Chapter 169: Chapter 129: This Fairy’s Greatest Skill Is Disciplining Naughty Treasures

Shu Yao returned to the assembly hall, only to be cornered by Wan Shanyan.

"Where have you been?" Director Wan questioned her sternly.

"The restroom," Shu Yao said, her expression neutral.

Wan Shanyan’s eyes narrowed with suspicion, his tone growing more doubtful. "Then how come I didn’t see you in the first-floor restroom?"

Shu Yao lied without batting an eye. "It was too crowded. I couldn’t wait, so I went over to the next academic building."

Wan Shanyan couldn’t find any fault with her excuse, so he said, somewhat resentfully, "Get back to your class."

Shu Yao looked for the group from Class Six.

It seemed a new event was about to begin, one that required a large, open area. To make room, the formations of all the classes had shifted, and Class Six was no longer in its original spot.

An empty space of over five hundred square meters had been cleared in the middle of the hall.

"Yaoyao, over here!" Wen Miaomiao called Shu Yao over.

Shu Yao rejoined her group and noticed that all the boys around her were buzzing with excitement.

Even the usually stoic Ke Dancheng seemed to be looking forward to something.

"What’s going on?"

Ke Dancheng replied, his voice filled with excitement, "A representative from the Austin family just announced that their family’s Ouchuang Technology has invented a new tech. They’ve combined the mimicry defense technology used for Star Network Space security with sensing, Mecha, particle, and simulation technologies to create a new kind of Mimicry Mecha Technology!

All you have to do is wear a specialized sensor, and you can pilot a Mimic combat Mecha! Particle collisions with any physical object will have a real reaction, and can even cause actual damage! It gives the pilot a completely immersive experience!"

Shu Yao replied dismissively, "Sounds pretty badass."

’Isn’t this just a high-end version of virtual reality technology? VR Plus, in other words.’

You Dan couldn’t help but dream aloud, "A Mimic Mecha. It can attack as well as defend. If this new technology is applied in the military, its potential will be limitless!"

"You’re being naive, You Dan. Don’t you think this technology is a little too idealistic?" Ignoring You Dan’s resentful glare, Shu Yao continued, "A standard Mecha already requires its pilot to have incredibly strong spiritual power. The requirements for a Mimic Mecha like this would only be more demanding."

You Dan was unconvinced, and shot her a disdainful look.

Teacher Wei, however, agreed with Shu Yao. "I think so, too."

You Dan finally couldn’t hold back. "I doubt it."

Ke Dancheng added, "There’s going to be an exhibition match. Edgar from Class One is personally demonstrating his family’s new technology."

Though he said this in his typical flat, wooden tone, you could still detect a hint of disdain in his words.

You Dan shot him a look of slight appreciation.

’If a piece of trash like Edgar can handle it, how demanding could the requirements for piloting a Mimic Mecha be?’

Under the astonished and envious gazes of the entire crowd, Edgar put on a silver sensing helmet that had a distinct metallic sheen.

After getting a nod from his family’s representative, he picked up another, similar sensing helmet. He strutted to the center of the open space with a cocky swagger and scanned the crowd imperiously, as if looking for someone.

Finally, his gaze locked onto his target. He beckoned provocatively with his finger and laughed, his voice dripping with arrogance.

"You Dan! You got the guts to come up here, put on a helmet, and fight me?"

Catching the flash of contempt in You Dan’s eyes, Edgar recalled his own painful past experiences and felt a surge of humiliated anger.

When it came to actual fistfights, he was no match for You Dan.

But as long as he could avoid a physical fight, he was confident he could use this opportunity to pay You Dan back—with interest—for all his previous humiliations!

You Dan had no intention of taking the bait.

A vicious grin spread across Edgar’s face as he continued to taunt, "What’s the matter? Scared?"

You Dan replied nonchalantly, "There’s no satisfaction in beating you. I’ve already done it too many times."

"You’re just scared!" Edgar insisted furiously.

The You and Austin families were already at odds due to the conflict over the succession of the empress.

You Dan and Edgar were the respective representatives of the younger generation of these two powerful families. Attending the same school, and having once been in the same class, a fierce private rivalry between them was inevitable.

The students at Imperial High School were used to feasting on the drama between the two.

Edgar was used to throwing his weight around at school. Even the teachers protected him, and while the other students were resentful, they were too intimidated by his family’s influence to say anything.

So, every time You Dan wiped the floor with Edgar, regardless of who was in the right, it was a cause for public celebration.

As a result, You Dan was quite popular among his classmates.

The surrounding students started to roar with excitement.

"Go on, You Dan!"
