The Chancellor's Darling: Reborn for Vengeance

Chapter 32: Life or Death

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Life or Death

"What a natural-born slut. No wonder you attract so many men, having that rebellious son dancing around you since you were little." Wang Su’s expression became increasingly twisted. He yanked Liang Wan’s hair as if venting his anger. She felt as though her scalp was about to be ripped off, her eyes red from the pain.

"He really is a useless piece of trash. He clearly carried you inside, yet he actually let you come out completely unscathed—"

Liang Wan’s eyes widened. Seeing her shock, Wang Su revealed a satisfied smile and patted her face. "Didn’t you say I have immense power and connections? What happens in this mansion that could possibly be hidden from me? You should know that if he dared to betray me today, I would have certainly killed him with my own sword."

Liang Wan’s face paled. She looked at him in disbelief. "Even a vicious Hu doesn’t eat its cubs!"

Wang Su froze for a moment, then burst into loud laughter. "He was merely born to a lowly servant girl. He hardly counts as a son. However, I see you are quite fond of him. I wonder, will you still like him when he has to call you his father’s concubine?"

Biting her lip, Liang Wan swallowed her tears. "Shameless!"

Wang Su yanked her hair, throwing her viciously onto the bed. "Shameless? A slut like you hooks up with every man you see. First it was Lu Xiu, then Cao Jun. Who else are you planning to seduce in the future?

"Why don’t you show me what other skills you have later? If you fail to please me, I’ll just give you to—" He frowned in thought. "Zhao Heng?" After saying that, he shook his head and sneered. "He’s been drooling over you for a long time."

Liang Wan scrambled up, her red eyes watching him as she slowly backed away.

"What? Not willing?" Wang Su seemed highly amused. "If you still want to be with that rebellious son of mine, it’s not impossible. I just wonder if he’ll still want you after you finish serving me?"

Her back hit the wall. Unable to bear it any longer, she demanded, "Why must you degrade me like this?"

Wang Su dropped his smile. He remained silent, his gaze turning sinister and cruel.

Liang Wan glared at him with pure hatred. "Wang Su, if my Awen has a spirit in heaven, he will never let you off!"

Wang Su acted as if he had heard the greatest joke in the world. He laughed uncontrollably, deepening the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. After laughing for a good while, he finally looked back at her. "He couldn’t do anything to me when he was alive, so what can he do now that he’s dead? If you want to blame someone, blame him!"

Awen once had two prized pupils, and Wang Su was one of them. When she was a young child, Wang Su was actually quite good to their family. Every time he visited, he would smile and speak to her in a warm and amiable manner. Because she was good friends with Wang Tingyue, the servants in the mansion wouldn’t give Wang Tingyue too hard of a time. But she didn’t know when things started to change. Whenever they visited later on, they would always part on bad terms. Eventually, they gradually stopped associating with each other. That was until Awen died, and not long after, her Father died as well.

"If you were just an ordinary woman, I wouldn’t mind giving you to that rebellious son of mine. But unfortunately for you, your surname is Liang. Since that old geezer doted on you the most, how could I not get my hands on you and destroy you myself?" He laughed and tore off her outer garment, lunging at her in the same motion. "But right now, I really want to see what makes you so different! HAHA—"

Wang Su was completely different from Zhang Shi. He had practiced martial arts in his youth. Liang Wan was pinned beneath him, her thin dress being stripped away little by little.

Liang Wan kicked and thrashed, fighting him with both her hands and feet. "You were the one who murdered Awen and my Father!"

The lust in Wang Su’s eyes instantly vanished, replaced by an icy coldness. He grabbed her by the throat. "It seems the item really is in your hands. Speak!"

Liang Wan’s face flushed red from the lack of oxygen. "If you kill me today... the item will be... sent into the Imperial Palace!"

"You gave it to Lu Xiu?!" Wang Su was furious, his grip on her neck tightening like a vice. "You bitch! You really are just like that old geezer—you deserve to die!"

Liang Wan was nearly strangled to death. "If I die... you won’t... get off easy either!" She closed her eyes, giving up the struggle.

Seeing that she had embraced death, Wang Su’s gaze shifted. He let out a sinister chuckle. "In that case, I’ll make you wish you were dead. Let’s see which is tougher: your stubborn mouth, or my methods of torture!"

Suddenly, the grip on her neck loosened. Aside from taking huge, gulping breaths of air, her mind went completely blank. Wang Su had no intention of giving her a chance to catch her breath. Leaning down, he bit fiercely into her slender, pale neck, grinning savagely as he reached a hand down her body.

All of a sudden, the laughter came to an abrupt halt. The man buried in her neck stiffened, and then Wang Su’s entire body went completely limp.

Panting for air, Liang Wan fought back her nausea and shoved him away, her head still spinning. Wang Su’s eyes were tightly shut; he was completely unconscious.

Her limbs felt weak like jelly. Glancing toward the door, she hurriedly threw her clothes back on. Striking his Xinmen acupoint would only keep him unconscious for so long; her time was severely limited. With trembling hands, she patted down Wang Su’s body, searching him from head to toe, inside and out. Yet, she couldn’t find his secret seal anywhere.

If she couldn’t find the secret seal, all her efforts would be for nothing! Once Wang Su woke up, she would undoubtedly suffer a fate worse than death!

Liang Wan stared blankly at the man lying like a corpse on the bed, her heart filling with utter despair. The bite mark on her neck throbbed with a dull ache, but it was nothing compared to the agony in her heart—

Pain?! She froze in sudden realization. Right! Her neck! When he was choking the life out of her just moments ago, there had been something hard digging painfully into her skin! Her heart pounding frantically, Liang Wan quickly grabbed his hand. A ring!

Holding her breath in intense focus, she slipped the ring off Wang Su’s finger. There was a tiny indentation on the side of the gemstone. Pulling a hairpin from his hair, she poked it into the notch. The gemstone popped open. It really was his secret seal!

Rumor had it that his secret seal never left his side, and it turned out to be true. If she hadn’t known about this from her past life, who would have ever guessed that this utterly crucial secret seal was hidden in plain sight where everyone could see it?

Hot tears pricked Liang Wan’s eyes, but she had no time to celebrate. She stripped off his clothes, stuck the pin back into his acupoint, shoved a corner of the quilt into his mouth as a gag, and yanked the bedsheets free to bind his hands and feet. After dropping the bed curtains to hide him, she hastily smoothed out her hair, leaving her dress half-draped over her shoulder, and headed for the outer room.

The Sikong Mansion was heavily guarded, especially the quarters where Wang Su lived. Whether she lived or died, there was no other way out; she had to leave through here.

"Somebody, come in."

A slightly hoarse, coquettish groan wafted out from behind the door, enough to make anyone who heard it blush and their heart race.

The servant girl guarding the corridor pushed the door open and walked in, only to see the woman with disheveled hair and unkempt clothing. Leaning weakly against the doorframe, she panted softly, barely able to stand, as if she couldn’t handle the intensity of what had just happened. The maid caught sight of the conspicuous red marks on her neck and sneaked a peek into the inner room. She quickly lowered her head, the tips of her ears burning a bright red.

"What are your orders, Liang Ji?"

It wasn’t that Liang Wan was intentionally putting on such an obscene display. It was just that the life-or-death struggle moments ago had left her on the verge of complete collapse. Panting heavily, she took a moment to catch her breath before saying in a trembling voice, "Mr. Wang is a little drunk. Go brew some hangover soup."

The maid hesitantly lifted her head, craning her neck to look inside.

Liang Wan sneered at her. "What, do you want to go in and serve Mr. Wang with me? Or do I have no right to order you around? How about we go and ask Mr. Wang together?"

"I wouldn’t dare," the maid hurriedly bowed her head.

"Then hurry up and go!"

The sharp reprimand startled the maid, making her tremble. She spun around and hurried out the door.

After waiting a moment for the maid to leave, Liang Wan pushed the door open to exit. Unexpectedly, the moment she stepped over the threshold, two gleaming spears blocked her path.

"You have a lot of nerve. How dare you touch me? Do you have a death wish?" Liang Wan reprimanded them playfully, her voice sultry and provocative.
