Chapter 211: Feng Jiaojiao

Chapter 211: Chapter 211: Feng Jiaojiao

"Smack!" Suddenly, a crisp sound echoed from the crowd, leaving everyone dumbfounded.

Fu Xiaoxiao looked over and saw Mrs. Qian giving her husband a slap in public amid everyone’s gaze.

"Where did you die off to? Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?" Mrs. Qian lashed out at the Money Battalion Commander, not feeling there was anything wrong with confronting her husband in public.

"Sis-in-law, regardless of the mistake, you shouldn’t hit people..." someone couldn’t help but say.

Upon hearing the slap, they all felt a stinging pain on their faces.

"What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a couple argue? What’s so interesting about it?" Mrs. Qian glared at the onlookers, chasing them away.

"Can’t we talk about this at home?" The Money Battalion Commander felt an intense discomfort from the pain on his face and just wanted to take Mrs. Qian back home.

But his compromise only fueled her arrogance. "Qian Kang! Remember this, if it weren’t for me, you’d still be digging dirt in the fields!"

"That’s tearing face in public, giving no dignity to Money Battalion Commander!" Fu Xiaoxiao felt some sympathy for the commander; the wife he married left him without dignity, not daring to utter a word.

"Who provoked you today that you’re so angry!" Qian Kang’s face was stern as he looked at his furious wife, and his patience had reached its limit.

If she continued being unreasonable and didn’t control her temper, he wouldn’t indulge her any longer.

"Who is that little wench over there! As soon as she arrived, she embarrassed all three of us and is sharp-tongued!" Mrs. Qian pointed at Fu Xiaoxiao, recalling how she was rendered speechless by Xiao Xiao, infuriating her.

"That’s Mr. Lu’s wife. How did she offend you?" Qian Kang couldn’t believe that someone like Fu Xiaoxiao would take the initiative to provoke others; it must have been his wife who started it.

For so long, he knew what she was like, didn’t he?

"She..." She stuttered for a long time but couldn’t say a word.

"Alright, let’s talk about it when we get home." Qian Kang didn’t want to hear her nonsense, grabbing her to go home.

"Money Battalion Commander, your event is about to start..." someone reminded him.

"Not participating! Withdraw me from the competition." Qian Kang coldly pulled his wife towards home.

Seeing Qian Kang’s unpleasant expression, Feng Jiaojiao also felt somewhat guilty and obediently let Qian Kang lead her away.

Back home, Qian Kang wore a somber expression.

"Feng Jiaojiao, I’ve told you during our wedding, you can do whatever you want at home, I won’t stop you, but what are you doing now? Are you publicly humiliating me?" For a man like Qian Kang, being slapped by her in public was no different from humiliation.

Feng Jiaojiao was still in anger and hadn’t realized what she had done. Now that she realized, her scalp tingled, and her fingers began to tremble slightly, uncontrollably.

Her raised chin instantly drooped, her eyes darting around in panic, not daring to meet Qian Kang’s gaze.

Feng Jiaojiao opened her mouth, her throat painfully dry, barely squeezing out a few words. "I... I didn’t mean to..."

"Didn’t mean to?" Qian Kang sneered and took a step forward. "You humiliated me in front of so many people, and now you’re telling me it wasn’t deliberate?"

Feng Jiaojiao backed away again, her hands subconsciously clutching her dress’s edge, her voice quieter than a mosquito’s buzz. "I just... acted on impulse, I really know I was wrong..."

"Impulse? You’ve really picked a good time for that impulse!" Qian Kang’s face darkened, his gaze sharp as he stared intensely at her. "Can’t you think before you act?"

"I’ll explain to everyone that I was just joking with you?" Feng Jiaojiao cautiously suggested.

Qian Kang laughed in anger, the veins on his forehead pulsing more violently, his eyes bulging.

"Joking? Who do you think will believe that?"

"I really regret marrying you." Qian Kang threw Feng Jiaojiao at home with a cold face and returned to the office to call his father-in-law directly.

Upon hearing what his foolish daughter had done, a heavy sigh came from the other end.

"Qian Kang, I’ll give you an explanation for this matter, don’t be too angry. How about this! There’s an opportunity for an exchange, just think of it as my apology to you, what do you say?" Father Feng said solemnly over the phone.

"Dad, I don’t want a second occurrence of this. Initially, I married her because of you!" Qian Kang genuinely approached this due to his father-in-law; he could treat her well for his father-in-law’s sake, but beyond this, he wasn’t interested.

"I understand." Father Feng sighed before hanging up.

Feng Jiaojiao sat at home as Qian Kang left without returning, idly sitting on the sofa when suddenly the phone rang.

Picking up the phone, she heard her father’s voice. "Jiaojiao, I’ve already told you, you need to respect Qian Kang. This boy is stubborn, how could you publicly humiliate him? How would he face others?"

"Dad!" Feng Jiaojiao protested petulantly, causing the voice to soften immediately. "Alright, I didn’t call to scold you, just reminding you to be more careful in the future."

"If it weren’t for that woman infuriating me, I wouldn’t have gotten so angry at Qian Kang! It’s her fault." Feng Jiaojiao pouted, growing angrier as she thought about it.

"Who?" Father Feng raised an eyebrow and asked.

"It seemed to be Mr. Lu’s wife, we just chatted a few words, and she called me a mouthful of crap!" Feng Jiao angrily retorted. "It’s not just me; they all got cursed by her."

"I’ll look into this. Just stay there for a few days, and if you’re uncomfortable, come home." Father Feng said to Feng Jiaojiao.

"Weren’t you the one pushing me to come here, asking me to have your grandchild?" Feng Jiaojiao huffed lightly; he was the one who sent her here, now he’s the one asking her to stay for a few days then return home!

"That’s because your mother wants to hold a grandson!" Father Feng coaxed.

Feng Jiaojiao sulkily talked with her father on the phone for a few phrases and then hung up.

When Qian Kang returned, he seemed to be in a better mood, and Feng Jiaojiao glanced at him and approached to pour him a glass of water.

"Alright, don’t be angry anymore, have some water."

"Feng Jiaojiao..." Qian Kang’s face wasn’t looking good, wanting to rebuke her further.

"Enough is enough! You’re getting ahead of yourself. Weren’t my words correct? You have what you have today because of my father! Even if I hit you, my dad doesn’t care, so what’s wrong with you letting people talk?" Feng Jiaojiao saw Qian Kang still wanted to lecture her, and her temper flared, setting the glass down heavily, she became angry first.

Qian Kang coldly looked at her, knowing she was right; he had pursued wealth for what he had today.

"Alright! I know I was wrong, don’t hold it against me!" Feng Jiaojiao, remembering her mother’s task, couldn’t have things get too strained with Qian Kang, proactively apologized.

"What’s there for me to hold against you! My mistake." Qian Kang sneered, got up, and walked towards the kitchen.

"Where are you going again?" Feng Jiaojiao saw him heading out again, asking urgently.

"I’m going out for a smoke." Qian Kang’s gloomy voice came, followed by a door slam.
