Chapter 453: Chapter 451: Tier Six
Thunder Shock Body Tempering was definitely not something an ordinary person could withstand. Fortunately, the tingling numbness from the fine electric currents didn’t stop Faye Yardley from dodging the massive Thunder Drakes.
Eventually, in addition to dodging the Thunder Drakes, she began avoiding the smaller Lightning Drakes as well. Her body was gradually adapting; the minor currents no longer hindered her at all when they flowed through her.
She moved through the clouds with ever-increasing ease, completely in her element.
Moreover, the dark clouds around her didn’t grow thick again. Instead, their color gradually faded from black to light gray. The Thunder Drakes within them, once immeasurably wide, began to shrink and dim before slowly dissipating.
Once the clouds in the area had paled and the lightning vanished, the energy in Faye Yardley’s bamboo dragonfly seemed to run out. She immediately began to fall uncontrollably from the sky.
As she plummeted from the sky, all Faye Yardley could hear was the WHOOSH of the wind, which stung her face as it rushed past.
She made no move at first. But as she neared the surface of the sea, she began to fight for control of her body. Her movements went from simple to complex, until she could perform all sorts of actions mid-air. She even managed to stand upright and run down through the sky.
Then she tumbled, and with a huge SPLASH, Faye Yardley plunged into the sea.
Submerged in the seawater, Faye Yardley felt no discomfort. In fact, it was much better than being in the air.
She completely relaxed.
A large, ferocious fish with a gaping maw of sharp teeth charged her, intending to swallow her whole. But before it even got close, a bramble vine pierced straight through its belly and burst out from its back.
Before the large fish could even reach Faye Yardley, it was completely entangled in vines. Moments later, it was absorbed, leaving nothing behind.
Her Brambles cleared the area around Faye Yardley, determined not to let a single sea critter disturb her.
Meanwhile, Faye Yardley was a bit dazed by the barrage of system notifications.
[Constitution +2, Agility +1]
She clenched her fists. ’I’m a little unclear on the relationship between Constitution and Strength. Logically, if my Constitution increases, my Strength should automatically go up too, right? But the system display clearly shows that it doesn’t.’
’It seems every event the system creates is to make people stronger. It all just depends on how you handle it.’
’Whether you can reap the rewards depends on if you have the courage to face the difficulties... and if you dare to dream big.’
’After all, if I had just defended passively instead of actively flying into the clouds, I wouldn’t have gained nearly as much.’
She righted herself in the water and, without resuming the fight, returned directly to her raft.
She had no choice. Thanks to the efforts of Dahlia White and her sister, the sky above her was already starting to clear, the sun about to break through.
She shared her discovery with everyone on her friends list—everyone except Logan Langdon—and also posted it in a few group chats.
What they chose to do with the information was their own business.
Since Faye Yardley now had nothing to do, she soon received an invitation from Eleanor Jonas. They needed help in their part of the sea.
Faye Yardley glanced at the dull bamboo dragonfly in her hand. She stored it, took out two more, placed them in her backpack, and decisively accepted the invitation.
When she arrived at Eleanor Jonas’s raft, the dark clouds were so low it seemed she could reach up and touch them.
The flashing lightning and roaring thunder within them inspired a primal fear.
"Miss Jonas, why is it like this here...?"
’This can’t be right. Didn’t they call for reinforcements? How is it that their location seems even worse than my raft was initially?’
Eleanor Jonas smiled. "They went to help in other areas. This front isn’t completely under control yet, but the people we have stationed here are no slouches. Besides, since you mentioned it can be used for body tempering, that settled it. Everyone is even more eager to give it a try. We asked you here to trouble you with watching over the older folks, our scientists. We can’t have them getting too excited and hurting themselves."
"So you just wanted me to come over and be a babysitter, huh? Let’s get started, then. I can’t guarantee how long I’ll be able to stay."
"We’re counting on you," Eleanor Jonas said, handing her a hat. "It’s a Flying Hat. Put it on to experience the thrill of flight."
Faye Yardley took the hat, glanced at it, and put it on. It was a surprisingly good fit. She grinned. "Alright, tell them to get started."
As she spoke, Faye Yardley took an elderly woman by the arm and, with a gentle leap, shot into the clouds. She pulled the woman along, weaving in and out of the cloud layer. After about ten minutes, she asked, "Ma’am, how are you feeling? Can your body handle it?"
The old woman’s teeth were chattering, but she answered firmly, "I... can."
Since the woman said she could, Faye Yardley took her at her word. She continued guiding her, weaving between the finer bolts of lightning, never staying in one place for more than a second and always moving at high speed.
However, she could only take one person for twenty minutes at most. After that, Faye Yardley would return to the raft, switch partners, and charge back into the clouds.
Of course, not everyone waited for her to lead them. Some brave souls charged in on their own, only to get shocked stiff, fall trembling, and be carried back to the guild headquarters to recuperate.
They could only do this before 8:00 AM. After that, the lightning in all the clouds began to rain down, striking the surface incessantly.
The low-level rafts couldn’t be repaired faster than they were being destroyed.
At this point, even Eleanor Jonas didn’t dare let the researchers remain outside any longer. She had everyone quickly brought back to the guild headquarters.
Now free, Faye Yardley shot up into the clouds on her own. The smaller lightning bolts no longer affected her, so she sought out thicker, more dangerous-looking ones and flew right into them.
A constant SIZZLING sound echoed through her body.
Pain and a tingling numbness existed side-by-side.
Perhaps sensing her provocation, all the lightning began to converge on her position.
"Hee hee~ I didn’t know you were this intense."
Faye Yardley whipped around to see Dahlia White, who was now more than a little pudgy.
"Did you stuff yourself again?"
Dahlia White’s expression froze. "Hmph, of course not. You should hurry back now."
As she spoke, she suddenly floated in front of Faye Yardley. Before Faye could react, Dahlia White stuffed something like jelly into her mouth, and it slid down her throat.
Faye Yardley watched as Dahlia White visibly shrank, becoming much thinner than she was a moment ago.
One should always take good advice. Since she was told to go back, Faye Yardley didn’t argue and immediately chose to return.
By the time she returned to her raft, she had finished digesting the ball of energy Dahlia White had fed her.
[Agility +3, Constitution +1, Spirit +1, Strength +1]

Faye Yardley hadn’t expected to break through 60 in All Attributes all at once.
This breakthrough had come unexpectedly fast.
While everyone else was desperately struggling to survive, she had once again surpassed her limits and taken the lead.
