Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Disqualified Father
"In my heart, you’re the best. If you’re feeling frustrated here, why not apply to go back?" Fu Xiaoxiao said to Lu Feng.
"Since I’ve come out, I don’t plan on going back!" Lu Feng shook his head. He wanted to provide Fu Xiaoxiao with a better life, now that he’s out, he couldn’t turn back.
"I’m fine, it’s only the first day. I have the capability, and one day I’ll make them look at me differently." Lu Feng said, rubbing Fu Xiaoxiao’s head as he promised.
"I don’t doubt that at all, you have the capability." Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled lightly. She never questioned Lu Feng’s abilities; capability isn’t a lie, if it’s real gold, there’s no need to fear the furnace.
"No matter what happens, we’ll always be behind you, supporting you." Fu Xiaoxiao leaned against Lu Feng and spoke earnestly. "Wherever you go, we’ll go!"
Lu Feng felt a rush of warmth and tightly embraced Fu Xiaoxiao, breathing in her scent, which instantly calmed his agitated energy.
"It’s just a small setback, it won’t defeat your man." Lu Feng laughed, holding her.
"That’s right! You are Lu Feng, my idol! How can you be defeated by such small matters? Even if they ignore you, it won’t change who you are. If they don’t give you work, then find work for yourself! In your area of responsibility, they can’t find fault with you!" Fu Xiaoxiao said with a smile.
Lu Feng’s eyes lit up with sudden realization.
"You’re truly my lucky star." Once Lu Feng understood, he felt a sense of liberation. Why wait for them to assign him work when he could identify problems and work on them himself!
With his responsibilities, who could criticize him?
After washing away his fatigue, when Lu Feng returned to his room, Fu Xiaoxiao was already asleep.
He couldn’t take his eyes off her sleeping face. Gently, Lu Feng held her in his arms, letting her rest against his chest, kissed her hair lightly, and fell asleep peacefully.
Meanwhile, as soon as Qin Shuang got home, she went to the study to call her brother.
"Qin Shuang, what’s up?" Her brother’s cold voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Bro, do you still want your wife and son?" Qin Shuang got straight to the point, too lazy to waste words with her brother.
Thinking about it now, he’s just a man who leaves his child and wife at home, irresponsibly.
"What do you mean?" Qin Lang frowned at the phone, not understanding Qin Shuang’s implication. Could it be that Liu Lili mentioned divorce to Qin Shuang?
"As Qin Ye’s biological father, you’re always leaving your son for our parents to take care of, missing out on companion time. Qin Ye has become increasingly unruly. Mom wouldn’t let me tell you, but the other day, Qin Ye pushed mom over for a toy, and when my sister-in-law tried to discipline him, mom wouldn’t allow it, shielding Qin Ye." Qin Shuang directly revealed everything, counter to Mrs. Qin’s instructions.
"Is what you said true?" Qin Lang paused. He had heard Liu Lili talk about these issues before, but after coming home, his mother’s words dismissed his suspicions, making him think Liu Lili was overly concerned.
The subject of child education had led to repeated arguments between him and Liu Lili, eroding the relationship until there was little left. Liu Lili ultimately told him to stay in the army and not come home.
"Of course it’s true. Every time you come back, that brat pretends to be good, and now he does the same around dad, acting spoiled to easily gain forgiveness. No boundaries. If this spoiling continues, your son will grow to be a tyrant. Will you deal with it?" Qin Shuang’s words brought Qin Lang into silence.
"It’s my mistake. I’ll come home tomorrow." Qin Lang said solemnly.
It seems he needs to seriously consider who between his mother and Liu Lili is lying.
Although he didn’t want to doubt his mother... with Qin Shuang’s testimony, thinking about Liu Lili’s shift from hesitant speech to cold indifference, Qin Lang realized...
He truly missed a lot and owes her much.
Reflecting on the past few years, he hadn’t fulfilled responsibilities as a husband and father—truly not a good husband, nor a good father.
Picking up the family portrait on his desk, seeing his wife’s once bright smile overlapped with her current indifference, Qin Lang let out a heavy sigh.
Qin Ye hasn’t realized his good days are numbered.

Early the next morning, Wang Zhijun arrived.
Fu Xiaoxiao noticed his empty hands and quietly sighed with relief.
"Have you eaten yet?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked with a smile.
"Sister-in-law, not yet! I’m headed to the mess hall soon!" Wang Zhijun replied politely with a smile.
"Don’t trouble yourself. I’m making noodles, so why not eat here with us!" Fu Xiaoxiao said with a smile.
"Stay and eat with us!" Lu Feng glanced at Wang Zhijun and motioned for him to sit.
"Well... it’ll be troublesome for you, sister-in-law!" Wang Zhijun hesitated to refuse, so he sat down.
In no time, Fu Xiaoxiao brought out a bowl of noodles, topped with minced meat, two eggs, and some greens.
"Sister-in-law, this is so extravagant." Wang Zhijun hadn’t expected such a feast, feeling more embarrassed.
"Everyone has the same." Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled, showing him her bowl, which had the same setup.
Even Lu Feng and the two kids had noodles with eggs, meat, and vegetables—not missing anything.
Seeing everyone had the same, Wang Zhijun was enticed by the aroma and finally picked up the chopsticks, taking a bite of noodles.
The first taste was a burst of wheat flavor combined with the richness of bone broth, awakening the taste buds.
Wang Zhijun’s pupils brightened, startled by the impactful flavor.
Swallowing, he scooped up the soft-boiled egg with a porcelain spoon. The amber yolk lingered between the teeth, releasing a salty-sweet taste.
"Does the seasoning suit you?" Fu Xiaoxiao asked Wang Zhijun with a smile.
"Sister-in-law, this is the best noodles I’ve ever had, so fragrant." Wang Zhijun declared sincerely as he continued eating enthusiastically.
"You’re exaggerating. I’m glad it suits your taste." Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled, seeing Wang Zhijun’s enjoyment, she added, "There’s a little bit left in the pot; if it’s not enough, have some more."
"Thank you, sister-in-law." Wang Zhijun originally wanted to politely refuse, but the noodles were so delicious that he couldn’t resist. Fu Xiaoxiao, concerned he might not be used to eating less, didn’t serve much, but soldiers have bigger appetites, so a little wasn’t enough for him.
Having cheekily finished the noodles, he went to the kitchen to refill his bowl.
Feeling satisfied after the meal, Wang Zhijun happily sighed, "It’s been a long time since I’ve had something so tasty."
"If you like it, I’ll make an extra portion in the morning from now on." Fu Xiaoxiao said with a smile.
"My mom makes different breakfasts every morning! There’s meat sauce pancakes, egg and vegetable pancakes, noodles..." Lu Chen chuckled happily, bragging to Wang Zhijun.
"Wouldn’t that be too troublesome for you, sister-in-law..." Knowing he should refuse, Wang Zhijun couldn’t resist after hearing the menu... he shamelessly agreed for the sake of his stomach.
"Not at all." Fu Xiaoxiao replied with a smile.
Wang Zhijun took out thirty yuan from his pocket and placed it in front of Fu Xiaoxiao. "Then I’ll shamelessly ask for a meal."
Lu Feng pushed the money back, but Wang Zhijun returned it. "Lu Tuan, it’s my meal cost; I can’t let sister-in-law pay for me! Otherwise, how could I face eating?"
"Sister-in-law, please pity me and accept this money!" Wang Zhijun looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, pleading.
