The bizarre singing echoed through the forest, startling birds and beasts alike, who then quickly fled from the tone-deaf singer.

’Tsk, I’m so awesome!’

’Giving myself a pep talk where no one can see.’

The smile on Lu Wu’s face widened. Just as she was about to belt out another tune, a roar shook the very ground.

"ROAR!"

The roar made Lu Wu jolt. Her eyes flew wide, her gaze darting around like lightning.

’My concerts are free admission. Please don’t come looking for the performer!’

Unfortunately, things rarely go according to plan.

Amidst Lu Wu’s prayers, a strange noise came from the forest, and it was getting closer.

A rustling sound arose.

It was the sound of some creature’s body brushing against branches as it moved.

’A tiger blocking my path in a place like this.’

’I’m a goner!’

For a moment, Lu Wu even suspected Chan Yu of deliberately trying to murder her so he could inherit her estate.

"Old Li from next door, are you there?"

’When in doubt, call for Old Li.’

But Old Li didn’t answer. What answered her was a massive, tiger-like head.

Its black and white-striped pattern was beautiful, but given its enormous size, Lu Wu figured it could kill her with one sit.

It was a demon beast.

Even if its Spiritual Power was sealed just like hers, demon beasts were born with powerful bodies. Killing her would be as easy as slicing a melon—it couldn’t be simpler.

They were about a dozen meters apart. The demon beast, which resembled a white tiger, revealed only its head as it stared at Lu Wu, its golden eyes seeming to size her up.

"Brother Tiger, I’m just passing through. How about we make a deal? You let me go?"

Lu Wu raised her hands in surrender, begging for mercy.

"Big wings, I’m counting on you."

She patted her large wings, signaling them to prepare for a full-power takeoff.

Just as Lu Wu was preparing to unleash her power, the demon beast suddenly turned and ducked back into the woods. It hadn’t gone far, however, as she could still hear it moving around.

And it was getting closer again.

She gave the command, about to take off, but then she saw the demon beast dragging a human by the collar in her direction.

The human was so covered in blood that she couldn’t make out their features.

Lu Wu’s eyes weren’t sharp enough to figure out how the person had sustained such bizarre and varied wounds.

It looked as though they had undergone some brutal torture.

"ROAR!"

After dragging the person out, the demon beast stopped a short distance from Lu Wu and nudged the human’s corpse... ah, no, body with its head.

Because Lu Wu could see the person’s chest was still faintly rising and falling.

The person was still breathing.

"You want me to save him?"

Lu Wu guessed, but the demon beast shook its head.

’It can communicate!’

"Then do you want me to help you prepare your ingredients?"

Frustrated with this human who kept rambling and missing the point, the demon beast let out a roar. It then saw the human in the distance give a full-body shudder, as if terrified.

The demon beast rolled its eyes, speechless.

’What a wimpy human. Can’t even handle a little noise.’

’Forget it. I’ll just have to be merciful.’

Right after that, Lu Wu witnessed a grand transformation... oh, a grand transformation into a small kitty cat.

The majestic tiger-like demon beast instantly transformed into a small kitten no longer than her forearm. Its intertwined black-and-white pattern was exceptionally beautiful.

Its smooth fur swayed gently in the wind, swaying right into Lu Wu’s heart.

It dropped the piece of cloth and rubbed its head against Lu Wu’s stomach.

"Meow!"

That soft, sweet cry melted Lu Wu’s heart.

’I was wrong.’

’How could I have mistaken such an adorable little kitty for a big, scary, man-eating tiger?’

’I admit my mistake. I’m reflecting on my actions.’

Lu Wu placed a hand on its body. Seeing that it didn’t resist, and in fact even nuzzled its head into her palm, she began to pet the cat with bold confidence.

The reason she was so bold was that her "cheat" had come online.
