Chapter 209: Chapter 144: Proof of Talent
Staring at the twenty cups of water, Wen Miaomiao groaned, pained. "A five percent chance? This is way too hard!"
"Just trust your first instinct," Shu Yao encouraged her.
Wen Miaomiao furrowed her brow and circled the cups twice, unable to see any difference. She then leaned in and sniffed each cup, but she couldn’t smell a difference either.
She wrinkled her nose, blinked, and then, as if throwing caution to the wind, pointed to a cup.
"This one!"
Seeing that she hadn’t chosen the cup closest to Shu Yao’s hand, Wen Youran was a little disappointed. He shook his head and smiled dotingly.
’He shouldn’t have had such high hopes for his scatterbrained sister in the first place.’
When Wen Miaomiao saw Shu Yao pick up the cup she had chosen, she tried to stop her. "I’m not really sure, though. Yaoyao, you’d better not drink it."
But Shu Yao simply turned and handed the water to Wen Youran.
Wen Miaomiao’s attitude immediately shifted to one of urgency. "Brother, quick! Try it and see if I picked the right one!"
Wen Youran fought the urge to roll his eyes. ’...’ ’Aren’t you afraid of poisoning me? I’m your actual brother!’
Despite his silent complaints, he still did her the courtesy of taking the cup.
’It’s just salt water, anyway. It won’t kill me.’
He took a small sip, a stunned look on his face. After a pause, he took a large gulp.
No taste. It wasn’t salty at all.
He looked at Shu Yao in astonishment.
’Could it be? While I was out getting Wen Miaomiao, did Shu Yao switch the cups?’
As if refusing to believe it, Wen Youran quickly grabbed the cup by Shu Yao’s hand and took a sip.
It was salty.
He then randomly picked two more cups. Both were salt water.
There was no need to test any further. The rest of the cups were definitely filled with salt water, too.
Wen Youran looked at Wen Miaomiao in disbelief.
’Unbelievable!’
’My sister is truly unbelievable!’
If Wen Miaomiao had picked the correct cup out of two, he could have chalked it up to coincidence.
But this was twenty cups of water! A five percent chance!
To pick the right one unerringly just by feel... that couldn’t be explained away as simple good luck, could it?
Wen Miaomiao asked blankly, "Did I get it right?"
Wen Youran was silent for a moment before speaking. "You got it right."
A dazed, silly grin spread across Wen Miaomiao’s face. She muttered nonstop, "Could this be my talent? I can guess correctly no matter how low the odds? Yaoyao, Brother, I feel like I could go win the lottery! Let’s go, I’m ready to work my magic!"
"We still have guests, so I won’t be joining you," Shu Yao said with a wave.
"Yaoyao, you just wait! I’ll win a grand prize and bring it to you!" Wen Miaomiao was feeling on top of the world.
She felt that if someone were to bet the entire Milky Way, she could win it with her talent alone!
From the moment he learned of his sister’s revealed talent, Wen Youran had been itching to bring the news back home. Perhaps Shu Yao had seen through him, which was why she had so thoughtfully given them a reason to leave.
After saying goodbye to Shu Xin, Wen Youran left with his sister.
Before leaving, he took a long look toward the Shu Family’s kitchen. His attention had been focused on Wen Miaomiao’s talent, but now, recalling the setup he had seen in the kitchen... it looked a bit familiar.

「Imperial University, Agricultural College, Greenhouse.」
Song Xiaoxing had gone to Imperial Hospital to visit Li Hancheng, only to learn just how lucky he was to be alive!
If it weren’t for that life-saving injection from Shu Yao, Li Hancheng would have died right there in front of him and his team members!
This also confirmed it: the white seeds inside the shell were highly toxic!
After learning this, the first thing he did was try to contact his father on his Light Brain, but he couldn’t get through.
He sent a text message but also received no reply.
Song Xiaoxing had no choice but to make a trip to Imperial University in person.
He knew he would find his father, Song Yinghe, in the greenhouse at the Agricultural College.
’No one knows a father better than his son.’
After finding his father, Song Xiaoxing started rattling off everything in his ear.
But Song Yinghe kept his head down, engrossed in studying a seedling.
Seeing how dismissively he was being treated, Song Xiaoxing finally exploded.
"Dean Song, are you even listening to what I’m saying? This is serious!"
"Mm," Song Yinghe replied perfunctorily.
Song Xiaoxing roared, even more furious, "Are those stupid seedlings the only thing you care about! Are they going to bear you children and carry on the family line or what?! You just wait! One of these days I’ll poison them all!"
No matter how loud he shouted, he couldn’t get his father to even glance up.
Utterly disappointed and hurt, Song Xiaoxing stormed out of the greenhouse with red-rimmed eyes, nearly colliding with two visitors from the Military Academy.
A man named Gan reacted quickly, shielding the old dean, Si Jingping, as he dodged, but Song Xiaoxing slammed right into him.
Song Xiaoxing was in a rage and ran off without so much as an apology.
The old dean recognized the hot-tempered young man as Dean Song’s son, Song Xiaoxing.
He walked into the greenhouse with his hands behind his back and teased Song Yinghe with a smile, "Xiao Song, had a fight with your son?"
’The old coot is here again!’
Song Yinghe was clearly annoyed. "Mr. Si, don’t waste your time. I don’t have any extra spots here!"
"Xiao Song, you should know, I’m only coming to you time and again out of respect," the old dean said amiably. "If I didn’t want to be polite, I have plenty of ways to go over your head and get the girl I want placed in the Agricultural College."
Seeing Song Yinghe ignore him, the old dean shot a look at Gan.
Gan understood immediately. He went over, grabbed the clothes on Song Yinghe’s shoulder, and forcibly dragged him in front of the old dean, warning him in a severe tone:
"Dean Song, even His Majesty shows our old dean a great deal of deference when they speak. For you to not even show the most basic respect... isn’t that a bit inappropriate?"
Song Yinghe knew these brutes from the Military Academy were tough fighters and immediately felt a little intimidated, but he remained stubborn.
"Even if you threaten me, I can’t create an extra spot out of thin air!"
The old dean patted his face. Though he was smiling, his touch was ice-cold. "It’s alright. We can take our time and chat. Maybe if we talk long enough, that extra spot will just... appear. Hehehehe..."
A chill ran down Song Yinghe’s spine.
