moment, she finally confirmed that it was still breathing.
Only then did she let out a small sigh of relief before turning to reassure Zeus.
"Don’t worry," she said with a soft smile. "It’s not dead. It just passed out from the pain."
"Really? Really?!" Zeus immediately jumped up in excitement, its tail wagging wildly like a spinning propeller.
"See, Master?! Zeus is great, right?! Right?!"
Now that its worry had completely disappeared, Zeus returned to its usual carefree and silly attitude. It happily circled around Kisha, jumping and bouncing like an overexcited puppy.
Kisha could only chuckle at its antics.
Although Ethan couldn’t hear Zeus through the mental link or understand what it was saying, the dog’s excitement was obvious. Zeus’s tongue hung out of its mouth as it wagged its tail nonstop, clearly waiting for even more praise after accomplishing its task so easily.
Honestly, Ethan himself was still dumbfounded.
Zeus had defeated the mutated rhinoceros with shocking ease, while he, a fire-awakened ability user, hadn’t even managed to graze the creature’s hide before running away.
Thinking about it now, Ethan felt so embarrassed that he wished he could dig a hole and hide inside it.
At the same time, however, he couldn’t help but feel amazed.
His little sister actually had such a terrifyingly strong battle pet.
Just imagining it made him shudder. If he had received the same head-on slam that Zeus delivered to the rhinoceros, his bones would probably shatter on the spot. It might even kill him instantly.
And honestly, Ethan wasn’t wrong.
Zeus’s stats were actually more than four times higher than Ethan’s. If Zeus ever slammed into him with that kind of force, Ethan might very well be sent straight to heaven in a single hit.
At this point, Ethan felt that following Kisha around might only make him a burden. Because of that, he didn’t recklessly rush into trouble anymore. Instead, he simply walked beside her, acting as her lookout while she handled things.
After Kisha finished tying up the mutated rhinoceros with thick ropes, just like she had done with the mutated black wolf and the mutated porcupine earlier, Ethan quietly moved away again.
However, he didn’t go too far.
He only ran far enough to give Kisha space to deal with things on her own, making sure he wouldn’t accidentally drag more trouble back to her.
Since Ethan was being so considerate and keeping his distance, Kisha no longer needed to be overly cautious.
With a casual wave of her hand, she stored the unconscious mutated rhinoceros inside her territory space, leaving it under Mike’s care.
By now, Mike was already busy trying to tame the first two mutated animals she had sent over. When the newly captured rhinoceros appeared inside the territory space, Mike first checked its condition.
After confirming that it had merely passed out from the injuries and shock, he decided to leave it alone for the time being and let it wake up naturally.
For now, his attention remained focused on the mutated black wolf and the mutated porcupine.
Both creatures were still struggling fiercely. The wolf growled while the porcupine squealed nervously, clearly frightened after suddenly being brought into an unfamiliar place while tied up and unable to move.
Even though they had mutated and grown much stronger, they still carried their wild instincts.
And fear was their natural response.
Mike understood that very well.
Mike first tried to build familiarity with the two mutated animals by calmly standing in front of them. Thanks to his ’Talent: Animal Care’, he naturally emitted a gentle and comforting aura that animals could sense. Around him, they would feel a warm, reassuring presence, almost as if he were a mother figure they could trust.
At the same time, his ’Gift: Fostering’ helped him slowly bridge the gap between himself and the mutated creatures, making it easier for them to accept his presence.
Patiently, Mike inched closer little by little.
Gradually, the mutated black wolf stopped growling, and the porcupine’s nervous squealing also began to quiet down. Although both animals were still wary, their hostility had noticeably lessened.
Seeing this, Mike decided not to push further for the moment.
Instead, he quietly stepped away.
The sudden disappearance of that warm and familiar aura left the two mutated animals confused. They had just begun to grow accustomed to that comforting feeling, and now that it was gone, they felt strangely uneasy, almost as if they wanted to look for it again.
Not long after, Mike returned.
This time, however, he came back carrying food. In one arm, he held a whole fresh chicken, while in the other, he carried a large, crisp cabbage.
After all, the first step of establishing familiarity had already been completed.
Now it was time for the second step.
Food.
There was hardly anything more effective than food when it came to winning someone over. As the saying goes, ’the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.’
And as far as Mike was concerned, the same principle worked just as well on animals.
After fetching the food, Mike slowly walked closer to the two mutated animals.
As soon as he approached, both the mutated black wolf and the mutated porcupine let out low warning growls. Their bodies were tense, their instincts still telling them to be wary of the unfamiliar human before them.
