Chapter 439: Chapter 437: Deepsea Bone-Worm
After getting off the train from The Frigid World back to Nightfall Citadel, a Smoke Person from the station drifted over and asked, "Guests, it’s lunchtime. Would you care for a meal?"
Faye Yardley remembered the restaurant in the food court that only sold set meals—the kind that boosted your Attributes. Her smile widened, and she took out a silver coin, discreetly slipping it into the Smoke Person’s hand. "Please take us to your most unique restaurant."
The Smoke Person, whose features were indistinct, was clearly in a better mood after receiving the silver coin. "This way, guests."
Master Veridian was a bit out of it, and had to be pulled along by Cole Kensington and Zephyr Sterling the whole way.
Ethan Yardley, holding Lucy White by the back of her collar, followed his sister and the Smoke Person toward the food court.
The food court was bustling with noise, the enticing aroma of food hanging everywhere. The group followed the Smoke Person, turning left and right until they arrived at a restaurant with dingy-looking walls tucked away in the corner of a small alley.
"This is the place, guests. A specialty restaurant. I guarantee you’ll be satisfied."
"Thank you for showing us the way."
The Smoke Person was obviously in a cheerful mood, said it was no trouble, and then turned to leave.
Lucy White looked up at the unremarkable restaurant, but through the clear glass, she could see it was packed with customers.
"Sister, there are still wiggling worms on the plates. Will they really taste good?"
Faye Yardley smiled. "Come on. We’ll know once we go in and try some."
The group of six requested a small private room. This was an Octopoid-run restaurant, and it strongly recommended a variety of delicious dishes made from octopus.
The Master suddenly spoke up, asking the waiter, "I saw other customers order a dish with moving worms earlier. What is it?"
The waiter’s smile grew wider. "An excellent eye, guest. That is our specialty, the Deepsea Bone-Worm. Would you care to order a portion?"
"How much?" Zephyr Sterling felt it was best to ask first. If it was too expensive and they couldn’t afford it, there was no telling what price they’d have to pay.
"Guest, it’s only 16 gold coins per serving."
Faye Yardley asked, "How many people does one serving feed?"
"Just one person, naturally. How many servings would you like?"
"Then let’s have three servings of the Deepsea Bone-Worm for now. We can order more later if we want, right?"
The Octopoid waiter nodded happily. "Of course, but the number of servings ordered cannot exceed the number of guests."
Faye Yardley took the menu and ordered one of every specialty dish.
The total came to 166 gold coins, and they also received a complimentary serving of the restaurant’s special takoyaki.
Zephyr Sterling felt he wouldn’t be able to split the bill for this meal. ’What can I use to pay for my share when we get back?’ he was already thinking.
"Hurry up and eat. Try this Deepsea Bone-Worm first."
Faye Yardley couldn’t help but think of the deepsea waterweeds she had harvested before. ’They both have ’deepsea’ in the name,’ she thought, ’so it should be good, right?’
Even though it was still moving, Faye Yardley picked one up with her chopsticks, screwed up her courage, closed her eyes, and popped it into her mouth.
Unexpectedly, it was satisfyingly crunchy and had a light, sweet flavor, similar to a snow pear.
The three plates were quickly devoured by the six of them. Faye Yardley went ahead and ordered another three plates.
After they had finished eating, everyone except Lucy White and Cole Kensington received a system notification.

After they had swept the other dishes clean, they happily heard the system’s notification sound again.

Ethan Yardley wiped his mouth and patted his stomach. "This meal was so worth it. It saved me so much time in bitter training."
Zephyr Sterling nodded in agreement.
"Yardley, it’s about time. We’re going to head back first. What about you?"
Her Rare Island Entry Order allowed her to stay at the destination for ten days, and Faye Yardley had no intention of wasting it.
"I’m going to stay and have some fun. It’s different from coming here during an event. You don’t have to worry about me; there are no mandatory quests. I can just avoid the dangerous attractions." Faye Yardley said, looking at her brother. "Bro, you really don’t need to worry about me. I’m rich, I’m powerful, and I’m polite and well-mannered. I’m one of the most popular kinds of guests here."
Ethan Yardley grunted in acknowledgment. "Just don’t let anyone push you around."
"Don’t worry, don’t worry. You guys can head back without any concerns. I’ll see you out of the city first."
They had clearly just walked out of the restaurant with full stomachs, but the aroma of food wafting through the air was so tempting it made one want to loosen their belt and eat a little more, and then a little more, until their stomach burst.
Out on the main street, every stall was crowded with people, many of whom were just silently stuffing their faces.
People who could enter this food street and still maintain their sanity were truly in the minority.
Squeezing their way out of the food street, they instantly felt that the air was fresher and their minds were clearer.
Faye Yardley saw them off at the gates of Nightfall Citadel.
Under her brother and the others’ repeated warnings, Faye Yardley nodded again and again, promising she wouldn’t try any dangerous attractions.
Once they were gone, Faye Yardley grabbed a passing Smoke Person and, after asking some questions, learned that she could only visit The Frigid World once per day.
The time spent logged into Nightfall Citadel was cumulative, which meant she could leave for a short while and come back later.
’The attractions I tried in Nightfall Citadel last time were pretty fun,’ she mused, ’and much safer than Clown’s Amusement Park.’
Besides, visiting the island as an invited guest was truly different from visiting during an event.
She could stroll leisurely through Nightfall Citadel, and there was no compulsion to participate in any attractions she didn’t want to.
"Sister, what are we doing this afternoon? Are we just going to keep walking around?"
Faye Yardley took a stick of tanghulu from her storage ring and gave it to Lucy White. "Yep. Nightfall Citadel actually has plenty of shops and stalls. We can browse, and if we happen to find something we like, we can buy it."
As she spoke, Faye Yardley spotted a stall selling human-shaped cotton candy. She walked over, but didn’t get too close, observing it from a distance.
The raw material for the cotton candy wasn’t white sugar, but "people" who had committed crimes.
Cole Kensington even saw a member of the Piranha-folk get thrown in as raw material. A strange smile crossed his face; if Faye hadn’t been by his side, he would have wanted to go up and buy a Piranha-folk-flavored human-shaped cotton candy to try.
His branch of the Human Race had an irreconcilable feud with the Piranha-folk, but he was aware of his current situation and wouldn’t go looking for trouble.
"Hey~ Yardley! Fancy meeting you here."
Faye Yardley turned to see the lovely Catgirl, Diana Quinn, and her fiancé.
"Hello to you both. I really didn’t expect to run into you here."
Diana Quinn smiled. "Since we’ve run into each other, let’s go have some fun together. The Evernight City Tour in Nightfall Citadel is pretty interesting. We’ve already booked our spots."
Since she didn’t have any other plans anyway, Faye Yardley figured that tagging along with Diana Quinn’s group might lead to some unexpected gains, so she didn’t stand on ceremony. "In that case, we’d love to join you."
The three of them followed Diana Quinn and her fiancé onto a nearby horse-drawn carriage.
Sitting across from Diana Quinn, Faye Yardley looked at her and asked, "Is there anything we need to watch out for?"
"Don’t be so tense. It’s just a fun parade," Diana Quinn said, giving Faye Yardley a wink.
