Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 359: Please Don’t Ignore Me

Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Please Don’t Ignore Me

Si Jin’s face darkened slightly. He instinctively shielded Yun Sheng by his side, his grip on her wrist tightening abruptly. His voice was lowered to a whisper, his entire body radiating vigilance. "Follow me. Let’s go take a look."

The underground parking lot was spacious and dim, surrounded by an eerie silence. Only the faint WHOOSH of the wind from a distant ventilation shaft could be heard. A heavy stench of blood hung in the air, washing over them and making their scalps tingle with tension.

The two walked quickly side by side, sidestepping rows of scattered parking spaces. Following the faint and chaotic fluctuations of spiritual power, they ventured deeper into the lot. The further they went, the more pungent the metallic smell became. Xing Che’s spiritual power grew increasingly frail and intermittent, as if it could completely dissipate at any moment.

Rounding a row of tall SUVs, their line of sight suddenly cleared, and the scene in the corner instantly slammed into view.

Xing Che was half-leaning against the cold wall. His crisp white shirt had long been thoroughly soaked in blood. Several ghastly wounds gaped open on his chest and the side of his waist, continuously oozing warm blood that pooled into a small, dark red puddle on the ground. His face was as pale as paper, and his spiritual power was volatile and chaotic. His eyelids were so heavy he could barely lift them, relying entirely on his last shred of willpower to stay awake.

"Xing Che!" Yun Sheng’s heart lurched. She immediately released Si Jin’s hand and hurried over, crouching down to carefully inspect his injuries. Her eyes were filled with grave concern.

Hearing the familiar voice, Xing Che, who was on the verge of losing consciousness, struggled to pry open his heavy eyes. His unfocused gaze took a long time to center before he could barely make out the two figures in front of him. He weakly tugged at the corners of his mouth. His voice was hoarse and broken, carried on a heavy, breathless whisper, "Shengsheng..."

Si Jin crouched down, his fingertips swiftly checking the man’s pulse. After confirming his condition, a layer of frost settled over his features. "How did you get hurt this badly?" he asked in a low voice.

Xing Che looked up at him and forced a bitter smile, his tone laced with self-deprecation. "Blame it on me underestimating the enemy. I always thought my SSS-level spiritual power would be hard to counter. I got careless for a moment and took a hard fall."

With that, he slowly lowered his eyelids, hiding a subtle evasiveness in his eyes. He was clearly deliberately concealing something.

Si Jin’s eyes narrowed in understanding, but he didn’t press the matter. He reached out to support Xing Che’s arm, helping him slowly to his feet. Xing Che was completely drained of strength, leaning most of his weight on Si Jin. Even standing straight was an immense effort.

"Let’s get in the car first," Si Jin said in a steady tone. He supported him step by step toward the hovercar parked nearby, safely settling him into the backseat. Turning to Yun Sheng, who was following closely behind, he softly instructed, "Yun Sheng, keep an eye on him in the car and make sure he doesn’t aggravate his wounds. I’ll go back and clean up the traces in the parking lot so we don’t leave any clues that could bring trouble later."

"Okay," Yun Sheng nodded obediently.

After confirming that both of them were seated and the car doors were securely locked, Si Jin turned and headed back to deal with the aftermath.

The interior of the car instantly grew quiet. Yun Sheng didn’t speak. She directly pulled out the onboard first-aid kit, opened it, and expertly extracted gauze, hemostatic agents, and disinfectants. She then shifted to sit beside Xing Che. "Don’t move. I’ll tend to your wounds first and give you a simple bandage to stop the bleeding."

Her tone was flat, devoid of any extra emotional fluctuation, and her movements were both swift and meticulous.

Hearing this, Xing Che immediately sat still like a good boy, remaining incredibly cooperative throughout the entire process, not daring to make a single reckless movement. He stared at Yun Sheng’s focused profile, a sly glint flashing through his eyes. He deliberately knitted his brows and let out an occasional muffled groan, pretending the pain was unbearable. He was putting on a pitiful act to win her sympathy.

However, no matter how much he feigned weakness or softly gasped in pain, Yun Sheng remained expressionless. Her hands moved methodically and unhurriedly, completely unmoved by his performance. She didn’t even spare him a single glance. Before long, Yun Sheng had stopped the bleeding, wrapped layers of gauze, and securely bandaged his wounds. She packed up all the supplies, placed them neatly back into the first-aid kit, and then leaned back against her seat without saying another word.

The atmosphere in the car instantly became delicate. Watching her cold and distant demeanor, Xing Che suddenly felt a wave of uncertainty. He pursed his dry lips and hesitated for a long while before speaking cautiously, his tone carrying a hint of apprehension. "Shengsheng, are you mad at me?"

He knew perfectly well that he was in the wrong. Back in Zone 10, he had blatantly pestered her, confessed that he liked her, and followed her around at every turn. But ever since they returned to the Capital Star, he had suddenly lost contact. During this time, Yun Sheng had sent him several messages and called him. He had seen all of them, but due to various reasons, he hadn’t replied to a single message or picked up a single call, entirely cutting off all communication. Anyone would be angry!

Looking at Yun Sheng’s icy expression and her reluctance to engage with him, Xing Che felt both panicked and regretful. With a sincere and humble tone, he earnestly bowed his head to apologize. "Shengsheng, I was wrong. Disappearing out of the blue, not replying to messages, and not answering calls—it was all my fault. I know you must be furious, and I made you worry. Please don’t ignore me, okay?"

His attitude was extremely subservient, his eyes brimming with remorse, but Yun Sheng merely sat quietly against the car window, staring straight ahead without giving the slightest response. The oppressive silence in the car was suffocating. Seeing that soft words weren’t working, Xing Che was at his wits’ end and had no choice but to repeat his old trick. He deliberately twisted his body, aggravating the wound on his waist, and immediately gasped in pain.

"HISS!"

This cry of pain was exceptionally clear. Hearing it, Yun Sheng finally turned her head and shot him a fierce glare.

Seeing this, Xing Che actually let out a sigh of relief. If she was willing to glare at him, it meant she wasn’t completely ignoring him. He immediately seized the opportunity to soften his tone, carrying a pitiful plea. "Shengsheng, don’t be mad anymore, alright? I really know I was wrong. I’ll never disappear without contacting you again."

Yun Sheng pressed her lips tightly together. She remained silent for a few seconds before speaking slowly.

"Xing Che, I never wanted to interfere with your freedom, nor do I have the right to dictate your affairs. You have your own plans. I sent messages and called simply because I was worried about you. Even if you’re busy, is it that hard to take a moment to say you’re safe, or just let me know you can’t be reached for a while?

"Going completely off the grid without a word and explaining nothing... anyone’s mind would run wild. Anyone would feel a chill in their heart."

Xing Che was rendered instantly speechless. His nose stung, and his heart was overwhelmed with a profound sense of guilt. He explained in a low voice, "I’m sorry, Shengsheng. I really was in the wrong this time. It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t contact you. And then... then I was afraid that what I was doing would implicate you and put you in danger.

"I... once we get to a safe place, I’ll explain everything to you properly, okay? I’m not asking you to forgive me right now. I just beg you to give me a chance to explain, alright?"
