Chapter 1019: Chapter 1017 Mutated Animals Acquired 8
A strange pressure weighed down on her body as her strength noticeably weakened.
Twenty percent of her stats had been reduced in an instant.
Beside her, Ethan felt the effect even more severely.
His body suddenly became sluggish and unbearably heavy, as if someone had thrown a hundred-kilogram weight across his shoulders. His knees nearly buckled as the oppressive force dragged at his limbs.
For a moment, he even felt like collapsing into the ground, like his entire body wanted to melt into a helpless puddle.
But even under the effects of the ’Battle Cry’ debuff, Bell didn’t seem particularly affected.
The tiny bee continued darting through the air, buzzing around the mutated Golden Eagle with incredible speed, its movements sharp and unpredictable.
Then—
Screech—!
The mutated Golden Eagle cried out again in fury as another feather was struck loose and drifted down from the sky.
Seeing this, Kisha couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for the creature.
If this fight continued much longer, the once-majestic eagle might end up completely bald.
From what she could see, Bell seemed to be deliberately targeting the eagle’s wings. It was probably trying to cripple the bird’s ability to fly so it wouldn’t be able to escape later.
Still, what surprised Kisha the most was something else.
She hadn’t expected Bell’s forelegs to be sharp enough to cut through the Golden Eagle’s feathers. Those feathers looked almost metallic, strong enough to act like blades themselves.
Yet Bell had managed to slice them cleanly.
Which could only mean one thing.
Bell’s forelegs were even sharper and more destructive than the eagle’s blade-like wings.
And that realization made Kisha’s eyes gleam with a hint of excitement.
But the eagle clearly wasn’t going to endure the humiliation quietly.
SCREECH—!!!
The mutated Golden Eagle let out another furious screech as it suddenly drew its massive wings back.
Then it struck.
With a powerful wingbeat, it activated its skill, ’Whirlwind’.
Three violent tornadoes instantly formed in the air, spiraling forward and rushing straight toward Bell.
And since Kisha and Ethan were standing directly below the battlefield, it was obvious that they would be caught in the attack as well.
"Shit!" Kisha cursed.
Without hesitation, she pulled dozens of enhanced daggers from her inventory. With a flick of her will, her telekinesis took hold of them, and the blades rose into the air around her like a swarm of steel.
She quickly stepped backward until Zeus and Ethan were positioned behind her.
Then she moved the daggers.
The floating blades spread out and formed a tight defensive ring around the three of them. The blades shifted closer together, weaving into a rotating shield of metal, leaving only a small gap so Kisha could see what was happening outside.
Even so, her mind wasn’t on her own safety.
She was worried about Bell.
The tiny bee was so small compared to the monstrous whirlwind roaring toward it. No matter how powerful Bell was, those spiraling storms were not something to take lightly.
But the Golden Eagle wasn’t finished.
With another violent flap of its wings, it unleashed several ’Wind Blades’, sending the razor-sharp attacks straight into the raging whirlwinds.
The spinning storms immediately became even more destructive.
Wind blades whirled inside the tornadoes like countless spinning knives.
Seeing this, Kisha felt her heart leap into her throat.
"Bell!" Kisha croaked, her voice tight with worry as she looked up.
High above, Bell struggled against the violent winds, its tiny transparent wings beating furiously as it fought to stay airborne. Compared to the massive whirlwinds tearing through the sky, the little bee looked almost pitifully small.
Kisha’s instinct screamed at her to jump into the fight and confront the mutated Golden Eagle herself.
But before she could act, Bell’s voice echoed through their mind link.
"Master, I’m fine. Leave this to me..."
Hearing that, Kisha froze.
If she interfered now, it might shatter Bell’s confidence. This was Bell’s battle, and stepping in too early could make it feel as though she didn’t trust its strength.
Still, that didn’t stop the worry twisting in her chest.
She bit down on her lower lip as she continued watching the sky.
Slowly, she guided Ethan and Zeus backward, step by careful step. The spinning daggers surrounding them continued rotating like a protective shield as they moved farther away from the center of the battlefield.
She needed to get them out of the danger zone.
Not only to keep them safe, but also to make sure Bell wouldn’t be distracted by worrying about them.
Once they were far enough away, Bell would have more space to maneuver and fight freely without holding back.
"Sister... are you really leaving that monstrous eagle for your bee to deal with?" Ethan murmured uneasily. "It might get eaten."
He couldn’t see anything outside. The spinning daggers surrounding them formed a tight barrier, blocking both light and sight, so all he could do was follow Kisha’s instructions and step backward slowly, one careful step at a time.
Kisha kept her gaze fixed upward through the small opening she had left in the shield.
"Bell is strong," she said calmly. "And size isn’t everything."
She paused for a moment before adding,
"I trust that my Bell is stronger than that mutated Golden Eagle." But despite the confidence in her voice, a trace of worry still lingered deep inside her heart.
So Kisha could only watch in silence.
The tornadoes battered Bell relentlessly as the ’Wind Blades’ hidden inside the spiraling storms struck it one after another. Each time a blade connected, Bell’s small body swayed and staggered in midair.
Fortunately, Bell’s defense was slightly higher than the mutated Golden Eagle’s attack power. The strikes didn’t truly injure it, but that didn’t mean the impacts were painless.
After being hit repeatedly, Bell could no longer maintain its steady flight. It wobbled in the air and dropped several feet, looking battered as the raging winds and hidden blades continued to slash through the storm around it.
Seeing this, Kisha felt her heart ache.
Her little Bell was suffering.
But Bell refused to give up.
With a sharp buzz, it beat its wings faster, forcing its way through the violent air currents. In the blink of an eye, it shot out of the whirlwind and sped directly toward the mutated Golden Eagle.
Using its incredible agility, Bell suddenly curved through the air and appeared behind the giant bird.
Then it struck.
Because of its enormous size, the mutated Golden Eagle wasn’t nearly as nimble in the air. It didn’t have enough time to react, and its back was a natural blind spot. The eagle never expected the tiny insect to appear there so suddenly.
Bell’s forelegs flashed.
The next moment—
SCREECH—!!!
The mutated Golden Eagle let out another ear-piercing cry as Bell’s attack landed. Its massive body shuddered, staggering slightly in the sky as if it might fall.
But the creature was simply too large.
Compared to its enormous body, Bell’s strike was little more than a thin scratch across its hide.
But Bell’s strength lay in its agility, and it knew a single strike wouldn’t be enough.
The moment the mutated Golden Eagle tried to regain its balance, Bell darted after it, once again slipping into the bird’s blind spot.
Then it struck again.
And again.
And again.
Bell’s forelegs flashed rapidly as it delivered a relentless barrage of attacks, each strike carving another thin line across the eagle’s back. At first, the wounds were shallow, nothing more than scratches.
But they kept piling up.
Before long, Bell finally broke through the eagle’s defenses. Blood began to spurt from the wounds spreading across its back.
The sudden, searing pain made the mutated Golden Eagle shriek in fury. It desperately tried to twist its massive body in midair to shake Bell off and defend itself.
But turning such a gigantic body in flight was far easier said than done.
Its movements were slow and clumsy compared to Bell’s lightning-fast agility.
No matter how it twisted, Bell was always one step ahead.
From below, Kisha watched as the enormous eagle struggled in the air, its body tilting more and more as it tried to rotate.
Then suddenly—
The giant creature lost its balance.
Its wings faltered.
And the mutated Golden Eagle began to plummet toward the ground.
BOOM!
The impact sent a massive cloud of dust erupting into the air.
Kisha quickly tightened the ring of spinning daggers around them, closing the gaps so the dust wouldn’t blast into their faces.
"What happened?" Ethan asked nervously from behind the barrier. "That sounded like something huge hitting the ground."
Kisha stared toward the dust cloud, still trying to process what she had just witnessed.
"Um..." she said slowly.
"I think... Bell won?"
Kisha waited a little longer until the dust began to settle.
Only then did she widen the opening in the ring of rotating daggers surrounding them.
Through the gap, she finally saw what had happened.
